Back in the spring I posted about our granddaughter having a pretty severe seizure that they ruled as Febrile ... shortly after she had another so she was seen by a Pediatric Neurologist and thankfully, they found nothing to be alarmed at and assured our son and DIL it was indeed a Febrile seizure due to the spike in her temp.

Well - Friday she had another spell. Around noon her little cheeks got beat red and they gave her Tylenol and put her in a bath to bring her temp down (it was 105 under her arm!!!) :td. Her temp dropped - and she was starting to get back to being her normal self - no signs of sickness at all - when all at once she vomited and her skin tone turned grey and she wasn't responsive (no actual seizing of her body...) but she just started straight ahead and didn't move. That lasted nearly 5 minutes and then it took another hour for her to "come around" fully. Shortly after the hour though, she was fine, just like nothing had happened.

They took her to their pediatrician yesterday and was advised to see a Pediatric Immunologist in Chicago or Madison WI. They need to get to the bottom of the reason that her fever spikes SO quickly and SO high.

Bless her little heart - she will turn 2 on the 29th of the month and my heart actually hurts when I think about what her future might hold. What they might find ... I was really hoping she had ear infection or something ... but there were no signs of anything like that.

Would appreciate prayers from the prayer warriors ... Thank you so much!!

PS I remember a friend telling me that once you had grandbabies you have a whole new set of things to fret about ... I'd say it's true! And now we have a new grandson as well (just turned 2 months ...) I'm not sure my old ticker can handle the stress -- even though I know this is so minor compared to what others go through ...

Poor little lady!!! I can't even begin to imagine what you guys must go through every time this happens. Hopefully the specialist can give you some insight as to why it is happening.
Hugs to you and your family!!!

Oh she was doing so well. I hope and pray the specialist figures that out.

Keeping your granddaughter in my prayers.

I feel for you Jill! That is scary stuff, trust me I know! My daughter had several severe seizures in her first month of life, but I'm happy to say she is now 11 and totally fine.

Poor baby! Thoughts and prayers for her! Hope they are able to figure out what's going on.

I know this doesn't help right now -today, But in my family we have this amazing ,clever, kind and strong 18 year old , who had seizures just like that, and also got lumbered with severe astma, he learned the warning signs him self, and I tell no lies when I say the "worry barometer " was set quite high in the family. But it thankfully eased of over time.
Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

Jill, I am so sorry to hear this, you and your family must be beside yourselves. I sincerely hope the Drs. can get to the bottom of this quickly. Will be thinking of you.

Jill, I am keeping your granddaughter, your family and you in my thoughts. Hoping that the specialist can shed some light on what is going on and get her on track to good health. <3

I have been thinking in the back of my mind that asthma may have something to do with it -- not sure if that can be passed down, but our DIL has severe asthma (and allergy) issues ... Reading your post gives me hope, that's for sure! Thank you!

So glad she is fine now! Thanks for the positive feedback - !!!

Hugs to you and your family. I'm so sorry you are all going through this. I know it is so terrifying. I hope and pray that you guys get some answers from the immunologist. It is so difficult in those situations because from what our doc told us, the seizures are from a quick change in temperature, and when it gets high so quickly and then you have to try to get it to drop fast, it is a total catch-22. So frustrating and crazy.

Poor little girl. I sure hope they get this figured out soon. Prayers are sent for her.

Yikes! That is scary. I'll hold the situation in my prayers. I hope the specialists can figure it out.

Oh, Jill. Hugs! You and your family are in my thoughts! Hoping all turns out ok when you get to the specialists!

I am so sorry. Hopefully this is just something her little body just needs to grow out of. When my oldest was 2yrs, he used to get night terrors. He was asleep so he couldn't hear us. We weren't supposed to wake him up because that could cause more harm. We felt so helpless. I don't know how long it took, but he grew out of it. That scary time is long gone. I hope your scary time is over soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that she's had another episode. This must be so incredibly scary and frustrating! Kim (the polly here) was telling us one time about one of her son's who randomly spikes temperatures like that without actually being sick. I think she said it had a name, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I sure hope they can figure this out and put all of your minds at ease!

How scary and so sorry to hear that she's had another seizure. Hugs to you + her both.

Keeping your granddaughter in my prayers. I have walked this road with my son, and know first hand how scary it is, and how helpless you feel when your child has a seizure.

Thankfully we seem to have put those days behind us. Praying that it is something that she also grows out of, and that your scary time is over soon. ((Hugs)) :beat
