Before I go any further let me say that I love all the designers here ,and admire the work they all do and the talent they have, but I am sure most of us have a "pet hate " element that we wish they wouldn't keep including in their kits.
Mine is those little flowers, (or petals) that usually is a bit of what has once been a part of an artificial flower that has been taken apart, (flat little things with a hole in the middle ) I have used them in speed scraps, and I wish I had not been quite that desperate LoL.
Please Designers they are not pretty !
Now I like using flowers and I love any that a drawn, painted made with paper, felt ones ,crochet ones....
What about you ?

I like to use those layered under other flowers, or peeking out behind papers, but I never ever EVER want that hole showing!
I tend to avoid anything pre-shadowed or pre-chopped (like you HAVE to put it in the corner or on the side because some of it is missing) and "stitches" that aren't stitches (when you zoom in to 100% they are totally flat, no texture, etc.). Also "cut files" that cannot actually be used for hybrid.

something like a flower, maybe called a rolled ribbon, it huge and sure don't match any leave, flower, or riboon

favorite ... color ... vacation ... mom

I adore word art. I use it all the time. How hard can it be to include favourite ... colour ... holiday ... mum?

If word art is a feature of the kit and has only the american spellings I will not buy it (or it has to have a really good bunch of other stuff to take my mind off of the irritation).

I don't have a hate, but it annoys me when I have bought a template and it's just one PSD file. For me to use it in Craft Artist I have to break it down and save each layer as a separate .png in PSE. Which can take a while!

Same with alphas - one of the ones I bought recently was just one .jpeg file, pretty much impossible to use!

Sometimes the designers don't specify their file format, so I have to be careful :)

I hate alpha sheets too. I can (and do) split them up in Photoshop so at least I can use them, but it seems like something I shouldn't have to do myself and not everyone can.

I looove simple frames and almost.never use the big bulky frames. I try to imagine that I'm making a paper layout and don't use anything that wouldn't fit in a traditonal layout. I dont know why because I have never been anything but a digi scrapper.

I'm with you Kate, I need the separate PNG layers and hate it when I find a fabulous template but is is only available as psd or tiff....frustrating

I'm not a big fan of flair, i'm never quite sure how to use them, they seem bulky to me.

With all the goodies offered in a collection, the alpha is my least favorite..I prefer to use generic alpha's like metal or wood

I really dislike the folders, within folders, within the folders. .... and when the preview is actually named "folder". :/ overall I assume designers are making things the way they do because of their customers. Someone somewhere asked for it. So I just accept it. I will think more on it though, because I know I've had this thought before.

I always thought it was something that they had to do because of the zipping...all the designers do it. The first thing I do when I download is re-arrange all the folders, lol! I actually find it weirdly therapeutic :)

And that is why I always just accept what I don't like about a kit. Lol. What I don't like, others do.... :)

I love those, I never let the center touch, I always put a button or my favorite a flair.

You see I LOVE alpha sheets! LOVE THEM, the only time I don't like them so much is if the original size of the alpha sheet is bigger than 12x12 because the way I extract them then I am not getting the full size of the alpha. I wonder if I should make a short video on how I extract my alphas.

I LOVE flairs too, LOL!!!! I like them to put as the center of those flowers Vivi doesn't like. I also use them better than buttons. I love buttons that are stitched in the center if not then I look for flairs. I did love them when I was a paper scrapper.

I am with you on this one, because I like to put everything (elements, papers, journaling cards, WA) of the same kit in ONE and only ONE folder and then I need to re-name all the previews. YUCK.

When the preview is called "folder" then it shows in the icon view on Windows. That's why they do it. Though when there are two copies of the preview, one called "folder" and one called something else, I have no clue what that's about.

I use a script to do titles, so sheets are worthless to me. De-sheeting them is not hard for me (I use scripts for that too) but for people who use different software, it can be a real problem. A lot of designers include both sheets and individuals PNGs, which makes the most sense to me. Then everyone gets what they want, just like when they include various formats for templates.

Does it matter what size the "folder" preview is for it to show in the icon view? I'm curious because I've never used the preview as the icon view.

I'm a big fan of the "one called something else" because I like looking at the big, giant preview of everything that's in the kit! I think that's why sometimes there are two - one small "folder" and one large preview. I alway keep both & put a _ in front of the file name so that it shows at the top of the kit.

My only dislike are plasticized(real word???) flowers and alphas. I, too, RARELY use the bulky, ornate frames. They don't look natural for a scrapbook page -- beautiful, yes, but I want the page to resemble a traditional paper page.

I'm learning to use the small plastic flowers they way Lorry mentioned-- small, peeking out from under larger flowers.

I agree with the fake stitching. I get that on a template it's just a placement item, but in kits I prefer texture.

I imagine it's hard to be a designer, trying to please as many different wants and desires as people have into a kit. I think the gals here do a fantastic job.

Yep, like I like most of the stuff some of you gals don't like.

Hi Kate. Sorry I tried to post earlier but couldn't. I never buy templates or alpha sheets either as I mostly use Craft Artist too. But at least designers here gives you png files. However a good tip as regards the alpha sheets is to take the sheet on your page select it and go to. Cut out studio. That will show if you have transparency or not. If not select round the letters. It is easy it will do them quick not too much fiddeling. Most of them already have some sort of outline. Click ok and you have a transparent background. Now take the scissor tool and make a cut line round one of the letters. No need to be careful it is enough to make like a circle around ir. Double click away from the sheet with the letters and when you use the move tool now to click on any of the letters you will see that they are all separate. Hope it helps. If not pm me.

This is me!!! I wish there were more smaller sinny frames! Anne DeJong used to have a set that used all the time! ;)

I don't know that I have a most hated element. I often go through kits the first time and think I would probably never use that. But as has been said earlier, I have found them to be perfect for tucking under, or filling a space. Designers are trying to create kits to fit a wide variety of tastes. The alphabet sheets are irritating as I have to go through the extra step of cropping and saving them as individual letters, but it's not really time consuming at least with Paintshop.

Don't get me going on folders in folders, dupl tou, etc. I have just started unzipping not including them, wish had done from start.

I finally finished renaming some punctuation in file names and get file name smaller for designers who don't have a 3 character designer abbreviation last night. (from older things here during nsid)
