awesome Diane! you are really fast!

did you see my new siggy? it is kind a awesome... :)

Diane, I LOVE your page :) It looks amazing & the concept is even more wonderful!

I have some technical questions for the team. I started building my house with shapes, then I clipped patterned paper to the shapes like a template. Is this the best way to "cut and paste"? I would love to hear more about how you all are constructing your pages. Also, what is the best way to recolor patterned papers?

Thanks team!

all the links to the siggys say photo not found - where do I get my siggy?

here is DIane's link:

have my page finished but not too sure about it, of course I flattened and saved it *sigh* so I can't make changes, would have to 'do-over'

I like to have all my papers invisible in my layers. Then, on my invisible layer, I use my shape tool to create a rectangle or circle (I haven't figured out triangles yet). My shape tool makes a shape selection, and I'm on my invisible paper layer, so I just control copy, control paste, shift control N to new layer. (I am in GIMP. If I remember correctly, this process is "cntrl J" in PS/PSE.)

For recoloring, the only way I know is to add color fill layers and use blending modes. (I do this by making my layer a black and white layer, either by color tools, adjustment layers, or blending... then I add a new layer underneath or above, and bucket fill it with the desired color... again blending modes to achieve desired results) But I'm eager to learn other methods, too. :)

Secret: I've never actually recolored anything, only used these steps in already black and white photos and papers. O_o

Thanks for the feedback.
My layout is now linked to the gallery for credits.
