EEP. My iPhone 6Plus is finally in my hot little hands and I am like a kid at Christmas! Seriously, I have an unhealthy love of techy toys. Anyway, my 13 year old got my old iPhone 5 so he was pretty happy, too (he was the only kid in Middle School without a phone, and he was actually OK with it).

My 16 year old tells me that "phablets" are totally uncool, but I.just.do.not.care. I can SEE IT! :heartslub

Anyway, I have also just figured out iMovie. Why haven't I been using this all along? I'm such a nerd. I love it! My kids had better watch out. It's video city around here now :giggle

So... any new toys for you? Any on your wishlist for Santa to bring?

Santa will be bringing me a new laptop - yay! I still love my baby, but she's almost 6 years old so it's time. DH needs a new tablet (his Kindle Fire is dying) - any suggestions?

My husband got the iPhone 6 and he really loves it! The 6 Plus just seems SO big....

"phablets".... that made me chuckle this morning. :)

I have a pretty unhealthy love of techy toys, too, by the way. I haven't upgraded to the 6 yet, but it's gonna happen soon!

When I need to upgrade my phone next I think i'm going to get the 6 plus too Jen. I think it would be so awesome to have a bigger screen, especially for movies and TV shows. And well... digi - browsing. :) I really am intrigued by the giant 22-24" all-in-one computers lately. When my desktop needs to be upgraded, I'm pretty sure this is what I'm going to get. Thankfully my computer (hubby built) is still super speedy, so I don't think it'll be for a few more years. I think I better start saving now though!

Getting the iPhone6 for Christmas-- our youngest is getting a phone so we are switching services. I think we are going to T-Mobile, The hubs and son are sticking with Droid, the girls and I are sticking with iPhone. I thought about switching for a Samsung Galaxy s5, but just had to stick with apple-- I love my phone!

we had a H.U.G.E catastrophe at our house yesterday, my son's iPhone has died. I mean completely, totally dead, will not charge or anything. We both have 5's and got them when they first came out so it's literally two years old. I am going to call today and see what it will cost me to get a new battery, can't get him a new phone as we still have a year to go (old 3 year contract).

Last night just let him use my phone so he could chat with his girlfriend. I am thinking his wish and mine for him would be a new phone as I can't stand the moping, lol.

I have an iPhone 5 also that is about two years old... got it for Christmas two years ago. They did a voluntary battery study (aka battery recall) and my phone was covered. I had taken mine in about a month before I found out about the recall and they wanted $79 to replace my battery. I chose not to do it thinking I'd just upgrade at Christmas again. My battery was awful and wouldn't hold a charge and needed to be charged multiple times a day. Anyway, you should check to see if you can get it replaced for free.

Go there to check your serial number. Hope it works out for ya! I love my phone again after getting mine replaced!

thanks Karen I will definitely check it out. Crossing fingers his is one of them, I can easily go across the river to an Apple store if needed.

My 16 year old has a new phone coming as well. He had his stolen (on a youth trip :( ) this summer and we opted to wait until the 6 came out to replace... $200 to replace his 5 with insurance... or $200 to get him a 6 four months later... no brainer. He has been using an old Droid in the interim and we ALL HATE IT. I am actually excited about his new phone... should be in any time, b/c it has such better parental controls on it.

I hope you get your phone squared away, Jaye, that is disappointing. Maybe it's an easy fix. The Apple store or your phone carrier store should be able to help. The Verizon stores here are super helpful... even if you do have to wait 30 mins to talk to someone any time of the day.

I thought the 6+ would feel really big, but after a few days, I just love it. And the bonus is that I never use my iPad anymore, so my young kids are happy about that, hehe.

Re: desktop. I would love to replace my iMac but can't quite justify it. It's 5 years old and I have no complaints about it except it is not a fast as I'd like. I'll keep it until it totally croaks or more likely, will no longer support software upgrades.

We have 2 teen laptops to replace next. One is literally 7 years old (macbook) and won't support any more software upgrades, although it still works fine. My boys have to take laptops to school now, so they have to have them. They may have to settle for cheaper PCs although I'm not sure they end up cheaper in the long run. I found my Dells became outdated way before my Apples. Never had one last 7 years for sure.

I have been an iphone user since the first iphone and have found myself on the fence about where to upgrade next. I am slightly unimpressed with the advances that apple has made compared to the Samsung. Especially in photo quality, which is what matters to me since more than half of my daily photos are taken via cell phone. I really want the 6+, but am still not sure that I don't want to make the leap to Samsung.

Let's see....since June, we have gotten new 27 inch iMacs (fully loaded and upgraded) AND I also got a new MacBook Air for my scrap get togethers!!!! We also got new iPhone 6s when they came out last month!!! We are good for a while I think!

Even though there are a few lenses I want!

My daughter went Samsung from iPhone when she upgraded this year. Mine is eligible and I plan to do a 6+ when it either acts up or I just get the itch. Can't wait to actually be able to see it better!

Karen, thank you for that link! Yes Jen we got it all sorted, so while he will be without his phone until this weekend he is much happier knowing that he will be getting a free battery.

While it didn't work for us, kept getting message wasn't a valid serial number I did call Apple and a customer care person called me back.
She looked his serial # and found that his phone is indeed one of those covered (yay, for free battery). I also had her look up mine and mine is one as well. My battery is nowhere near as bad as his was but does have some issues so we will be replacing both.

Only downfall is because they are Canadian phones I have to have them fixed here. I say downfall because I can be in Detroit in 30 minutes and the closest Apple Store is 2 1/2 hours away on my side. However we lucked out, hockey tournament this weekend is where the Apple Store is...appointment booked for Saturday morning before his second game..

Yay. That did work our well. Karen is a SuperHero!

Hubby will be getting the iPhone 6+ after New Year's. We opted for a less techy Christmas for each other, but very high tech for our kids.

I bought the new Kindle Kids Fire for my grand baby for Christmas. She's as obsessed with techy things as her grandma is, so I know she's going to love it (she's only 1 1/2 LOL). I need to get it out and get it all set up for her.

My computer is acting up. I sent it in and had a new hd put in (it has about 2 weeks left on the warranty), and got it back and now I've got a red and cyan blue screen at all times. They want it back...thinking it's something that's the fault of the place they send their work out to, so I'll be with out it for awhile longer. I'm hoping they can't fix it, that they'll reimburse me what I paid and then I can go get an Apple!! If they fix it, I may just give my laptop to my son when it comes back and still go buy me a new one! I deserve it, right?

Yay! I'm so happy that worked out for you! Woo-hoo! :)

yay for getting new batteries! my iPhone 5 battery died too - but i wanted to upgrade to the 6 anyway, so i just sold it to the store and bought a new one. i went to a family plan with sprint that is $100/month for 10 of us, so even with the loss of my old phone (i think i am out about $200), i end up ahead because my monthly bills are SO much cheaper (about $90/month less!).

i went with the 6 because i thought the plus seemed too big, and now i regret it. i always carry my phone in my purse anyway - so the bigger size would have been nice.

i got a new kindle this summer (i had the original version - LOL - they are so much nicer now!) and a new iMac and macbook pro one year ago ... so i think i'm good to go for a while ;)
