I've never been much of a sleeper. It's probably a good thing because I am too busy to be one of those people that needs 10 hours a night. I would say I probably average 6 hours, sometimes up to 8. My girls are such opposites on this. My youngest is like me...not really a sleeper. My oldest is like my DH. They love their sleep and both get grumpy unless they get at least 9 hours. What about you?
I am light sleeper.. my mind works 24hours all the time.. even when I'm in bed, it's like I'm sleeping but I can be dreaming of a page composition… LOL!! so I don't rest well all the time.. generally I need minimum of 8 hours...
I'm a lot like you Laura from the sounds of it. I usually get between 5 and 6 hours of sleep..but sometimes I just need that extra couple of hours. I very very rarely sleep more than 8 hours (usually if I've just driven myself to the point of exhaustion or am sick). If I get less than 4 though I'm not at all functional for the day.
I function best with lots of sleep - even as a baby, my mom said I was a great sleeper! I'd prefer 9-10 hours, if possible. But, I rarely get more than 7 hours. And I can function on about 4 hours - any less and I'm a hot mess!
I usually go to bed around 12:30-1:00 and sleep til 7 during the week and 7:30 on weekends. I tend to wake up a few times so don't get much deep sleep. I've always been that way. I love to lay in bed and watch tv late at night.
I'm a not a night owl i'm going to bed between 11:30 and 12:00 and wake up around 6:40 the week and 7:30 the weekend. I rarely wake up before 8:00 (only when i'm really tired). Often, I wake up at night and I go back to sleep after 1:30 or 2 hours....
I probably need about 12 but usually only get about 6. I'm a shift worker so my sleep pattern is all over the place. I'm really dragging my butt this week after working 2-10pm and being on call. BUT, my vacation starts at 4pm today so I can't wait to get to get to the cottage for some rest and relaxation and a glass of wine or two!
I must've been sleep-deprived when I posted my first post last night. If I'm lucky I get 7 hours, but it's not a solid 7. Roxy is up 3-4 times a night and I get up and make her go back to bed. On bad days, I'll get up with her and then can't get back to sleep. I've watched my clock tick down the minutes between 3 a.m. and 4:45 (when I normally get up) many a morning! LOL! Weekends are a treat when I can sleep in a whole extra hour and get up at 5:45!
Somewhere between 5 and 8 hours is good for me, I wake often in the night and get up to do things too. I read a lot in bed and that helps. I rarely feel properly tired though!
Ahh, sleep ... a fave topic of mine! For me a good night's sleep is 8 hours, that is perfect. I really need 8 hours in the winter or I am grumpy, headachey and groggy. In the summer .... I don't know if it is the extra sunlight & outdoor time or what .... but I am good to go with about 7 hours sometimes 6 1/2. I love my sleep and am not happy or able to function when I do not get enough. When the occasional bouts of insomnia set in ... stay away! 'Cause they tend to last at least a week or so, and it is not pretty. OMG Julie, it sounds Roxy is the one with insomnia. That would make me crazy! Luckily my dogs don't really wake me to get up or go out, they just get up when I get up.
I typically get 6-8 (most often 8), except on the nights where I work the next day. I have a hard time going to bed early, that whole night owl thing, and get up at 3:45 am to be to work by 6:30 (my commute is an hour and fifteen minutes). I literally have to force myself to go to bed at 10:00 and then I lay there and watch Netflix until 11:00 or 11:30, sometimes midnight. Thank goodness I only work 2-3 days per week or I'd probably be a zombie.
I usually get between 6-8 hrs, the majority of the time it falls on the lower end of that though. During the school year, I get up at 5:15, but this summer I have been struggling to pull myself out of bed by 7. I am not sure how I am going to go back to the 5:15 alarm in another month. I have had sleep issues for years sadly. My problem is getting to sleep not staying asleep though. Once I am out, I am usually out.
I'm like Jenn... I need more sleep in the winter months, and that's also when I have to be at work at 6:30 a.m. yick! I'm usually up until 11:30-midnight on weekdays where I have to get up around 6:45 a.m. On Saturday morning I get to sleep in, so I'll usually stay up later scrapping or watching Netflix, but I get about the same number of hours of sleep... around 7. Before I started digi-scrapping, I'd say I got closer to 9 hours a night. Hmmmm....
6-8 hours if I'm lucky. I need sleep or I'm really grumpy. My youngest has just recently (like in the past 5 months) started sleeping all night without calling me to cover him back up or whatever, so I'm finally getting (mostly) uninterrupted sleep.
I think 6 hrs would be my average, my mind keeps churning and churning....and I start work at 4.30AM so i'm used to getting up very early, very seldom wake up to the alarm...but I don't feel tired, so I guess it works for me. I like the early early quiet time, a cup of coffee, a good book, what could be better than that.
I average 5-7, and can function pretty well. I can so agree with a lot of these posts, my mind just keeps going until its ready to shut off, so once all the kiddos are in bed and hubbs is snoring I often do some art - digi or mixed media - until my bead is ready. However, lately the youngest (18 mo) has deiced that 4 AM is a nice time to wake up - Mama ain't so happy on those days, especially if I stayed up till 1 or 2 doing art. Those are 'straw in the coffee pot' days for me! But then the brain is ready to shut off sooner that night, so it all evens out right?!
I've found that 5-7 is my ideal.. I usually only get around 4-5, though.. I've always been a bit of a night owl, but lately I just haven't been able to get to sleep until 3 in the morning or later.. I'm tired and I WANT to sleep, I just can't..
