The Fault in our Stars?

Tori loves that book. I read it. I didn't find it super sad. I did find it uncomfortable. It was not my favorite book.

I think it could go either way. I loved the book, even though I did think it was sad. I thought it was a great story of "live your life to the fullest."

I bought this for my teen because it was highly recommended. She was reading it on vacation and she cried herself to sleep the night she finished it. I don't think she'll ever forgive me for giving her that book for "summer reading."

I loved the book. While it is sad, I didn't cry while reading it, so it's not too bad. But it takes a lot to make me cry, so... there's that. :)

Oh, I cry during commercials... I will not be reading this :)

I think it depends on life experience too. I thought it was a good book, but as someone who has personally faced cancer and has a sister facing it, I sobbed through the last half of it. literally, ugly cry.

OMG...me too! I cried watching The Taste the other day when the wine maker said his wife died! #Imasap

I cried at a commercial just yesterday b/c it showed a nurse being sweet to a pediatric cancer patient, singing while giving IV meds. Geez.

And Becky, I'm dealing w/ cancer in the family now as well. I don't wanna ugly cry.

I am so sorry you are dealing with that, it is tough. And I definitely recommend something different then!

It is so sad but it is really one of my favorite books ever! John Green's writing is amazing!

Looking for Alaska is also heartbreaking but so good too!

Love the Fault In Our Stars and Looking For Alaska is amazing... actually all John Green's books are fabulous!

Yes, all of his books are AMAZING! He wrote a really funny short novella called Zombicorns. And if you'd like to read one that's not such a tear jearker, I highly recommend Will Grayson, Will Grayson. The audio book is even better because there is singing!

I am also a big fan of John Green's YouTube videos - he and his brother post weekly messages to each other and they also have videos about science and history. They are really brilliant, funny and adorable.

Hank Green produced a series on YouTube called the Lizzie Bennett Diaries. If you like Jane Austen, you need to watch is. It's about 80 short little installments that are a modern take on Pride and Prejudice. It's adorable.

The Green brothers also organize VidCon, which is pretty much a big convention in California for YouTubers, and I'm supposed to be going in June with a friend of mine who has a pretty popular YouTube channel. I can't tell you all how excited I am that I might be in the same building as these guys! I really wonder what their parents fed them. They are beyond awesome. :)

My 16 DD LOVED it and had a good cry at the end ... she keeps badgering me to read it and I WILL ( I do love a book that plays with my emotions!) its just that my TBR pile is as big as the known universe so its hard to find time!!

I absolutely LOVE this book. It's seriously a favorite. Yes, it is sad and yes… I did cry (and I'm not really a cryer when it comes to books). But it's so good. I also really liked Looking For Alaska. I have several more of his books on my to read list…

My DD and I both read it in a 24 hour period. It was a wonderful book, poignant, and while sad, it didn't succumb to sap. We both cried but we're both criers as far as books/tv/movies go.
