Tell me it's OK to dump them...

Cool--just opened a tiff file in PSE11 and yep it works just like a psp--and you can see what the file is--cool.
Now another question--what is the purpose behind the png folders in a template?

Some software can only use .png files for templates. I've been using PSE and digi-scrapping for almost a decade. I would say that if you use PSE or Photoshop, .tiff if your best choice. Smaller file size and you can see the thumbnail of it. If your software can only use .psd or .png, then go with those. Don't keep zip files if you can avoid it... unzip as soon as possible and back up your unzipped files, not the zipped files. I've read too many who backed up zip files or stored zipped and one day the files just quit unzipping.

I only use PSDs, because gimp can't work with Tiffs, so I delete those. I ONLY keep the PSDs and delete everything else!!! My PSDs show up as thumbnails in Picasa, that's the main reason why I have it... and they also show up in the preview of Gimp before I open the file, so I know what I'm opening ;)...

I delete everything but the tiffs, too!! I love that Amy's now got her templates available for purchase by file type in the drop down. Saves me time when I terrorize her store. :)

terrorize :giggle

and yes, Amy is brilliant. this is why we stalk. ;)

I keep the PSD files. I use Bridge to sort through my supplies and it shows a preview.

I delete everything I won't use! I don't need more than one version of the same template. I don't need six versions of the TOU just because there were six download files. I don't need a 200x200 and a 600x600 preview. I don't need previews of everything else they're selling, and links to all their stores and blogs. I don't need both the individual pngs and the sheet of an alpha. I *get* why all those things are there, but I don't need to save them. Delete delete delete.

Some of my templates I only have in PSD from before I used Photoshop. Ones since then I only have TIF. One day I may batch convert the old ones to TIF but it's low on the priority list right now!

Dump 'em girly!!!

I also delete all PSDs & keep the TIFFs. I also delete all the page and png files, and sometimes the JPEG preview! (Tho not usually, cuz the preview tells me who & what store the designer is at).

I was saving only the .psds but recently started saving the .tiffs instead because of the preview. I delete everything else. I always delete the pngs and never keep the zips.
