Tell me it's OK to dump them...

My PSD files for templates! I always use TIF b/c of the teeny bit of space they save, but I seem to be a PSD hoarder. Although I cannot for the life of me figure out why I'd ever need them if I have TIF. It's taking a ton of room on my EHD/HardDrive to have the PSD and TIF of most templates.

Do you keep them both? Can I get rid of them for good? I've finally gotten where I don't even DL PNG files... that's a step in the right direction, right? :giggle

lol. I usually keep just the PSDs but I delete everything else. I'm a hoarder too tho, I keep the whole product zips on our server (which is currently down... aaaack!).

I don't see why you can't just delete everything you don't use... however, I'd hate to be blamed if you ever lost your stuffs ;)

anybody else do the same and delete the unnecessary files?

I just keep the PSD because I like it better than TIFF, so I always delete the TIFF & PNG. Then I'd compress the PSD with 7zip. It usually shrinks the size to half :)

I'm the other way around... I keep the .psd files and delete the pngs and tiff files. I used to keep the tiffs because they showed up as a thumbnail in file explorer now I create a .jpg if there isn't one already and delete everything else.

But, yes! If you don't use the psds... Delete 'em!!!

DUMP, DUMP, DUMP! I even delete a template from a set if it's MEH!

Same reason I keep the TIFFs. I get rid of the PSDs because you can't see a preview of them. Clearly, I'm too lazy to open each file to see what the template is for it... that's just not gonna happen up in here!! So the psd's go straight to the trash!

I'm feeling way better about my massive clean-out plan :).

And I have to remember to choose TIF in Amy's coolio drop down box in the store.

Thanks, guys.

I clear out everything in the template folders. You can see the PSD files on a mac so I don't even keep the previews. I agree - got save room where you can!

I keep my PSDs because I use PSDs in Paint shop pro. I don't need previews because the PSDs show up as previews in the library file thing at the bottom. I delete everything else. I avoid downloading it in the first place if I can lol

Dump the .psds and keep the .tiffs! I like the .tiff file type so much better... shows a preview and the file size is so much smaller. Unless you need .psds due to the software you're using, there's really no reason to keep them. If all that is offered is .psd, I immediately convert to a .tiff.

I think someone mentioned they were keeping .psds but then zipping them to reduce the file size. I personally wouldn't do that because when stored long term, zip files tend to get corrupted. If you're wanting to save space, convert to .tiff and then ditch the .psd files.

I am new to this--and never even tried using the tiff files--they work in PSE??

I delete psd because I like that with tiffs I am able to see the template before opening. Either one works in photoshop so I don't see the need to keep both! When PSD is the only option I convert them to TIFFs and delete the psd's.

Terri, they work exactly the same as PSD in PSE and are a smaller file size. Not a ton smaller, but it adds up over time.

See I can't use tiffs in PSP... When I open them they appear like jpegs (single flattened image that is un-editable)
