Have you done it? Do you hate it?

I normally HATE flying, but this trip to Florida I was fine both directions. It helped that the flights were both smooth, but I think what really helped was having friends with me. I usually fly alone, so it was nice to have a friend there saying "ok we are about to go through the clouds, so it's going to be a little rough for a second". Usually I'm white knuckling it and wondering if I can still get a cell phone signal at that altitude to text my family that I love them. :giggle

My husband is a private pilot, but I won't get in those tiny planes he flies around in no way, no freakin' how. The 737 was about as small as I'm comfortable with. LOL

Where have you flown?

My in-laws live in California (and we are in Georgia), so every so often we pile all six of us in a plane and fly the five hours it takes to get there. Painful. I don't mind flying, but definitely prefer it WITHOUT children :)

I'm not the greatest flyer - I get motion sickness, and the behind-the-ear patches help a lot, but the side effects aren't the greatest. So I don't mind flying, but usually when we do, I'm passed out asleep before we even get off the ground.

I've flown a fair amount and I usually enjoy it. The part I hate is the two hours you have to arrive before your flight, and the check in and the security scanner making you feel like a criminal, etc.

The farthest I've flown was the St. Kitts in the West Indies (south of US Virgin Islands).

I like flying but I hate the airport thing! It's too stressful. I remember a connection I had to make in Miami once and we had to literally run as fast as we could or we would miss the flight. Miami airport is huge. We were the last people on the plane. Last time I was in an airplane was in 2004.

I'm not a good flyer... mostly it's a control issue. I hate feeling trapped and on a plane I feel trapped... I need options :-) I haven't flown in a while but we're gearing up to take the kids on a big European adventure not this summer, but the next and possibly taking our daughter to NYC for a weekend this summer. So, I'm going to have to get on a plane again. Not sure what my longest flight was... before kids, I used to accompany my husband on all of his overseas work trips.

hmm.. I used to be a flight attendant.. so I have been to almost everywhere Malaysia Airlines fly too.. I don't have issues with flying but turbulence is something that freaks me out!! Once one of the engine was on fire... and the pilot had to off the engine and fly with only 2 engines.. and we diverted back to Malaysia!!

I had not flown a single time in my life until I was 32! Seems crazy! But my dad is not a flyer AT ALL! That kind of kept us out of airports.
Flying doesn't bother me too much. My main trips are back and forth to Seattle to visit my sister and the occasional family reunion in Florida with DH family. Other than that all relatives are within driving distance.

I do have some not so fun stories of flying with littles. ARGH!

I really don't like flying, very anxious the whole time, but I do it.

The farthest I have flown was to Australia and New Zealand (and had 14 smaller flights within that summer trip too around both countries).

I have flown to the east coast, to the west coast and everywhere in between!!! I have flown a lot but still not crazy about it!!

I hate flying.

We flew to Hawaii on our honeymoon, Nashville to visit friends, Vegas for SIL's wedding, Houston to visit family twice.

The most memorable was when we flew to Cincinnati. I was 6 months pg and we flew there for a life-saving surgery on our twins (the ones that were in my belly!). I had a ton of extra fluid in my belly due to the disease they had, and it made me miserable. I puked on the plane and then spent the rest of the flight lying flat across the seats in the back, by the bathroom. The people walking by to the bathroom gave me a lot of looks and one lady asked if i was in labor. :D Good grief. It was awful.

The last time we flew to Houston we flew down with DH's good buddy, he's a pilot for some rich dude with his own jet. We flew for free with the kids and it was my best flight - Seth had me sit co-pilot most of the flight and he explained everything to me and actually eased a lot of my fears.

I don't mind the actual flying; I hate getting to the airport a million hours early, waiting in line, being groped by TSA, having to make sure I only have my 1.357485849 ml of fluid in my carry-on or they will kill me, etc.

I have flown to WDW when I was little (don't remember the trip), North Carolina, and Washington state. I wish I could afford to fly more often!

When I was a kid I once flew around over our town in a little plane with a friend of my parents. Other than that, I'd never flown until I flew down here to Dallas for a job interview after I graduated college. I got the job, which was heavy travel, and the novelty quickly wore off. I flew about every 3-6 weeks for 4 years, all over the eastern two-thirds of the US and a few times to Montreal. I think I've only flown about twice in the last 10 years though, and I can't say I miss it. :p

I had a few bumpy flights, but mostly they were uneventful. On a lot of the projects I would work crazy hours, and I'd be so tired that I'd zonk out as soon as I got in my seat and would wake as we were pulling into the gate at our destination. One of the most memorable airports was the little one in the middle of Kansas. My co-worker and I checked in at the desk, and then that same woman who checked us in took our bags outside, guided the incoming plane in from the runway, loaded our bags, and escorted us onto the plane. I was almost surprised that she didn't jump in and fly the plane! :giggle

Oh how I HATE flying! It's a total control freak thing for me too. I tried to get drunk before I flew to Maui, but it didn't work. My nerves absorbed all the alcohol and I was full of anxiety for 6 hours. By the time we made the connecting flight from Honolulu to Maui, my nerves were shot and I literally shook the whole flight.

My longest flight was like 10 hours when I flew to London for work. I was a better flier then (no kids yet) and I'm not sure I could make that flight again.

And in with Angie- no way no how am I getting on those little airplanes. Not happening. Ever.

I hate, hate, hate flying. HATE it. But I do it fairly often...however, it requires a combination of prayer, pep talks and prescription drugs. I do better when my kids are with me because at least then if I plunge to fiery death, I'm not leaving them without a mother. Egad. Morbid, right?! LOL The flights to CHA were hideous. VERY turbulent...like the kind where even the flight attendants are buckled in and totally silent, which is never a good thing. The lady sitting next to me was scared too. So we ended up holding hands for most of the way. Hahahahaha. I'm such a chicken. If DH is with me and, especially if we are flying overseas, I just take enough Xanax to pass out. It's better that way. :giggle

I've always been fine with flying. The one time I wasn't was a particularly turbulent flight from down east up to Toronto. The force of the shaking and the SOUND were scary even for those on board who were very seasoned fliers. When the plane landed the some the passengers, a lot of the passengers were applauding and cheering. I might have a drink in the airport waiting to board, but other than that I'm pretty calm about the whole thing.

I fly about once every 3 months for work. I have traveled to Ecuador, India, Montreal, and many many times to Newark through Philadelphia. For some reason, Newark and Philly tend to be the worst airports IMO. My luggage was lost on both my trip to Ecuador and India, and once on a flight home from Newark we hit a lightning storm. I was in the front row and the guy behind me yelled - "We're going to die, the wing is on fire". The stewardess calmly asked me to turn around and see if I could see anything - really! After that flight landed I was tentative to get back in a plane for some time.

On a funny note (not that it was funny when it happened), but we were flying home from Disney and we almost missed our flight because daylight savings time changed. we had no idea and all of the clocks at the resort and airport were not yet re-set. They were paging us on the loudspeaker - it was quite embarrassing.

One time I was taking off out of Chicago and I guess if you take off over water it's really bumpy? I dunno, but it freaked me out enough that I turned my phone back on and texted my dh "the plane is currently going down into Lake Michigan. I love you. Hug the kids for me".

He replied "yes dear. See you when you get home." :rofl

:lmao

Note to self: Never fly with Angie. We will have the whole plane convinced we're going down!
