Today is National Smoothie Day!

I wish I had read that before I went out...I probably would have picked one up somewhere because that sounds delicious right now. I did have the stuff to make my own, but I'm pretty sure I'm all out. I'm not sure I have a favorite...I pretty much love them all.

Do you enjoy smoothies?
Had one lately?
What's your favorite?
Have any great smoothie recipes to share?

Do you enjoy smoothies? I do, but I just can't drink my calories anymore. There are just not enough calories in a day!
Had one lately? It has been a couple of years since I went out for one at Jamba Juice.
What's your favorite? I'm a strawberry-banana girl.
Have any great smoothie recipes to share? At home, I usually make my protein shake smoothie style, blending ice with my chocolate mix and maybe some peanut butter. If I'm feeling really adventurous, I might add a banana. But first I would have to buy said banana and that is not something I do very often!

I have one every morning for breakfast. Frozen 1/3 to 1/2 banana, strawberries, mango, 1/4 to 1/2 avocado (sometimes I vary or swap in fresh), water, 1TBSP chia seeds, yogurt, squeeze of lemon juice, a big ole handful of spinach. Blendd it all with nutribullet, add more water to desired thickness. I don’t really measure anything but the chia seeds.

Do you enjoy smoothies? Yes!

Had one lately? About a month ago, at Sunday brunch at a local pub. As part of its brunch service, this place brings you a complimentary small juice glass of berry-banana smoothie, no matter what you order. It's just the right size! you get to enjoy a bit of a smoothie, but without going overboard on the sugars and calories!

What's your favorite? Strawberry-banana

Have any great smoothie recipes to share? Sorry, no. I don't make my own smoothies at home, I only enjoy them as a special treat when eating out

I had the last bit of my son’s this morning - chocolate protein powder, frozen fruit mix, water. Not my fave but it was good.

What's your favorite?
Greens & ginger from Jamba Juice (I love the zing of fresh ginger!) or homemade peach Tang with homegrown peaches and Tang orange drink powder and ice.

Here’s the measurements for two Tang smoothies (made in a big Blendtec)

Peach
1/2 scoop tang
Fill to 12 oz with cold water
Fill to 24 oz with ice
2 large fresh peaches, with or without peel (if green/tart, use 1 full scoop Tang no peel)
Amazing!

Berry
1 scoop Tang
Fill to 20 oz with cold water
1 cup frozen berries
1 cup frozen blueberries
Add more ice or berries for more slushy consistency

I have all the good intentions of making protein shakes at home and then I never do lol Sounds yummy, though!!

Do you enjoy smoothies? Yes I do!
Had one lately? I had one for lunch today
What's your favourite? I love a good banana and yoghurt smoothie
Have any great smoothie recipes to share? Just a banana, dairy free yoghurt (coconut is my favourite), coconut water, a dash of maple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon ... delicious! And it helps soothe reflux pain so win/win

I have one several times a week - it's always a base of 2 scoops vanilla protein powder (one with very few ingredients and only ones i can pronounce so it's not like the back of a shampoo bottle) in 2 cups of 'milk' (half dairy & half soy milk because i still can't bring myself back to normal dairy after so many years on soy) & 2 big spoons of greek yoghurt with some kind of fibre (soaked chia seeds usually or a linseed/sunflower/almond mix) and then some kind of fruit that i change up to offset the greek yoghurt sourness (usually frozen mango or blueberries or mixed berries - DS likes canned peaches or apricots and we started making smoothies back when he got braces and he was struggling with chewing proteins) - sometimes i add honey but it doesn't always blend well (it seems to settle out faster than the other ingredients if i let it sit in between doing things - density matters in food science!)

(i make them myself because i get annoyed that the cafes i've ordered smoothies at often have banana in them (even if it's not listed in the brief blurb on the menu) and while it helps bulk it out, there's an enzyme or something in banana that nullifies the specific antioxidant in blueberries and if i'm paying for the blueberries, i want the health benefits and to taste them, rather than the banana )

DD often makes a version that's just frozen raspberries and coconut water - my Ninja bullet thing is probably one of my most used single function appliances!

Do you enjoy smoothies? I do, but they have to be homemade
Had one lately? No, it’s been a while
What's your favorite? Banana, mango, passion fruit mixed with milk and Greek yogurt and some chia seeds.
Have any great smoothie recipes to share? I haven’t got any recipes, I just throw in a bit of this and a bit of that.

I did not know that about mixing bananas and blueberries! Very good info!!
I actually have a Ninja bullet thing and rarely use it...after this thread, I may be changing that!
