Smoothies

Do you enjoy smoothies? I do, but they have to be homemade
Had one lately? No, it’s been a while
What's your favorite? Banana, mango, passion fruit mixed with milk and Greek yogurt and some chia seeds.
Have any great smoothie recipes to share? I haven’t got any recipes, I just throw in a bit of this and a bit of that.
That sounds amazing!! Anything with mango is a must try for me!

I love smoothies! I have them about 4 days a week.

1/2 to 3/4 cup frozen berries
1 ounce frozen smashed avocado (costco mini hockey-pucks)
2 cups fresh spinach, loosely packed (not squished)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Do you enjoy smoothies? Yes, but more like slushies than smoothies.
Had one lately? Yes, yesterday morning
What's your favorite? My own special recipe
Have any great smoothie recipes to share? A splash of grenadine, 1/3 tin of sprite, equal amount of orange juice, and lots and lots of ice! Yum!

Do you enjoy smoothies? Yes, absolutely!

Had one lately? I had one last week. Honestly, the reason I don't have them more is because sometimes I don't feel like washing the blender lol.

What's your favorite? I love so many different ones. My most common smoothie is a berry mix with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, chia seeds, flax seeds, cinnamon, oatmilk (or almond or soy), and a handful of spinach or kale. I'll taste it and sometimes add a bit of monkfruit sweetener if the berries weren't sweet enough, though I don't mind very mild sweetness. I also like doing a tropical smoothie with pineapple, fresh oranges, lemon, and a banana. Another I love when I feel like dessert is banana, oatmilk, flaxseed, peanut butter powder (or real peanut butter), cocoa powder.

Have any great smoothie recipes to share? I don't really do recipes. I just throw stuff in, blend, taste, and adjust.

I did not know that about mixing bananas and blueberries! Very good info!!
I actually have a Ninja bullet thing and rarely use it...after this thread, I may be changing that!
here's the science if you want sources - i think a few studies have found this now-
"Bananas contain an enzyme called polyphenol oxidase (PPO). When you blend bananas and berries together, this enzyme can break down the flavanols (heart-healthy antioxidants) found in blueberries, potentially reducing your body's ability to absorb them."

apparently 1 banana is enough to cancel out blueberries antioxidnt benefit but the vit C and fibre are still beneficial if you absolutely must have a banana berry combo smoothie because quality of life! - there's caveats, like don't let the combo smoothie sit too long before drinking it and alternatively, if you can swallow blueberries whole (not that many people would) and then have a banana smoothie, there's less antioxidant loss as well, i figure because in this case the skin provides a protective barrier to the blueberry insides and either that alone, or maybe the acidic stomach environment, slows down the enzyme

LOL relatable! (one of the ninja bullet things selling points to me was all the parts that touch food are dishwasher safe! game changer!)

I don't like to clean the blender either. Also...the noise. If I'm going to have one, it's going to be in the morning, and I live with 2 women who work different shifts than I do (one works overnights, so when she is home, she's sleeping!), plus we have an attached studio apartment with a new person living next door. I don't want to wake anyone!

I do enjoy smoothies, but I rarely make them and don't buy them very often either. Seems like the best ones are packed with calories that I probably don't need. Lol. I used to make a green monster smoothie that was "healthy". It was like almond milk, banana, powdered peanut butter and tons of spinach and must have has ice too? I can't remember what I added to make it thick. Anyway, those were super tasty and I felt healthy because it has fruit and veggies in it.
