I hate food shopping so tend to put it off until the fridge/cupboards won't allow any meals to be put together!
What are your go-to, always have on hand items that you purchase most every week?
Bread, cheese, milk, cat food, minced (ground) beef, chicken breasts, baked beans, eggs, butter, cake, biscuits, oranges, grapes, bananas, tomatoes, pasta/rice, potatoes, brocolli, carrots, red bell peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, deli meat for sandwiches.
Are you able to get everything from a single store?
We have a local Lidl that's pretty good, but I can't do a whole shop there, so I tend not to go often. I have a Sainsbury's that has the scan and shop option (you scan the goods with a handheld scanner, put them in your shopping bags, then run the scanner at a checkout at the end - no need to unload the trolley onto the belt and put the goods back into the bags). I love this so that is my go to store.
Do you have a set day(s) that you do your food shopping?
The day when there is nothing left to eat, whenever that falls on! I traditionally used to do it on Saturday, but my procrastination often means that it gets pushed to Sunday or even later in the week.
Have you tried or do you regularly do pick-up orders?
I did click and collect a couple of times in the past, but if I'm online ordering, I'll have it delivered since I work from home anyway. I have done online shopping occasionally, usually either when I'm ill or the car is in the garage.
If we run out of a couple of bits, such as milk or bread, I'll call at a smaller convenience store (the local Co-Op) that is slightly nearer, stocks the basics and doesn't take long too walk around (so quick in and out).
