So, last night I had a bout of food poisoning that was, um, not pretty! I remember thinking "so this is how I die" :giggle I think the last time I had a bout of food poisoning was on vacation in Thailand but I wasn't expecting it just living my regular life!

When was the last time you had food poisoning?

I've had a few times in the last year or so that might have been a mild case, each time the symptoms started to improve within 24 hours. But over 25 yrs ago I had a case of food poisoning that I will never forget. It was so severe that I lay on the floor in the bathroom for about 16 hrs before I started to feel like I might live. It still took the next day to start coming out of it enough to sip water and hold it down. That was nasty!

Yeah, I'm feeling much better today but really weak and don't want to eat anything! Glad you survived - it's no joke!

That's awful, I'm not sure exactly when, but probably within the last year. I think the last time it resulted in some pretty uncomfortable pains, but not too bad otherwise. Lots of fluids to help rehydrate.

When we went to an all inclusive in Mexico this past January! 9 out of 11 of us got sick. While it didn’t ruin our vacation, it put a real damper on the week! Normally, all inclusives are not our first choice for a vacation and we probably won’t be going to another as this was the 2nd time I got food poisoning at one.

Oh that's rough!

I used to suffer with gastroenteritis periodically as a child and I've had digestive issues for years with one thing and another (gall bladder issues are the worst!) so I'm not sure that I would readily be able to tell between all of the other problems.

@dawnmarch take it easy and keep up the fluids!

I have not been food poisoned for ... I'm not sure, but over 13 years, since it's 13 years now since I became a vegetarian. Before that, it happened like once or twice every year, often cuz we bought take away.

Started October 3, 2022 after dinner and felt awful the whole next day.

Only reason I remember is that the next day was my birthday and it wasn't a good one (although it was better than my birthday in 2023 when I was in the hospital waiting to go home after surgery).

I only remember once. It was in 2000, after eating scrambled eggs from a buffet in Las Vegas, where I was attending a a pre-wedding celebration.

I don't really remember when it was, but I do remember the "so this is how I die" part :lol
Hope you're feeling better!!

It's not the moste recent time but it's the one most traumatizing. February 2020 just before COVID takes the world wild.

I was in Korea and after a dinner with raw shrimps I spent the next afternoon and night emptying my body of all fluids from both sides... Sorry
First time I wet (not to say anything else...:badmood) my pyjamas in front of the in-laws because I couldn't make it to the restroom of the flat we were renting, I didn't know yet there was another bathroom at that specific moment. I made it to the sink to puke but I unfortunately had my rear facing my in-laws... Thank god I had change of clothes for the next day.

Anyway. Never eat raw food in Korea, that is the lesson.
I have never had food poisinning in Japan, THE country of raw. My first try to one of the few raw dish in Korea and now I am traumatized for life.

Oh Nini, I can definitely relate after last night! Coincidentally I think it was undercooked Korean beef that did me in.

SAME! I've had food poisoning a few times and was sure I was dying. The worst was at Disneyland!! I spent a very long time in the bathroom, thought the worst of it was over so I went to find my family and quickly realized I needed to go back to the bathroom, but didn't make it and ended up throwing up in a flower bed :thumbsdowns

Oh gosh.. not fun.. feel better.

I think the last time with food poisoning was 1986 on a dinner cruise on the Banana River in Florida... it was the bleu cheese dressing got warm... come to think of it, maybe Dec. 2011 at Ruth Chris' steakhouse for a Christmas lunch.. once again, the bleu cheese dressing.

oh Lynnette.. I am so sorry... that first issue after the dinner cruise, the next day my Mom, my friend and I were going to WDW Epcot and Dad went to work.. he was sick at work, and Mom, me and my friend were stopped at the Land pavilion just taking turns in and out of the bathroom for about 2 hours. I was the driver on the way over (45 min drive from my parents) and Mom and my friend kept complaining how they did not feel well and their stomach was not good.. All I wanted was for them to be quiet as I experienced the same and could not wait to get to the park! LOL after all of that mess, we ended up feeling better and enjoyed a few hours at the park with no further issues.

Feel better, Dawn! I can't imagine, and don't want to jinx myself. lol

That is the worst! 3 of the 4 of my family members had a stomach bug over Christmas this year. I thought it was food poisoning, but since the other 4 people ate the same things and didn't get sick, we decided it was something else. Either way, same symptoms and it was awful... and I thought the same thing about dying. Lol. I remember that for days afterward I didn't want to eat anything because it wasn't worth it if it upset my stomach, so I was super weak too. I hope you're feeling back to normal soon Dawn!

Oh and the one time I did have food poisoning was from shrimp cocktail in about 1998. I still don't really want to eat shrimp cocktail with the cocktail sauce because of that. Yuck!
