*****CLOSED & WINNER ANNOUNCED*****GAME: The Great December Debate | DYD 2025

FIRST QUESTION--NOVEMBER 14th

Christmas Tree: Real or Artificial?
I'm team artificial on this one, but I need to replace mine. I love that it is a slimmer version and it easily splits into 3 pieces that stash in the box that I can fit in a closet. When my husband and I bought our first house, we bought a live small pine that we planted.

I'm lovin' everyone's stories and experiences and hoping no trees catch on fire this year! If you're just joining us, you can go back and answer the earlier questions. If you've already answered our first two questions don't go back and add to your previous post, because I'm tracking your entries as we go.

THIRD QUESTION--NOVEMBER 14th

Twinkle Lights: Pure White or All the Colors of the Rainbow?

(Unless you're high tech like @Brendazzle and your fancy tree does both!)

FIRST QUESTION--NOVEMBER 14th

Christmas Tree: Real or Artificial?

Artificial. As a kid, we've never had a real tree, because my mom has been eco-conscious before it was cool.

SECOND QUESTION--NOVEMBER 14th

Winter Beverage: Hot Cocoa or Eggnog?

Neither! Eggnog isn't even a thing here, and by reading how it's made I'm glad it's not a tradition here! Also, I don't like hot beverages, so I haven't had a hot cocoa in ages. I'd rather eat a chocolate bar!

THIRD QUESTION--NOVEMBER 14th

Twinkle Lights: Pure White or All the Colors of the Rainbow?

Warm white. Multi color lights seem a bit cheap to me; it's like the bad side of the 80s being here again.

I definitely opted for the multi-color lights on my artificial tree when I used one, because our ornaments are quite the mix and my kids loved it, but I am really drawn to pure white, too. So pretty when mixed with red and gold or blue and white. Still....c'mon! This is absolutely charming!

Side story...this was right off my craft area...you can see part of my shelving unit I built from flat-packs. Gosh, I miss that space. :hissy

I think if I was going to scrap about this choice, I might compare and contrast with my roommate's choice purchased last year. She bought a tree with white lights (they look kind of gold in the photos).

Twinkle Lights: Pure White or All the Colors of the Rainbow?

I prefer mine to be non-blinking warm white small bulbs (not the old fashioned big ones). At one time I had some little round white ones, but they quit on me.

Twinkle Lights: Pure White or All the Colors of the Rainbow?
(Unless you're high tech like @Brendazzle and your fancy tree does both!)
I am so fancy! :giggle To be fair, almost all the light bulbs in my house are smart bulbs so we change the colors as the whim strikes us too.

Obviously, I need to scrap photos of my tree in both rainbow mode and cozy white mode. I like to do that in a pocket page, along with close-ups of the lights on some of our ornaments. I need to remember to try rainbow tree with the light-up Pokemon ornament one of these years.

FIRST QUESTION--NOVEMBER 14th

Christmas Tree: Real or Artificial?

Artificial now. Early on it was articial and when we moved into our present home, for a few years we did real, but kids gone and artificial now. A short, slim, prelighted tree (very good sale!!) and we done!

SECOND QUESTION--NOVEMBER 14th

Winter Beverage: Hot Cocoa or Eggnog?

Neither, but I am more of a hot beverage- coffee or tel

FOURTH QUESTION--NOVEMBER 14th

Elf on the Shelf: Visits every day or Why would I do that to myself?

Although I find it amusing when I see really good Elf Visit ideas online, I would never subject myself to the obligation and stress of having to create some mischievous scene every night! Good on ya, if you do! It was not a thing when my older kids were growing up...it started when my youngest was old enough to enjoy it, but did I know about it? Of course not, because I had teenagers, too, and was driving them hither and yon.

I don't know how I'd scrap a not doin' it page! LOL Maybe an apology to my youngest son who missed out!?

For beverage....I'm firmly team hot cocoa/chocolate but given it's summer for Christmas here it's actually neither

No elf for us here. Kiddo is not a fan of mischief and misbehaving (see: refused to watch The Grinch with us) and we don't do Santa here. He knows about Santa and what he stands for but all the presents come from us. We don't do a naughty list; we try our best to embody the spirit of Santa and help make sure other kids get gifts this time of year.

I feel like I should try to coax him into our Stitch elf ears to help wrap our donation presents this year. Then I could use some elf elements to scrap it.

Both! But hot cocoa most often.
