With our recent gallery upgrade, we lost the ability to select multiple categories for a single layout. Since customization for that feature is not available right now, I’ve set up a creative solution so you can still indicate all the designers and the challenge or other category your layout belongs to — while still choosing one primary gallery category.
The solution is tags.
This is our new process for now. If a customization becomes available in the future to bring back multi-category selection, I’ll update everyone. But for the time being, tags are the cleanest way to keep layouts organized, consistent, and searchable.
Tag available for use. Please do NOT add a hashtag in front of these.
The solution is tags.
- Tags can be used in the gallery only (not in the forums or elsewhere).
- We have an approved tag list (included below).
- Only admins can create new tags. This is intentional — it protects the integrity of our data and keeps filtering simple and consistent for members and designers alike.
- As tags get used more often, they’ll begin to pre-fill and be easier to select. (At first, you may need to type them in exactly.)
When uploading a layout:
- Pick your primary gallery.
- I recommend always selecting Member Gallery first. That way, your layout will always show in your own gallery.
- Add all applicable tags.
- Example: if you use five designers’ products, tag all five.
- If it’s also part of a challenge, tag the challenge too.
- To add tags, you will see this field after you upload your layout.
-
- In this field, is where you want to type the tag that you need (please refer to the list below for the tags available for use).
- Once you save the layout, all the tags will save as well.
- Tags will show like this on you layout after saving.
- Search by tags.
- On the gallery page, you’ll see a tag filter in the lower-left corner.
- This lets you browse layouts by designer, challenge, or project across the gallery
What about old layouts?
Don’t worry — the existing gallery categories aren’t going anywhere. All of your historical layouts are still intact in their categories. You don’t need to go back and re-tag anything. This tagging system is simply a way to mimic multiple categories going forward. This is our new process for now.
