For me, it's my office. I don't work anymore so I sit at my desk and watch youtube or netflix most of the time while I scrap or create jewelry. It's on the main floor with a wide open doorway so I can hear my hubby if he calls out to me for something, but it's off the hallway so it's a bit private, not part of the open floor plan. I have two windows off to the side of my desk so I get lots of light. I've got some of my wildlife photos on the walls and a kneeling chair that is good for my back. The dogs like to come in and nap under my desk or close by. I keep a crate in the room so any of the dogs can crawl in for some private quiet time, they all take turns. After morning coffee and browsing on my phone for an hour or so while sitting in the kitchen nook, I slip into my office with a second coffee and get onto my PC. Remi usually crawls under the desk for a nap after her breakfast. In our other home, my office was a large open space on the third floor where I felt too isolated from the rest of the house, I like this floor plan a lot more.
Hmm... If I'm home alone or hubby is busy doing something, I love my craft room. It's in the basement and is nice and large. It's cluttered with my ongoing projects most of the time, but I love being able to play down there and since it's isolated from the rest of the house I don't care if it's messy because it's out of sight. If hubby is around, I love to hang out in our living room on the big comfy sectional couch.
Hmm... my house is so small, that they all merge in my mind, lol! I can hear (well, if I have my HA in) from most spots besides my bedroom. I would say the living area... it's where we sit and chat, I scrap on a laptop so that can move to the sofa, and if the boys are in the DR, I can talk to them, or work there myself. We don't have a lot of space, so the bedrooms are usually private but everywhere else is open and you can see each other from each space... unless you are in the basement. The boys use that for friends mostly.
Probably my bedroom. After the years of intruders and damage to windows etc, my bedroom became my safe space & it's where my computer is.
My kitchen. We have big windows that look out onto the natural area behind the house. It is my peaceful spot, where I get to appreciate nature and how blessed we are! I like to sit and read a book on my iPad while having breakfast or lunch and glance up every so often to see the trees, the pond, and the birds!
Small house, so I mainly hang out in my living/dining room. Before my youngest GK moved out last year, I'd use my laptop on the dining room table. Now I have a mini desk in the nursery/den that's always been used as a tiny bedroom and still has a twin bed, dresser and bookcase in there. In order to open the closet door I have to move the mini desk.
My favorite room in the kitchen/family room. It is one long combined room. It has our desk with my computer where I do all of my digi scrapping. I can watch TV from here, participate in conversations as others sit on the big sectional or talk to anyone in the kitchen preparing food. It is the hang out spot in our home.
Our bedroom. It really functions as a bedroom/office for my husband and I and the whole family is ALWAYS in here. Like, I ate lunch in my bed watching a cooking show with my mom yesterday while she was visiting. My brother watches his streams in here on Sundays. My camera collection is partially on display, I scrap here, I read here... it's my happy place. I want to love the giant living room/dining room/kitchen nook area but it's not so giant when there's furniture in it and one whole wall is predominantly windows so the lighting can be hit or miss. My son hangs out in the living room recliner most days if we're not doing anything else.
In winter I love the sun filled spot on my bed. In summer my garden swing overlooking the pool. In the evening it's the couch with the tv on and three cats. There is nothing quite like the electric blanket warmed bed on a cold rainy night.
I have 2 favorite spots in my house. First is the comfy chair in my bedroom. It's a "chair and a half" we had purchased for our family room in 2011. It (and the sofa we bought at the same time) were cheap and upholstered in "pleather," a fake leather that started peeling away in flakes a few years after we bought the set. (If you saw Voldemort's demise in the last Harry Potter movie, his face flaking away, it was like that, only slow, over months. ) So a few years ago, we threw out the sofa (which had structural issues, besides the flaking fabric) but I kept the comfy chair for myself. I cover it with blankets so its blemishes are unseen, toss all the throw pillows on it, and it's as comfy as ever. I read and listen to podcasts and color there, sitting beside a window, watching the sun rise. My other favorite spot is my desk chair. It's meant to be a gamer's chair, very cushioned, high backed, and it can recline. I like to sit cross legged, and this chair allows that. If you join us in our new TLP Google Meet video chats, you can see me sitting in it. Oooh, after I pressed send and scrolled up to read Stefanie's I thought of my dream favorite spot. I've been wanting to have a porch swing or at least rocking chairs on my ample porch for many years. It has just been so low priority, financially, so we have yet to furnish our porch. (Again, I mean. We did soon after we moved here in 2000, but the furniture was stolen in 2003.) Someday!
You described my favorite room exactly! After my surgery I couldn't get down the stairs. That was HORRIBLE! My therapy goal was to be able to use the stairs. Now I can come down any time - and do! DH has to remind me when it's time to join the rest of the world again.
I’m always torn between laying in my bed in my bedroom and sitting with my feet up on the couch in the living room. Those are my two cozy spots.
I used to have a reclining Lazy Boy "chair and a half" ... I LOVE that chair ... it was a great place to snuggle up with a grandkid (or two) or with our puppy. Unfortunately after 20 years of daily use it fell apart, worse of all, Lazy Boy no longer sells them ... or at least not reclining ones.
Yes, I have many photos of my 3 kids, or me and a number of my kids, snuggled up in the chair in the early years. I should make a scrapbook page of the chair's life from family room furniture to being shoved into the corner of my bedroom and being just for me.
Interesting question that I've actually never thought of before. I don't think I have a favorite. It depends on my mood and what I'm doing
