Lilypad Book Club - let's select our first book!

Well if a Jane Austen book is ever picked I will be in LOL. Love Jane Austen. This sounds like a lot of fun but I am very picky about what I will read. I would totally suggest some of the older classics though. They lend themselves to good discussion based on the period of their writing and the views reflected and expressed during those times through the writing.

Yay!!! Totally excited to start too!!

I've been intrigued wirh Debra's fav book, Here Be Dragons -sounds like a really cool and fun read!

I sent a copy to my sil years ago, and she had her book club read it. I've probably read it three times...and I could totally read it again!

Is it really over 700 pages? (Here Be Dragons) I honestly didn't think it had that many. Like I said, I've read it three times. It's one of those books that you can't put down!

I tried to read "The Book Thief". I got a few chapters in and was struggling. I'd be up to try it again though.

I'll play! I love to read, but like Jamie, I read at a pretty superficial level, but it is one of my favourite past times (when I find time for myself)!

here's a library card printable for you:

I love that Deborah - what a great idea! Thank you! :)

like amanda, i'm really a big fan of classics. i'm pretty picky about what i will continue to read... i'll start almost anything, but whether i will finish it is another matter altogether. jane austing - love. also love books such as Count of Monte Cristo - would reread that one as many times as I'm asked. But I'm willing to at least start almost anything :)

Ooohh.... I'd love to be a part of this.
Especially since it's summer, I read... ALOT (usually in the boat while the rest are fishing) HAHA!!

I would love to have a chance to get it reserved from the library too (whichever book we pick).
I'm not opposed to buying them if I knew they were good beforehand.

Ooooh me me me! We go to the library every week during the summer so lots of time to pick out new books to read :) I'm up for reading anything!

Oooh! I love that book. It has been quite some time since I read it (probably when it first came out).

I actually enjoyed I Know This Much Is True (also by Wally Lamb) even more than She's Come Undone.

I have that as well, but had a hard time getting into it, so it's sat (for a LONG time...eek) unread. Might need to bust that out.

Have you read his other one: The Hour I First Believed ?
It's based off of the Columbine shootings... it's amazing, but so vivid that I had to put it down about 1/2 way through.
