    Hi!

For years I've been using SmugMug to store/share my photos and layouts, but the cost is going up to $82 a year for the basic plan, which is effectively pricing me out. I haven’t used it for storage, I use EHDs for that. There are many things I love about it, like no advertisements, but with the crazy economy and inflation hitting us hard I need to start cutting back on the non essentials.

Is there another service like it out there that is less expensive per year? I know in the grand scheme of things it really isn’t much, but right now every dollar saved helps.
    Thanks!

We use Google Photos. I create albums and share with a link. I have also ordered photos right from Google Photos for printing at CVS. 100 GB for $17.99/ year.

I mainly store photos on 3 EHD's lol, but I do use Google Photos for storing and sharing. Google One plans range from $19.99 a year to $100 a year, or monthly $2-$20. I also have some photos stored on Amazon Photos because I have Amazon Prime. I just haven't taken the time to add most of them there.

Google Photos is the only one I use anymore. It's just so easy! Plus, my sister's family has a Google One plan because of their phones and they could have 5 family members, so they added me to theirs and I get tons of extra storage for free.

What are you using it to share? That may help narrow down what type of service you might want.

Not for much. Mostly for sharing photos with family and friends who live across the states and in Sweden. Also for sending old family photos that I've scanned back to me without having to use a thumb drive. I hope that made sense. ha! When I visit my sisters I scan their collection of old family photos. Uploading them somewhere helps me to organize and journal the info on each photo. SmugMug is raising their rates to $82 a year for the basic plan and I can no longer afford them.

I'm on an Android phone, so I do use Google Photos to share. I have an album that constantly updates with any photos of my niece I take, and my sister shares the album and downloads photos she wants. I find Google photos can be clunky when you want others to upload photos for you, especially if they are on an iPhone. Well, I find it clunky trying to walk my mom and dad through uploading to Google Photos on her iPhone. Maybe it's just them!

You could also consider Shutterfly. You can create albums of photos there, and the other person can view them and download them. It's unlimited storage, but you have to purchase something once every 18 months to keep your account active, and they do delete after 5 years of inactivity.

For our last vacation, I decided to use my NAS to collect photos. This is a more expensive option than Google Photos, and your photos aren't backed up to the cloud. It's my own Hard Drive, so another storage option, and my photos are under my control. It is probably more than you need for your use case. I migrated to a NAS about a year ago because I wanted to not pay for extra Google storage. But Google storage is much cheaper than a NAS.

Yeah, I use them for printing albums. And I just received notice that I need to order something or have my stuff deleted. lol! I haven’t scrapped in a long time so I’d have to work fast to get something ready for printing.

Or, do a calendar. Easy to upload, and easy to print! And usually some sales around this time of year.

I just missed the free extra pages offer. I got the three hour warning but never received notice it had started. Oh well! Maybe I’ll get some photos printed to use for Christmas Cards. That would work.

Since every EHD will eventually die, I completely stopped using them (I'm very risk adverse when it comes to photos). I use both Amazon photos and Apple Photos. I work off of a Macbook, so all of my photos taken with my phone or uploaded to my laptop are automatically saved to the Cloud where I have the ability to share albums that people can comment on or like.
