Today is National Mail Order Catalog Day! When I realized that, I really went down a rabbit hole of nostalgia LOL. I used to LOVE catalogs. My mom always had tons of them growing up and ordered quite often. My dad loved Sharper Image, and, of course, every Christmas we would go through the Sears Catalog and circle everything we wanted. There were so many good ones! Then came Fingerhut. That place gave credit to everyone hahaha.
    I've ordered from
    Oriental Trading
    Chadwick's of Boston
    LL Bean
    Victoria's Secret
Probably a bunch of others I can't remember the name of right now.

Have you ordered from a Mail Order Catalog? Anything recently?
    Did you have a favorite?

I was a very good customer of Herrschnerr's craft catalog in the 80's!I ordered clothes from Blair in the 90's.

And, there was always a Penney's and Sear's catalog in the house when I was growing up. We had a Penney's store that actually had stuff for sale with the catalog desk at the back of the store. If you ordered from the catalog, you would pick it up in the store and returns were easy! There was a Sear's in town but it was only a catalog pickup/return store. Having both was very convenient since we didn't have to drive the 20 miles to another town just to pick up catalog orders.

It's been so long since I've ordered from a catalog, that I am now off of any catalog mailing lists.

I don’t think I’ve ever ordered from a mail order catalog! The closest thing I can think of was when I bought my first set of music CDs in the mail.

My mum was a rep for a mail order catalogue when I was a child. I don't remember which one. Nearly the whole street ordered via her.

Lillian Vernon, Miles Kimball, Spiegal, Vermont Country Store, LL Bean, Lands End, Radio Shack, Oriental Trading and (of course) Sears, Montgomery (Monkey) Wards and JC Penney. I'm sure there were others.

Oh how about Mary Kay, Avon, Tupperware, Princess House (crystal), Discovery Toys, Creative Memories, Close to My Heart, Stampin' Up, etc.???

My fav was the Betty Crocker catalog ... I got my stainless flatware from there ... point by point, LOL.

I still order from LLB and Lands End, but online vs. mail order. Last Christmas I made old-fashioned red mesh stockings for all the "kids" in the family filled with trinkets from Oriental Trading.

I was waiting to see what you posted! We grew up in the era of mail order catalogs. Another one I would order from was One Hanes Place. Might have ordered from Oriental Trading but that was in the online era. I think I got a few more catalogs that were geared towards crafts but I don't remember the names of them. Herschnerr's was the biggie. How about Longaberger??? Besides the monthly flyers they had semi-annual catalogs.

There is a small closet in the hallway right across from the bathroom door. Mom always called it the linen closet since that is where she put the extra sheets. There was one shelf that had nothing but catalogs. As a kid I couldn't wait to see the Christmas Wish List catalog from Sears. Lots of turned down corners in that one!!!

How could I have forgotten Longaberger given how many of their baskets I have. And yes, I used to get craft catalogs, but I don't remember the names.

I have a small linen closet in my hallway ... filled with shelves from top to bottom where I store bedding, towels, extra pillows, blankets, throws and med.

Cath - I still order Christmas gift wrap from Current ... forgot about them too.

That sounds like my linen closet. Mine is only the width of a regular door so not a lot of space. These days it has the extra bath towels, beach towels, a basket with hair dryer and curling irons and other miscellaneous items. I no longer have room for the bath towels in the bathroom after the remodel (no shelf space, all drawers) so they got moved to that closet. With all the drawers I do have room for all the small stuff in the bathroom! The catalog shelf in the closet has bath towels these days since I don't get catalogs any more.

I forgot about Current. Mom and I ordered a lot of stuff from them over the years!

I do know some places still send out catalogs. The mail person will deliver some to me instead of the correct address. It is the same house number as mine but a different street. Whoever does the sorting of those gets them in the wrong order in the basket the mail person uses in their truck. The first time it happened, I dropped it in a mailbox on my way to work. It ended up in my mailbox again the next day. I now put them in my recycle bin.

Yep, that's what I do with any obvious junk mail that's misdelivered to my house ... along with any credit offers that Will gets, lol!!!

I'm not sure if I've ordered from a catalog or not. I think I did find some things in a Lands End catalog and placed an order because of that. Also, I guess I used to order a TON from Stampin' Up catalogs. And I've done Tupperware and Pampered Chef, so those count too, right? Lol.

When I was a kid I remember getting the JCPenney (toy) catalog around Christmastime and studying that thing like my life depended on it. :giggle

Sooooo ... I just ordered 24 Halloween rubber ducks from Oriental Trading. Am doing a five day cruise with my granddaughter in October and apparently hiding ducks on the ships is a thing. Cruise theme is "Halloween on the High Seas." Went back and forth between pirate ducks (there's a pirate party w/fireworks) and the Halloween ducks (also a Halloween party) and decided on the Halloween ones b/c the pirate party happens year round, but the Halloween party is limited event.

If you find a duck you're suppose to post a selfie with it on Disney Cruising Ducks' Facebook page, then you can keep the duck or re-hide it. Anyhow something fun to do (and scrap), lol!!!

I do a fair bit of online shopping, but I honestly can't remember the last time I ordered from a catalog. It's been years and years.

But I am loving the nostalgia in this thread, and this really resonates:

For me and my sisters, it was the annual Sears Christmas Wish Book. We were always so excited when that catalog arrived! We would peruse the toy section over and over again, until the pages were dog-eared, and we had a game where you had to choose one item from each page (kind of like TLP's Pick-a-Prize!), but you couldn't choose more than one...

One year my sister's youngest boy circled nearly all of the "boy" toys in the Sears Wish Book ... it was hilarious!!! I wonder if she kept that Wish Book ... I probably would have.

Whenever my kids complain about shipping times I launch into the "back in my day" spiel about mail order catalogs and the weeks it could take and then having to pay to ship it back if it didn't fit and wait again, etc etc. It's kind of fun reminiscing... lol. I was a teenager in the 90's so I was always so excited when the Delia*s and Alloy catalogs would come in the mail but I can't remember the last time I actually ordered anything from one as an adult!

I actually don't remember looking at too many catalogs. I do remember Sears, there was a home decor one I would look at and mark pages for my "dream" home...and I can't even remember the name of it.

It's been years since I got a mail order catalog - I used to get one for a Clothing/Home Decor store. From memory, I received three catalogues, their seasonal one which covered everything they sold, their plus size women's clothes & their home decor. I can't remember when I stopped getting it delivered but that store went into receivership a few years ago. I also used to get catalogs from a craft store sent to me but they went all digital and to be honest I wasn't buying anything mail order after the first time because of the shipping charges. I only did it because the local stores didn't have what I wanted and the sale was finishing that day, The only other catalog of sorts I get is from a rewards company with a catalog of rewards on offer. At the height of the program there were probably 50ish retailers or services (think groceries, gas, credit card spending, home improvement stores, utility bills etc that offered points per $x spent. Now they are shutting the program down this year. Over the years my mum and I have had two separate vacations/staycations at hotels/motels, a slow cooker, various Christmas gifts for family (one Christmas we did our entire Christmas presents for our family from rewards), $100 worth of grocery vouchers, a pasta maker.
