Continuing on the unintentional food theme that I started last week, the second Friday in July is National French Fries Day

Do you like French Fries?
Do you like a specific type? eg: shoestring, crinkle, curly, thick etc
Where is your favourite place to buy them?
Have you ever made them at home?

Do you like French Fries?
Anything potato I love...my two favourites would be fries or mash

Do you like a specific type? eg: shoestring, crinkle, curly, thick etc
Has to be steak cut or similar but if there's a really fresh hot batch of shoestring fries I'm not against them either

Where is your favourite place to buy them?
Number one would be Wendy's - it's my favourite take out place

Have you ever made them at home?
Not from scratch but from frozen with varying levels of success until we bought a "chip pan" - finally have crispy rather than soggy fries.

Do you like French Fries?
I will eat a couple but don’t love them so never want a full order.

Arby’s curly fries are the best.

Where is your favourite place to buy them?
Arby’s

Have you ever made them at home?
Yes I buy them frozen & cook them in the air fryer and it does a great job.

Do you like French Fries?
Yes, love them! But I am on a low carb diet right now so not eating them too often.

Do you like a specific type? eg: shoestring, crinkle, curly, thick etc
all of the above

Where is your favourite place to buy them?
Probably MacDonalds

Have you ever made them at home?
Yes. I make them in the air fryer and they come out great. Recipe: slice up 2 russet potatoes into french fry shapes, dry with paper towels. Put in a bowl and toss with 1 tablespoon canola oil and 1 teaspoon Lowrys Seasoning Salt. Air fry at 400 degrees for 20 minutes shaking the basket every 5 minutes.

Do you like French Fries? I love them, especially with TONS of ketchup!

Do you like a specific type? eg: shoestring, crinkle, curly, thick etc I think I prefer crinkle cut best, but I also like to mix it up and have a variety. I just don't like them soggy... crispy is best!

Where is your favourite place to buy them? Hmm... Probably McDonald's?

Have you ever made them at home? Lots of times. I put them in the air fryer, spritz them with olive oil and sprinkle a little seasoned salt on top. Yummy!

I used to be a fan of potatoes in all forms, especially the fried forms. I think I just got tired of them, so I don't choose them much anymore. I don't dislike them. I don't think I ever had a favorite shape of french fries but if I had to pick one right now . . . can I have waffle cut sweet potato fries? If I buy fries nowadays, it's usually from the grocery store. I don't eat out much and when I do it's not usually places with fries on the menu. I particularly like the Alexia brand of bagged frozen fries. I have made fries myself many times over the years. I was never very impressed; restaurant fries were always better. Probably I just never managed to do it right, because there are other foods I think are better homemade.

Do you like French Fries? Yep, love 'em!

Do you like a specific type? eg: shoestring, crinkle, curly, thick etc? No specific type, they all work for me

Where is your favorite place to buy them? I very rarely eat out so no favorite place. However, growing up I was a fan of getting French fries at the county fair. Shoestring fries with some skin still on them then soak them in vinegar.

Have you ever made them at home? I used to have a small Fry Daddy deep fryer and would make fries in it. But I hated messing with the oil so stopped making them at home. Once I got an air fryer I started making them again. Which is much better for me these days since I can't have fried foods anymore!

When I was a senior in high school, I worked at the newly opened McDonald's in town. My dad loved their fries and that was the only fast food place where he would get fries. His reason was... they were "real" potatoes. Imagine his surprise when I told him they were frozen potatoes... but he still ate them!

I used to make fries in a Fry Daddy too ... what a mess though. I eventually tossed the Fry Daddy.

Originally McDonald's fries were made with real potatoes (at least locally) ... potatoes were peeled and cut in house, then cooked in beef tallow ... yummy!!! But there were issues with the potatoes rotting, so they switched to frozen fries. I worked at McDonald's in the late 70s and made a zillion baskets of fries (at that point they were frozen ones).

I love fries ... except for waffle and curly fries for some reason. I buy frozen fries and cook them on a perforated pan similar to Jennifer's. My fav fries are from McDonald's ... esp. when they are hot from the fryer and salted "just right."

The store I worked at opened in 1973. I started working there in late 1973/early 1974. I was 18 and could work past 11 to close the store. They had frozen fries from the start. Fun fact. I worked with a girl that went on to become a manager at the store and in the franchise. She met her husband who was a manager at another store. They went on to buy the store I worked at as well as some others. Ten years ago, the store I worked at was torn down and a new, more modern one built on the lot next door where a different restaurant had been torn down. The lot where the original store was is now the parking lot. And, the owners have retired and their children run their "empire" of McDonald's restaurants. I believe they own at least 5 stores in the surrounding area.

Do you like French Fries? of course! they are tasty! I love most potatoes
Do you like a specific type? eg: shoestring, crinkle, curly, thick etc.. I like Waffle and Curly but I like them all
Where is your favourite place to buy them? mmm like fast food? Mc Donlads.. or Culvers but if I am going to make them probably any grocery store
Have you ever made them at home? I haven't ... I have made homemade hashbrowns though and like fried potatoes (American Fries).. but my man, Abdo, made me homemade really amazing french fries from scratch like 5 times on my trip to Morocco and I was so amazed how good they were! and how he could cut the potatoes so well to make fries by hand! without any tools

Do you like French Fries?
I love them!!

Where is your favourite place to buy them?

My xDH started working at McDonald's as a teen and worked his way up the chain ... asst. store manager, store manager, general manager (3 stores, I think), then supervisor. He was the one who told me about the potatoes ... I think he might have even had to peel them.

He made a great salary, had great benefits and a company car as a supervisors, but he had to be available pretty much 24/7/365 and worked long hours 6-7 days a week.

One of my classmates also worked at McDonald's. He went on to be a manager and might have even been a supervisor over several of the stores that the owners I talked about owned. He retired comfortably several years ago. I think he told me that he had over 45 years with McDonald's.

Do you like French Fries? Love them!

Do you like a specific type? eg: shoestring, crinkle, curly, thick etc My favourite type are thick and hand-cut (aka "chip wagon" fries), with loads of salt & vinegar

Where is your favourite place to buy them? Wes' Chips in Arnprior, Ontario. But Ottawa also has some great chip wagons

Have you ever made them at home? Never. I don't have an air fryer, and there's no way I want to deal with all of that oil (the mess, the grease, the fire hazard!). Also, I guess I don't really want to make them at home? I want them to be a special treat, not something I can easily whip up in my own kitchen...
