My eyes are blue. My husband's are brown and we have 2 blue eyed kids and 1 with his brown eyes.
I got my first glasses, for reading, at the very end of 2021 (age 50). I only wore them for reading paper books for about the first year. I probably would have used them for ebooks too, had I been reading them, but I was so pleased to finally stop having eye fatigue with paper books that I've been on a paper book exclusive trend that still hasn't ended.
Then, I started wearing my glasses also for playing phone games or reading Facebook on my phone for longer than 15 minutes. In recent months, I've started using them sometimes for reading/writing on my computer.
Am I needing them more and more because my eyes continue to worsen regardless of glasses use, or are my eyes getting used to the glasses so their decline is kind of the fault of wearing glasses? My eyesight definitely varies depending on the time of day, how long I use my glasses, etc. I can read decently well without my glasses still. The glasses just make everything sharp and my eyes don't get tired.
I haven't tried contacts but based on the difficulty I've had with eye drops and how freaked out my eyes act if only speck of dust blows into them, I'm guessing contacts would be a very difficult option for me. Maybe impossible. My mom tried contacts and said she simply could not tolerate them. She wore glasses most of her life (starting at age 12, all the way to the end). Also, I might need bifocals someday because my distance vision could also be weakening. It's never an issue -- I just need to be closer to like freeway signs than I used to have to be for them to be sharp -- but it's something I've noticed. And can we do bifocals with contacts? I'm probably going to get around to visiting the eye doctor again by the end of this year.
I don't wear any kind of makeup.
