I kinda liked the Selection books and Matched but didnt exactly love twilight so not sure i'm a huge help but i can suggest a few for you to look in to as possibilities?
Same re: John Green- The Fault in Our Stars guy - i didn't exactly love the other books of his i read but his brother's one was cool (it might be in the comedy vein - let me find the link
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24233708-an-absolutely-remarkable-thing - it's 343 pages ...
Maybe Eleanor & Park
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15745753-eleanor-park - i feel like that should be on everyone's YA must-read list
If I Stay and Stargirl's are both apparently too short but there's apparently a 2nd Stargirl book as well? (they've also been made into movies, Stargirl's on the Disney channel depending on whether you want more 'young' or more 'adult'

Before I Fall is also in the 'good YA movie now' category but way longer and it depends on whther crying at some point in the book is ok to you as a reader... or maybe it's just me - i cried in the other two i think as well....

Happy Head is the first book i'd recommend for this whole question that springs to mind (and i didn't cry!) because i just read it over xmas but it's a first book only (so far) but is a bit Hunger Games crossed with Matched - its also LGBTQ if that is an issue - i audio'd it, i think it was 8hrs but it says it's 383pgs

Oh i did love the Elemental books (better than Twilight to me and better than the I am Number Four books but same kinda thing YA paranormal really (and the girl is Becca but pretty close to Bella!) but wow it was 409 pages - i guess as an e-book i never realised how thick they were - but if she's read the tricep workout twilight books...

And about the same time I quite liked the Delirium books & The Uglies (sorry i guess most of the YA i've read are series - Delirium is a bit more like Matched, Uglies has a similar premise i guess but more positive physical self-acceptance messages on top of that)

This has 220 pages and i gave it 4.5 stars - In Real Life -standalone, i can't remember the end though but i usually don't rate cliffhangers or annoying endings so well

This i gave 5 stars but i'm a science geek so it was YA love story mixed with science done really well- 272pgs also standalone

And just in case anyone really liked Hunger Games and The Selection, i really liked The Red Queen
