Do you keep zip files?

I have acquired many a zip file over the past while and I am wondering, is there any value in keeping them? I already have a backup with Backblaze should anything happen with my computer so I am questioning the value of them. Previously I didn't save them so I'm not sure what changed - to be fair I probably got lazy and didn't bother to delete them!

I used to but it seemed pointless when I started backing up online. My folders are back up like I like them to be and zips are not.

Yes, and I have had the need to use them again. They get stored on 2 EHD's so they don't take up the space on my computer.

I didn't always keep them and I have found in the last few years that I wished I had. I had done a layout in 2008 and in 2019 found photos that went with that layout so wanted to use the same kit. Didn't have it and didn't have the zip.

Nope - I delete them as soon as I unzip.

I keep template zipfiles because on more than one occasion I have overwritten the template file with my layout-in-progress. So having the zipfile, I can restore the blank template file easily.

Yep, I've done the same with templates in the past.

One time I was trying my hand at recoloring something, probably an element of some kind before using it on the layout. Not thinking I actually saved it... with the original file name. Having the zip file was a good thing since I could get the original back (my version was not good at all!) That experience is one reason I don't try to recolor stuff very often.

I don't keep zips of digital kits, I delete them once unzipped. I see no point in keeping them, since they can be corrupted without me knowing it. But I do keep duplicate backups, on different EHDs, of my most important digital stuff.

I have done this too many times to count! But still, I don't keep zip files. Delete as soon as I unzip.

I've figured out how not to do that! As soon as I unzip, I organize the kit in the way that works for me (subfolders for papers, alpha, word arts, etc) and delete the extras (duplicate tou's, shortcuts, piracy warnings...).
Then I copy the files in a folder named "For EHD", and in the scrapping folder on my pc. I only use the files in the scrapping folder and delete them as soon as I use the kit. I keep the layered files of my pages.
Keeping the zip files, especially for templates, is a waste of space for me, especially if it's a zip with all formats. I keep only the tiffs, because of the thumbnails and smaller size. I actually use a saving action on all new tiff/psd files, to make sure they are saved properly.

I don't even see them because the Mac automatically unzips and deletes the zip files. I think that could function could be changed in settings, but I like it. Zip files would just be clutter and and additional unnecessary task.

Zips get deleted. I have a backup with Backblaze and if I save over anything, I can usually always retrieve from there.
