Laundry | Pad Patter 3.19

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent? I have been a Tide girl my entire life. I like the original scent the most.

Do you use liquid, pods, or powder? I used to use the liquid, then switched to Pods. Now I use powder and my clothes seem much more clean.

Do you ever make your own? Never even gave it a thought.

Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls? I despise the smell of liquid fabric softener like Downy, so I do not use any kind of softener in the washer. We use Bounce sheets in the dryer - again - original scent if I can find it, if not the Outdoor Fresh one.

Do you use any of the scent boosters? Nope.

I use Soap Nuts for my laundry. Recently I noticed that the school shirts picked up a bit of a pink tint, so my whites are now done with Washing Soda instead.

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent? I like Tide, Ajax and All. I'm not picky.
Do you use liquid, pods, or powder? Most of the time Liquid.... if pods are cheaper, I'll grab those.
Do you ever make your own? No.
Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls? Dryer Sheet. It kinda keeps the static away.
Do you use any of the scent boosters? We do, on occasion, and only a smidge when we use it. I just love that smell - Unstoppables Fresh (Blue). I noticed that they didn't all get "washed away" after a load, so I also make sure to run a cleaning cycle on my washer every couple months.

Febreeze also has an Unstoppable Fresh scent... and they have a car freshener tab that is nice too! :)

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent? I am completely brand loyal to Tide, and use the Tide Free and Clear Pods

Do you use liquid, pods, or powder? Pods, and I have some Tide Powder that I use for mopping (1 tsp in a mop bucket with 3 gallons of hot water)

Do you ever make your own? I have made my own powder laundry soap in the past, with washing powder, oxyclean and some kind of bar laundry soap (Nels Fetha?) I didn't feel like the homemade soap rinsed as clean as Tide did, and I felt like it left a residue so I stopped using it. Every so often I will strip my towels with some of those ingredients to get any residue off of them.

Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls? I use Dryer Sheets to help with static and pet fur as we have lots of that in our house, and I also use Wool Dryer balls to help with wrinkles. I use a dryer sheet two times before trashing it. I have never used fabric softener.

Do you use any of the scent boosters? I have used the fresh scent ones in the past but didn't like the way things smelled with them, so I don't use Scent Boosters anymore. I do use the scent booster pods for workout clothes- they get rid of that sweaty smell but don't add any artificial smells to the clothes.

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent?

Yes! Gain Original Scent. It smells like happiness.

Do you use liquid, pods, or powder?

Pods

Do you ever make your own?

No

Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls?

No on the fabric softener. I do use dryer sheets as well as dryer balls (the wool ones). The dryer balls do help with drying time.

Do you use any of the scent boosters?

No. What I use has enough scent!

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent? If not homemade, I'll usually get Molly's Suds, Grab Green, Biokleen or soap nuts.
Do you use liquid, pods, or powder? All the above!
Do you ever make your own? I have made my own powder laundry detergent using things like Borax, Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda, and Dr. Bronner's soap.
Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls? If not using homemade, I use dryer balls.
Do you use any of the scent boosters? I sometimes use a homemade scent booster when needed.

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent?
I usually go with whatever on sale between Kirkland brand or ALL free & clear.

Do you use liquid, pods, or powder?
Liquid. My skin so sensitive & reactive to anything but liquid (and we use the bare minimum too- not even to the 1st fill line usually)

Do you ever make your own?
I've contemplated just so I know exact ingredients but I haven't gotten into yet.

Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls?
I'm allergic to dryer sheets so just dryer wool balls & I put a bit of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil on them.

Do you use any of the scent boosters?
Nope... again... allergic to everything. :/
I totally get the allergic thing. My BFF is the same. I even have to watch how much smelly stuff I wear because it can cause her to have a reaction. I have heard of using the essential oils on the wool balls, but never tried them.

I use tide pods now cause they are easy and save me carrying a jug around with my bad hand... also i find I use less soap .

When my kids were little I did make my own laundry soap cause I cloth diapered .. it was basically baking soda .white vinegar and botax.. it worked great and clothes always were clean and smelled good.. lemon juice got out tough stains ...

I tried those smelly balls thingys but they made my skin break out in hives. So I stopped using them although I loved the smell. I do use dryer sheets once in awhile.. but I have sensitive skin.. .. vinger makes my clothes soft when I need it..extra soft
I have yet to try vinegar in the wash, but I hear great things. Maybe I need to do that!

I am allergic to like, everything, for your skin. Can't wear makeup, perfumes, sunscreen, and I cannot, under any circumstances, change my laundry detergent. If I did I would likely break out into a head to toe rash. I even take my own sheets to hotels ...

That said - I use Kirkland Free & Clear liquid detergent (no fragrance). If they ever change it I'm in trouble lol
Bless your heart! I hope, for your sake, they never ever change it!!

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent? Nope. I use whatever is on sale for the best price per load. Which has been the Ecos Hypoallergenic Liquid Laundry from Sam's Club.

Do you use liquid, pods, or powder? Liquid. I used to use the sheets, but they became expensive and hard to find. I've used powder, but I hate it in the HE machine. It doesn't always rinse all the way clean. Sometimes, a bit gets stuck on clothes, and I have to rewash them. I've used pods, but I find them too expensive. Liquid only calls for an ounce, so I have a shot glass to measure it.

Do you ever make your own? I have. It lasted forever. FOREVER! It was annoying, and hard to find the soap, so I haven't tried it again. Plus, since it's natural, it clumps up.

Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls? No fabric softener, or dryer balls. I've tried dryer balls, but didn't have a lot of luck with them. I avoid fabric softener because it's bad for athletic style clothes. Dryer sheets - we switched to Bounce pet hair and lint guard. I've been shocked at how much pet hair they help collect. My kid loves the cat, who sheds, and he used to look almost furry on his clothes. Those pet hair sheets have helped immensely with pet hair. Especially on felt type items like blankets. It's the one thing that's not great for clothes and laundry that I keep because it's so helpful for pet hair.

Do you use any of the scent boosters? Nope. I used to. I loved them! I went back and forth between Gain and Downy based on sales. But then. Someone burst my bubble by telling me that scent boosters are just as bad for your clothes as the fabric softeners. And that they also leave a residue in your washer that can lead to clogs eventually, or at least, make it less functional. They are basically wax. So, I let them go.

Bonus: I also use a clothes line! If you are looking for one, Europe sells the best ones.
Ok, so I think I really need those pet hair sheets!! Chance always looks like he's just been rolling in the hair because he's always cuddled up with the pets.
I've heard that about the scent boosters as well :/
I went for 2 years without a working dryer at all and hung all of my clothes on a line. Well, my dryer worked but didn't heat, so I'd line dry them and then just throw them in there to soften them a bit on air fluff. I just recently got a working dryer again, so I'm currently embracing it :giggle

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent? Gain Original Scent
Do you use liquid, pods, or powder? Usually pods unless they're out, then I'll use powder.
Do you ever make your own? Nope.
Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls? No softer, yes sheets, sometimes dryer balls.
Do you use any of the scent boosters? Nope.
I love Gain so much...just the original, though :)

Yes, Gain original makes me happy :)
I'm thinking that I need to try the dryer balls.

Does it take you much time to make your own?
How do you make the homemade scent booster?

Ok, so I think I really need those pet hair sheets!!

I use these ones. I buy them at Sam's Club. I cut the first box of sheets in half, and they did alright. But, we got another dog (2 dogs, 1 cat), so now I just throw the whole sheet in. There was some difference right away, and as I keep using them, I notice less and less hair stuck on our clothes. The dryer lint spot is always full of hair though!

Does it take you much time to make your own?
How do you make the homemade scent booster?
No, it doesn't take much time at all! We have to be so careful with household and beauty products because my son will have a reaction to so many things. We use a variety of essential oils for scent boosters and mix it with a coarse salt like epsom or kosher salt and you can even mix in some baking soda too. It really is super easy! I store my stuff in random glass jars!

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent? I use skip, according to the advertisers its what most appliance repairers recommend. I like the smell of it and the way it really cleans well, removing dirt and stains easily.
Do you use liquid, pods, or powder? I choose the powder version.
Do you ever make your own? Nope
Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls? Softener always, we have dryer balls, but mostly hang the washing on the line, only tumble dryer when we have to. The clothes this side of the pond don't like the tumble dryer and will often change shape.
Do you use any of the scent boosters? Nope, am I missing out?

My favorite too is Gain original scent, liquid detergent and dryer sheets. I feel like it's my luxury item at the grocery store, but I just love the smell. Also, it really does last longer for us because it takes so much less liquid than when I buy the cheapo stuff. I do use some wool dryer balls that my MIL gave me one year. I dunno if they do anything, but I have them, so I use them. Ha ha!

I have tried making my own laundry detergent a couple different times. I did a powdered version once and a liquid version another time. The liquid version smelled WEIRD and I didn't end up using all of that. The powdered version worked fine, but it didn't smell as good and I don't feel like I saved any money after buying all of the ingredients, plus I had to shred bards of soap by hand and it took a while. In the end I just go back to buying Gain. :giggle

I never use dryer sheets ... one b/c they make me and my family break out (sensitive skin) and two my last dryer's manual said not to use them b/c they would coat the electronic moisture sensor and prevent it from working correctly. I assume they would do the same thing to my current dryer (2.5 years old).

Do you have a favorite laundry detergent? - We just purchase our supermarkets own brand laundry detergent, Tesco Bio Laundry Liquid
Do you use liquid, pods, or powder? - Always liquid, I find that powder clogs up my machine
Do you ever make your own? - Never tried
Fabric softener? Dryer sheets? Dryer balls? - No fabric softener or dryer sheets, I have used dryer balls in the past.
Do you use any of the scent boosters? - Never purchased or used them
