Hello from the Lake of the Ozarks!

I was not sure we’d have cell phone coverage out here. But lookie there…2 bars.

Don and I were married in a leap year, on 29 Feb. This weekend we celebrate 7 years of marriage. We typically don’t do anything super special - we are low key. But this year I thought it would be a nice excuse to get away for the weekend. So, we celebrate our anniversary at cabins on the lake.

I’d don’t mind the colder weather. And it’s really quiet here off season.

So, I thought today would be a nice day to talk about anniversaries. Have you done anything special in celebration of an anniversary? Share here and relive those special memories!

Happy Anniversary! We just had our 26th anniversary on Feb 22nd. One thing that we do every year is give each other clearance Valentines Day chocolates lol! Having the anniversary the week after Valentines Day this always works out.

Your cabin looks dreamy!

We used to go for dinner but it was always low key, nothing fancy, just a good meal out together and a drink or two. Then covid kept us home and we got used to celebrating at home quietly. Our past anniversary we stayed in and ordered dinner and hung out together. Not sure where we might go this year, we've started traveling more so maybe a wkend away, we'll see. It's not until the fall so we have lots of time to figure it out.

Love your anniversary photo!

Happy anniversary Lisa! Love that mug photo. :)

We most often celebrate our anniversary by staying in because it’s in December so everywhere is busy (and we like staying home). One year we went to a Star Wars movie premiere which was fun.

Happy Anniversary!

We cruised around the Mediterranean for our 20th.
We had a vow renewal for our 25th with 50 guests, redid the photos (it rained on our wedding day and we had no plan B in those days) and actually ate the cake we had made. First cake was kept until the baby's birth and it was rotten by then.
This year will be our 35th, and we have planned another cruise around Europe, including seeing the tulips in Amsterdam.
The other anniversaries we have done outings, like a helicopter flip and a visit to Robben Island. And sometimes it's a simply dinner at home.

We do a lot of road trips or dinners or nights in with movies and me cooking a fancy meal favorite of ours and making something chocolate and oooy gooy to go along with it.. we are pretty low key and simple people on a budget.

Happy Anniversary! Those mugs are super fun and that cabin looks amazing! Our anniversary is in August and usually we've had a busy summer of travel softball for our daughter- so most of the time we celebrate by a nice dinner out & then relax at home or at the inlaws lake house.

I want to do a Mediterranean cruise!

We usually take a weekend away. Usually somewhere within a few hours of driving. We like trying different B&Bs. Although I've been intrigued by some of the Glamping ads I've seen. Has anyone ever gone glamping? We like to sort of stay in quite places but with some things to go and do...hiking, sightseeing, etc.

No anniversaries here but it did make me think....I've known my best friend for 25 years next year so we probably should do something to celebrate

@littlekiwi Definitely celebrate friend anniversaries! My friend and I celebrate how long we've been enjoying weekly walks together (which are sometimes faraway adventures, not always local). It has been 12 years now, as of last month!

My husband and I are low key about celebrations. Especially since we've had kids. We went away just the two of us for the first time (since we've had kids) just last summer for our 26th anniversary. We stayed in a 7th floor hotel room with a great balcony overlooking Virginia Beach and got up to watch the sunrise. My first time seeing the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean, despite living here for 22 years (after all, we live 2.5 hours drive from the ocean).

We will have our 26th in May. We usually go out to eat somewhere nice, but for our 10th we had my parents watch the kids and we went to a hotel for a couple of nights near my parents' home.

We celebrated our 50th in 2019 with a cruise to Alaska and celebrations with friends and family when we returned. We treated a group of friends and relatives to a trip on the Snoqualmie Falls railway and dinner at the Salish Lodge at the Falls. The following day, our daughters hosted a wonderful anniversary dinner. We wrapped up the festivities by treating the group to a boat trip to Blake Island and a Native American performance and salmon dinner at the Tillicum Village. When we got back to Seattle we took rides on the Great Wheel and Wings Over Seattle. We had to rest up a week to recover!!
Normally, our anniversaries are just the two of us, celebrating with a nice dinner. We were so lucky that the 50th anniversary occurred 6 months before the Pandemic.

Happy Anniversary, Lisa!! Hope you have an amazing time!
We don't typically do anything for our anniversary, probably because it's at an odd time in September and I'm usually in the thick of back to school.

We were supposed to fly from Australia to Vancouver on the day of our 50th anniversary so we would have celebrated twice as we would get there before we left home (crossing the date line) and then we were cruising back home. Covid cancelled all those plans. So we ended up having 2 nights in a hotel in Brisbane - not quite the celebrations we planned. 2 years later we did get to fly to Vancouver and cruise home.

We always do something to mark the day and make sure we celebrate it, but it's never usually something grand and spectacular. He feeds me tacos, and I'm a happy wife! ;)

Happy anniversary!

We don't typically do much, maybe supper or a movie. This year one of our favourite bands (Nickelback) is doing a concert, on our anniversary, AND we managed to get tickets. So we are going to the big city for that - we've farmed the kids out for the night lol
