Today is National App Day!

According to my phone, my most used apps are Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and Walmart :giggle
But, right now my favorite is Gift List. I used it last year and this year to track what I've purchased for Christmas and for whom. It's password protected, so you can't just pick up my phone and see it. It's been super helpful for keeping me sane lol.
I also love my One Second Everyday app.

Do you have a favorite right now or one that you think more people should know about?

You mean besides Candy Crush & Wordfeud? :giggle

I'd say my best app is Calm. It costs a bit, but it's so worth it! The meditations keep me sane & the sleep stories and soundscapes help me go to sleep.

Our Groceries is a great app that helps me plan my shopping with different shopping lists for different stores.

Also have a couple of Swedish apps for checking food, one for what's best for the environment and one to check if it's vegetarian.

Now I'm hoping someone in this thread will have a tip for a good app to make chores/to do lists/trackers stuff.

I'm not someone that uses a lot of apps but I do have a couple. Simply Auto tracks fuel mileage on my vehicle. On my 3rd vehicle with it (beats using a small notebook which I had used from getting my first car in 1978 until 2011 when I got this app). During the summer I use the Strava app to track my walks for distance and time.

Wal-Mart has ticked me off. I can no longer scan my receipts post purchase. I always pay cash so their "auto" connection of receipts doesn't work for me anymore. Worked 2 weeks ago. Stopped working last week. Can't even add the receipt online either. I only used it so I had a history of my purchases.

Now apps on my tablet... games, Ring (on my phone just in case) and a weather app from a local TV station in case power goes out. Comes in useful during tornado warnings. And, my iRobot app.

I've never checked to see what apps my phone has judged I use the most, but I was curious so I searched my settings and found some stats. It's not surprising in the slightest. According to my phone, I use my phone the most for Day One, my journal. A close second is Overcast, my podcast app. And next is Facebook, which I read during my lunch break and other downtimes. Next is YouTubeMusic, Word Wow Around The World (my longtime favorite game), the actual phone (that's a surprise), Goals-Fitness (my walk tracker which builds maps), Messages, Camera, Solitaire, Gmail, Safari, Wordscapes (a fun crossword game), Paprika, Photos, Reminders, Weather, Scramble (my third favorite word game) . . . some miscellaneous stuff I don't use much . . . although I'm surprised Planet Fitness is way down here, because I open it every morning to check in at the gym. I guess that doesn't amount to much.

My favorite app find recently is Paprika, https://paprikaapp.com/ a recipe manager. I learned about it in a very timely way, the week of Thanksgiving, and I used it to plan and prepare my feast. I love how incredibly easy it is to download recipes into it and the way it overrides my screen awake setting and keeps the screen on the whole time I'm cooking.

My favorite app and one I would recommend to everyone who has any interest in recording anything about their life is my most used app, Day One. https://dayoneapp.com/

I prefer Overcast over the Apple podcast app because it just works better. I don't remember the specifics because I switched to it long ago in 2017 when I first started getting into podcasts but was frustrated with the Apple podcast app. I joined a podcast fan group on Facebook and many of them recommended Overcast, so I got that. It's free and it functions perfectly for me.

I'm happy with my walk tracker, Goals-Fitness. It's about the third or fourth one I've tried. Map My Walk worked well for a long time and I liked it, but then I started having trouble with it. I like the way Goals-Fitness tracks progress of a variety of stats, like distance, times I reached my goal, duration, and pace over weeks and months.
Now that I'm going to the gym, however, I use it less. I've tried to find an easy way to track my gym workouts but haven't found a great automated way yet. I'm just using my Day One journal and writing down what I do each day at the gym. But that doesn't let me easily compare or track my progress. Does anyone else have an exercise tracker for gym workouts?

I'm surprised Reminders wasn't higher on my list. I have several reminder notifications pop up every day! I guess if it's just tracking the time I have the app open, then it wouldn't be that much, because I only have it open for a minute to type a reminder (and sometimes I don't even open it, instead telling Siri to set a reminder). But I'd say Reminders is an app I use quite a lot!

My grocery store, Wegmans, has a pretty good app too, but I've never gotten into the habit of using it. I like how easy it is to "clip" coupons. Just tap on them and then make sure to input my phone number at checkout so the discounts are magically applied. :)

I have a little experience with Calm. It was a perk available to me when I was with my previous health insurance provider. One of my kids' therapists recommended it too. I recall it did have some nice soothing things.

The Apple Reminders app is awesome for to do lists, but I realize that doesn't help if you don't have an Apple phone. I believe I've heard of something similar you can download for android phones, but I don't recall the name. Good luck in your search!

My favorite app is Google calendar because it helps me remember what I’m supposed to be doing.

I regularly use several apps, more than I thought to be honest.

Facebook & Messenger, Gmail, Instagram, Pinterest, Safari, Notes, Calendar

NZ COVID Tracer (just in case….)

Go to Meetings (for obvious reasons, ummm @gonewiththewind @bestcee), Zoom, Microsoft Teams (the last two I don’t use a tonne of but if my computer and especially my previous laptop was playing up for virtual job interviews I’d use the apps on my phone instead)

Monash FODMAP Diet App (medically reviewed/scientific app for Irritable Bowel Syndrome - super important for figuring out what may have caused a symptom flare up, it’s usually very obvious but sometimes I need to check the research/science)

Seek (a job searching app), Trade Me Jobs

Trade Me (similar to probably EBay)

Trade Me Property, realestate.co.nz

AT Mobile (public transport app), AT Local (public transport ride sharing), Google Maps

YouTube, Spotify, TVNZ on Demand, Three Now, Neon NZ, Sky Go (all various media/streaming apps)

Solitaire - got to have some fun once in a while!

Whew, that’s a lot!

My Phone tells me that I use the Kindle app the most, lol! Then a combo if FB, 2 games, Safari and Messages.

I use:
Pocket Casts- my podcatcher app- I listen to podcasts all day every day, in between appointments and calls.
Our Groceries- my husband and I use this to add things to our grocery list, we can both access the lists we make
Messenges- the Samsung texting app
Samsung Health- where I track my weight, steps, water consumption and food eaten each day. I started tracking my food on November 30th and have lost 5.8 pounds since then.

Egg Inc- a game where I "raise chickens"
Kindle- I love to read
Audible- I listen to books often
YouTube- we have YouTube TV to watch college football games and I also use it to watch lots of other stuff
Chrome- to check in here at the Lilypad, as well as TwoPeasRefuges, the site that took over after TwoPeasInABucket closed.

I'm not someone that uses a lot of apps but I do have a couple. Simply Auto tracks fuel mileage on my vehicle.
My parents used to have a little notebook in each car's glove compartment to write down the car expenses. It drove me nuts as a teen to have to pencil in the mileage, price per gallon of gas, number of gallons and the total cost. As an adult I realized they deducted the gas tax on their tax returns.

I've never bothered b/c I take the standard deduction (no mortgage). But I do keep all of my car's service receipts ... inspections, emissions, car parts and repairs in my glove box.

I'm guessing my most used apps on my phone are Messages and Apple maps.

make chores/to do lists/trackers stuff.
I have a few apps because I like them separate. (I'm on Android.) And depending on what it is, I like it specialized.

Chores: Motivated Moms - not just for moms. It's a housecleaning app. You can also print it off if you prefer paper, which in some months I do, so I appreciate that a lot. I can assign chores to specific family members, and change and edit chores. But it comes pre-loaded so it includes things I don't always think about - like changing sink towels, checking soap containers, etc. Some show up monthly, some weekly, some bi-weekly, and I can change all of it to fit my house needs.
ToDo List: I prefer paper, but when I'm making digital lists I use Google Keep. I like that I can color code them, make it a checklist, type on my computer or on my phone and it syncs both ways. I've used ToDoist, and while I like the app itself, I don't like the price for the features, so I only use the free one currently.
Trackers: I use HabitHub for tracking habits. I paid for the full version (It was pretty cheap I believe). I keep things like meeting my steps, and creating and such in it. Nothing big, just little habits I'm working on.

I started doing it because at one time my parents did it. Might be because of the gas shortage in the 70's and the rising prices of gas! I also don't take a mileage deduction and I do keep my receipts... just in a file folder not the car!

I used one of the small notebooks about 3 x 5 and only recorded the date, mileage and gallons. Every month I would figure the mpg. I could scan my receipts and add to the app but I don't.

I guess I should add that I do use the texting on my phone the most but honestly I don't consider it an app. It is there whether I use it or not. I think of apps as something that I specifically seek out to add to my phone.

My most used apps:

PlanToEat - meal planning, grocery shopping, recipe holding, making sure we eat.
MotivatedMoms - Chore/household cleaning app (mentioned above)
PocketCasts - podcasts. I listen to a lot.
HabitHub - mentioned above, but it's really simple and I like that about it.
PuzzlePage - the free version is okay. I did pay for the yearly pass so I can play all the puzzles. It has word search, crosswords, a tic-tac-toe puzzle, cross out, picture crosses, soduko and 'wordy' aka wordle knockoff. I enjoy puzzles, they relax me, and even the free version of this app is pretty decent.
Nutritionix Track - this is my food tracking app. I love it. It's made my nutritionists, and it just works. There is a ton of food in it, and some food places like Subway or Chipotle use it on their websites. So I can play with my options, and then send my choices to the app. It's web and phone, so I can use both options for input which I like. People can't just add things to the database, so it's really accurate. And best of all - free. The premium isn't needed as a user, it's only for sharing with a coach or nutritionist. It's simple and easy and not complicated. If you scan something that's not in the database, the app asks for photos and you submit them. But in the meantime, there's also a blank input you can use if necessary. I've only had one thing so far not in the database and it was an Aldi advent calendar.
Rep E-edition - our local newspaper online.

Then I have the school apps, banking apps, grocery apps, food apps, vacuum app, doorbell app, Church app, authenticator apps, Family Link (kid phone controls). Ugh, so much that is 'necessary' but not constantly used. I do delete most food apps after I order, but ChickFilA has a permanent home on my phone :thumbsups.

Games: I switch around a lot. I've been playing Harry Potter Puzzles and Spells (match 3 game). It's good, but I needed a break.
My new favorite game: I Love Hue 2. It's super relaxing, and I love seeing the colors. You basically sort colors in a color swatch.
We are trying out Google Play Pass, so I also downloaded Professor Layton (love this series!), and Solitaire, and Red Herring (thinking game, but quick to play daily), Doors: Paradox, and Euchre.

I haven't added many apps to my phone. Some are added temporarily, like the United app I added b/c I was flying United last month, then deleted after I completed my trip. Or Jet Blue for my January trip. Now my iPad is a different story as I have multiple streaming apps on it.

My top ones are Libby and Safari. Facebook is at the top of my list too. I’m going to have to check out some of the games listed. It seems like I will play a game incessantly and then drop it on a dime.

I think I'm one of the few in the world that has never played Candy Crush. I may need to check into the Calm app, I could really use some of that right now!

I have several of the ones you mentioned, but I know that you will always have great recommendations! I have Paprika on my computer, but never thought about using it on my phone lol. I tried Day One for a little while and had trouble remembering to keep it updated. Maybe I should try it again! I don't have a recommendation for a gym workout tracker, but I would also love to know of a good one!!

i guess cafeland world kitchen is all i use on phone.
I have never heard of either of those. Maybe I should check them out!

My favorite app is Google calendar because it helps me remember what I’m supposed to be doing.
I so wish I could really get used to Google Calendar. It would help me out a lot lol

Maybe not exciting, but super cool you can control your thermostat. I do have several smart plugs/lights in my home that I can control from my phone, but I pretty much all of them on a schedule now.

I'm not sure I trust the Most Used Apps info cause it doesn't seem to count anything I use within Android Auto. Plus it'll think I'm using Pokemon Go for a huge space of time because I forgot to close it but I'm not actually using it.

I'd say my most important apps are Pocket Casts. I listen to several podcasts every day. Then Twitter, FB, TikTok Instagram and Audible. I also still play Pokemon Go.
