Thanks so much!! Yes, there's a story behind the feather - we live in Cherokee County on the very edge of The Cherokee Nation and I feel such a pull toward the Cherokee Tribe. I was told, from a young age, that we were part Cherokee, but I haven't been able to prove it.
I completed the first page of my envelope album - I'm probably going to do some "tip-out" pages because I didn't include very many envelopes in my album. I'll explain further, if I decide to do the "tip-outs". Here's a picture of my first page.
The pull is all the proof you need! Love the way the seams of the envelope show through and add extra interest to the artsy vibe!
I feel the same way about the pull. The envelops were stuck shut, so I just inked over them. I'm glad you like the effect.
I'm just assuming I either have a crappy printer (HP LaserJet CP1525n Color) or crappy paper (semithick cardstock). LOL
For what its worth, I've had some issues with color matching with my new printer. I find that if I keep paper as "plain" even when it is not, it prints truer to color. The printer comes with an app. Using the app I can print to the edges. But with the app there is an automatic color enhancement (that is not an enhancement at all). I have to remember to deselect that enhancement. Took me FOREVER to figure that out. Well, forever is an exaggeration....but printed like 5 things before I figured out to turn off color enhancement. Greys were printing as purple. Go figure.
@mywisecrafts How's your mini coming along? Did you get the pictures yet? @tanteva Sometimes stripes when printing indicates a misalignment of the print heads. There may be an alignment tool or feature in the control section?? Also, were you able to polk holes in your bags? There is a tool called an awl...that could do the trick also.
yep and had send back for some reprints as they were still too big. It's been a learning opportunity for sure
Here's the cover since I'm waiting on photos..... it's a work in progress... What I learned...... -a better placement strategy as my double sided tape could quite possibly hold a wall up -I should have scaled my hibiscus a little bigger, so now I need to add some extras to this cover that won't be too bulky but make me happy with balance. I do know I'll be adding a year label since this is going to be about our last hawaii trip -this album is 3.5 x x5 and I think wallet size is going to end up being my best option for photos. I have a couple of 5x7 that I'm hoping I can make the vision happen. ***Some fun tidbits**** -I used cricut design space to design my lettering -hibiscus & leaves are a cut file from silhouette design store that I imported into cricut design space and cut on white paper - patterned paper for HI is from NBK's latest AC -those little ticket pieces are from JJ latest ST that I used cricut design space to print then cut -for my flower and leaves coloring, I used Paula's Rawr funky abstract design paper to pull my colors from and used my alternes alcohol markers to color them and do gradient blending -patterned HI I used the 3d pop stickies to add some depth -used me cricut joy to cut the flower, leaves, lettering and cricut maker for the print to cut
I came across an older project I made quite a few years ago for my sister, it was all done with scrapbook papers and stickers etc. It is an accordian styled little journal into which I stuck a lot of photos of us all growing up together. The photo quality is totally crappy, sis took them with just a point and shoot camera, I keep vowing to take better pics whenever I go to visit her and then forget! lol! I created the booklet first and then glued the front and back pieces into the top and bottom of a cheap little box I picked up at the dollar store and then decorated the outer box. I made it over a weekend when I was away with work so I was all alone with my bag of packed scrapbooking stuff in a motel and had the best time! lol! No cooking, no housekeeping jobs, just scrapping! The sticker above the photo of me and my older sis is what gave me the idea to create the booklet for her, funny how one little thing can spark a whole project! lol! I had fun adding pockets and hidden panels as well. Marie was thrilled with it and it is still displayed behind glass in her cabinet so it's always a joy to see it whenever I go to visit. Anyways, I thought I would post it in case anyone else might like to do something similar.
@mywisecrafts That flower! @wombat146 Thank you for sharing! That is a fun idea! Mind is blown at how you could do all of that with just a travel bag of supplies!
ooooo love this!!!! I want to do an accordion one too. Pretty much I've decided to re-do and catch up on my albums but do them all as 5x8 size or smaller.
Hee, hee, hee...you all are making albums and I'm just making junk journals! Ha! @mywisecrafts I keep staring at that lush flower you made. Holy smokes! At first glance I though it was a pre-made/pre-purchased flower. And your alpha! Great choice in the Paula paper. I adore that look!
@wombat146 Ona, I really, really like your take on the accordion album. Using the small box as a cover is brilliant - great for storage and gift giving! I can see making these for a Christmas gift or birthday gift for someone.
