What are you good at?
What are you bad at?

Courtney's post about gardening and me not being a great gardener brought this to mind! I'm definitely not good at gardening, I have more of a brown thumb. Even trying to keep plants alive, I inadvertently give them a push to death. I even killed a Chia Pet.

I am really good at organizing. I'm good at reading, word games in any form, and board games. I am really good at telling dad jokes too. lol! I like to make people smile, and I'm a good listener too.

I'm also bad at trivia. Horrible at it. I'm not the best at planning and struggle with names/faces and at times a little forgetful. I am not a confrontational person, but I do try to be as up front and truthful as possible.

What about you?

Right now I feel like I'm really good and coming up with ideas, but REALLY bad at figuring out how to get them all done in time. (Graduation is insane). :dizzy

Aside from my scatterbrained graduation planning mind, I've realize I'm really good at being project manager for home projects. I create the vision, pick the colors and products, purchase the products and then tell my hubby what I need him to do, one step at a time. He gets too stressed out about all the details and planning stuff, but he's great at doing what I need him to do. So he's happy for me to do all the leg work and tell him what to do.

I am getting really bad at focusing on one task at a time. I have really been missing the portion of the pandemic where everything was canceled and I could actually just do what I needed to do and not have to plan stuff around an overly busy calendar.

Basically I'm bad at things I'm not interested in, and good at everything I like. Having ADHD makes me go with my interests and ignore the rest. (I never got a driving license, cuz cars are boring LOL)

I'm bad at organizing, structure and order. I'm bad at gardening and keeping my house tidy. I'm bad at every type of sport, especially if any kind of body coordination is involved.

I'm good at knitting, crochet, digi scrap, cooking, reading, binge watching, singing (not sure if I'm really good at it, but I do it a lot LOL).

Right now, I have this... and the distraction that comes along with life. lol! Between prom, 8th grade dance, a trip away for a weekend, my son's birthday, my mothers surprise birthday party and planning, 8th grade graduations, graduation parties, baby showers and the end of school... I'm done. done, done, done. lol!

I'd rather just read. or futz around on the internet. or play games, lol!

I would love to know how to knit! what are you reading? I just read The Vine Witch series (3 books), and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo! Both authors were good reads.

I am a horrible singer. Don't ever let me sing, hahahahah! I've never done karaoke since I'm that bad!

Right now I'm reading Appleby Farm by Cathy Bramley. I liked her book Ivy Lane, and now Appleby Farm got translated to Swedish too. I'm a bit lazy, I prefer to read in Swedish, even though I could read it in English. I read almost anything, but I'm not that found of Sci-Fi & horror.

I'm REALLY good at procrastinating. I'm good at organizing events ... came in handy when my kids and grandkids were scouts. I'm good at reading, binge-watching, and cross-stitch.

I'm a horrible singer, can't carry a tune to save my life.

That's how hubster and I work too! Not that he doesn't create on his own, he does; flutes, guitars, moccasins- - right now he is working on a long bow. But usually I am the visionary and he does a lot of the physical stuff. We collaborate on the Cherokee flutes because I am a better painter.
So... Good at??
  • I am a good cook! It took almost 20 years to realize cooking is an art form, once I did (thanks to Food Network) I began to love it!
  • I am good at weaving art. Not towels, cloths, but art pieces.
  • watercolor painting
  • organizing
  • seeing the potential of a thing, such as a house, or the core of a person.
  • I can "read" people well.
  • teaching
  • pioneering a project - seeing what needs to happen to achieve a goal.
Not so good?
  • Waiting! :circles I have been acquiring the fruit of patience over the past 10 years, but it is difficult because I am a self starter, a "getter done" type person. I'm learning to wait for others so that their gifting can be enjoyed. I'm learning to wait upon the Lord like Mary:angel instead of Martha.:eg9
  • pottery making. I LOVE:heartlub to get my hands in the clay. But the end result, well, maybe I should leave that to my pottery artist daughter in law!!:giggle
  • Avoiding boredom. I go through cycles where I just don't want to stay home and "create". I wanna go out and travel. Right now, that is where I'm at. :duh
  • Gardening. I absolutely STINK at it! I've been told to leave the garden alone! :banned

Good: Procrastination. But when I do get motivated, I see a project through to the end to the detriment of other things. There are things I used to be good at but have given up as I've gotten older. Counted cross stitch was one. I loved it and did a lot of it. A lot that were framed and are hanging in my house. I like to think that I'm good at digi scrapping.

Bad: Like Cheryl, I can't sing at all. I'm so bad I only mouth words when singing the anthem or happy birthday or something like that when in crowds. No one needs to hear my croaking. Not a great cook either but what I do cook is at least edible.

:think

:tu patience, organizing my stuff, being easygoing, stuff involving words (reading, writing, word games), optimism, flossing and brushing, eating plant-based

:td gardening, driving in snow, singing, planning a party, doing chores on a regular schedule, not crying when others cry or something moves me, refraining from potato chips if they are in my house

I'm good at photography (did it professionally for a while), wordy and language type things like reading and writing, word games, etc. I'm good at fixing stuff, genealogy research and I'm a very talented procrastinator like a several of us. :D

I'm not so good at making decisions -- I'm definitely an over-analyzer and second-guesser. Which also means I don't like planning things or making big purchases because I need to analyze everything from every angle to come up with the perfect plan or purchase before I can commit. I really work on being a "satisficer" instead but it's a challenge. I'm bad at remembering things both because I have always had a bad long term memory but also because I often don't pay attention when people tell me things. :D

What about you?

We have a lot in common. I love organizing, reading, and word games. I would rather play card games/word games than board games.

I'm also horrible at trivia. I hate trivia games. And same about being confrontational...but I have been known to speak my mind when it comes to things I'm passionate about.

I'm good at manual labor. LOL. I love physically working hard.
I'm good at keeping up with chores.
I'm good at sight reading piano music.

I'm horrible at singing...although I do it to annoy my kids. I'm good at annoying my kids. LOL...but also good at loving them & caring for them.
I'm bad at eating and driving at the same time. NONE of my family will let me eat and drive.

Good: Am a creative thinker, am good at research, am excellent at preparing job applications (you’d think so after doing them for 6+ years!), am flexible/adaptable, keen bargain hunter, am likely to say yes to things (I have got better at putting limits around that though so I’m not taken advantage of) & like soo many of us am an excellent procrastinator!

Not so great at: gardening….I’d probably kill everything!, saying no, trivia, reading fiction, cooking (though I’d say 90% of the reason why is I don’t need to at the moment while living at home)
