I'm already behind three as of now - Black or White monochrome (I have hunted high and low right through my stash for this one and can't find enough to make anything I like work), bobblehead (haven't even started and extractions are not my thing at all) and stitching (shouldn't be too bad....I just have to tag some more of my stitches in ACDSee first so I can see exactly what I have and have a few more options). I know I won't be able to get to day 24. 27 or 30 immediately either due to existing committments so I feel MOC completion is slipping away from me rapidly....I was trying so hard to only be one day behind the whole way
unless I pretty much ignore life and scrap like a mad woman just before the deadline I'm not sure I will. The days I am busy I am busy all day.
When I get behind I like to work backwards - even if I load them in order - OCD that way. The monochrome, mosaic and bobblehead took me longer than most. But I loved the challenges and the subsequent layouts.
I am 6 behind, as challenge 2 threw me and I haven't managed to do that one yet, so I haven't posted any after that haha I have a newborn and a 3 year old so I'm trying to finish but let's see!
I was behind quite a bit but got 5 done yesterday, now I am only 6 behind including today. Hoping to get a couple more finished this evening after dinner.
I still have 12 I haven't finished.. I was really hoping to get them all done, but I'm not sure I'm willing to lose sleep (literally) over it, so we'll see. I always have big plans to scrap all day on the weekends, but then my kids think they need me for things, or I need to buy groceries, or whatever, then it's Sunday night and I still haven't completed a single page.. *sigh*
Try just searching ACDSee or Windows for stitches. Designers usually label those really well, and that will save you the time. I caught up over the weekend. I was 8 behind. I've been filling in the free template from Cheryl as I go, so I could visually see which ones where missing. How I did it: I started with the ones I knew I could do pretty quickly because they are my scrapping style, or I had an idea to go with it. First, I looked at them for photo requirements. I knew I needed a bad photo, a photo I could bobblehead, my then and now photo (Day 2), something for a lot of flowers, and something for the large title. So, I knew myself, and I took a lot of bad photos, that were the only photos, of my son when he was born. So, I checked his birth year. Found one! Then, I remembered we were at Disney for the Flower and Garden festival. So, I scrolled through those photos for one that would work by itself. I picked a folder and looked for my 3 star photos to find ones that worked for the other challenges. I walked around the house, found a photo to do my then and now, and snapped some shots. Photos done! Next, I decided which to tackle. I like getting my momentum going, so, since I knew where the florals was going, I started there. Since my photos were picked out, it was easier to keep moving. I tried to be like Cheryl - just pick a kit and go. Sure, I might have a better one, but I want the pages done. I actually used a kitten kit (kitteh) for my grumpy old women page. The colors were what I wanted, so I went with it.
@bestcee, I think the problem is I'm kind of struggling in general scrapping now mainly cause I took a few days off when I couldn't get inspired at the end of last week and boom, its now Tuesday. I want to be super creative at least a bit so when I try and hate the stuff I give up. I've at least got an idea for todays challenge but won't be able to do that one til the very end (going to try and pre do the actual layout so I only need photos/journaling from the 31st). I've struggled hugely with the black/white one going around in circles as to what to do for it so its remained undone, I've started and struggled through the stitching one and not liked what I came up with - for some bizzarre reason I thought I'd start with finding the stitching and the stuff to attach rather than like a photo or kit....no wonder that ended up in the bin. Haven't even thought of the bobblehead one yet
yes behind by a few pages, 4 actually. I got a cold and just couldn't think creatively. lol I think I might be able to get a couple done per day enough to catch up this week. I'd love to complete on Jan 31. I need to get back to the books I'm trying to finish and don't necessarily want to post those photos online. lol
I've done Challenges 1-18, and 20 (last week's live session). I need to do 19 and then I can post 20. I'm another one who likes my layouts in order. LOL
I'm 7 behind, which is probably the closest to caught up I've been this MOC! I was going to sit it out this year, but about a week into it I changed my mind and got started. One of my strategies for catching up is to do 2-page layouts where each of the pages meets a different challenge's requirements. Since there are some decisions I only have to make once, like kit and papers, the 2-pager goes faster for me than doing two single page layouts. (Sometimes I keep each of the layouts exactly as-is when I post in the gallery, and sometimes I swap out the background paper of one to make them look more different.) Another strategy of mine is to make sure to do any that I know will be time consuming early on, since too many of those left at the end will derail me. The 7 I have left right now are ones that I think will be easier and faster for me: simple template, title bleeding off page, same but different, bad photo, combine 2 templates, stitched down stuff, and speech bubbles. Right now I'm still at the point where my goal is to make layouts I love for each challenge--if I don't like a challenge's LO as is, I save it for the gallery and then keep working on my copy until it's something I want in my albums. When we get closer to the end of MOC, I'll have a decision to make. If I'm not even close to finishing (let's say more than 7 layouts behind), I just won't get them all done. If I am close enough, I'll spend a couple of hours on the last day or two of MOC making 20-minute layouts that I don't love and won't print, but that will meet the minimum challenge requirements. (After MOC I'll go back and salvage some of them, and others will be done just for the challenge then deleted.) Can you do the layout for your books then swap out the photos for the gallery? I end up doing that for some MOC layouts because the theme of the challenge isn't one I'd print for my albums.
I thought the all black or all white challenge was going to be hard. But, in reality it came together pretty easy. I picked white because I knew it would be easier on my eyes to see elements when I put shadows on them. Versus black which would be hard with not much contrast. I searched my stash for items that I might find white versions of: button, flower, lace, doily, leaf / leav, stitch, branch, bead, sequin. I chose a few white papers. Pulled them all over. Picked a white paper. Deleted elements that weren’t really all white once I put them on the paper. I looked for a white frame and placed my elements accordingly. Then I picked a photos. No special theme. Found a white alpha and added a title. It is probably one of my favorite layouts of MOC 10. if a flower had a colored center, I placed an all white flower or button over the center.
I'm 9 behind but I'm always behind LOL. I work best under pressure. The one thing that helps me, is that I keep a list of ideas for each challenge. So, I may be 9 behind but there's only one that I don't know what I scrapping for that page. I just need to actually do it now!
I'm 7 layouts behind too. I'm away for work for the next couple of days, however I do have Thursday and Friday booked on leave so hoping to focus more then. I do work better under pressure though - I stop with the 'what if's' and just get stuck in.
Um, I skipped Day 2 until I could get the photo. Since I finally did it on Sunday, I updated my thread all the way to 21 in the next 3 minutes or so. Yep. Order for me!
Add me to the list of having to upload to the tracking thread in day order. My mind can't wrap itself around not doing. Hence having a table in OneNote that I record when it's gone on the challenge thread and then another column for when it's in my tracking thread.
