Does anyone use a tablet to do their scrapbooking? I use my phone but now I’m doing more and more digital stuff I’m thinking a tablet might be better. I don’t really like pulling my laptop out and I quite like the app that I use so a tablet seems like the best next step. So apple iPad or an android tablet? Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.
Don't know enough about app scrapping to really give any help but I hear you on the not wanting to pull out your laptop all the time - I know I'm guilty of that way too often
Yeah I just find it so easy to do it on my phone, I’ve just never managed to get my head around the programs on the laptop and I just know I wouldn’t do it as often.
I have an iPad, but haven't really explored scrapping on it much (even though I'd like to do that in the future). I'd be sure you purchase one with enough basics so they will run your program(s) without issue.
I don't think one system is better than the other; it is really what you are comfortable with using. It's hard to make a recommendation without more information about your expectations. If you are already scrapping on your phone, whatever app you are using now might not be available on a different device, you may have to repurchase it, or it may be so different that you can only edit on the device where you created it. I have an iPhone and an iPad, and I find it handy that they work out of the same photo and app libraries. I don't think I would be willing to accommodate the obstacles that would come with trying to use, for example, an Android phone with my iPad. It would be doable, and I could manage, but I like that I don't have to make any effort to use them together.
@sakura-panda that’s a really good point actually. I currently use an iPhone because it had the best camera at the time but I find it really hard to back up photos from apple because it doesn’t recognise different folders so I was thinking of getting an android next time so it might work best for me to have an android tablet for them to best communicate with each other.
I'd say do your research about the specific apps you're considering using on each platform. I'm an Android user and wouldn't switch, but since there are so many fewer devices that Apple apps have to be compatible with, iPhone/iPad apps tend to have more features. Even if the same app you use now is available for Android, it might have fewer features on Android, so make sure you look into the specifics rather than just checking if it's available. I can't be much help on the actual scrapping part--I'm a laptop scrapper. I bought a new tablet for school over the summer, and before I chose one I looked into scrapping on it to see whether that would influence my choice of iPad vs Samsung tablet. I found that none of the tablets were going to be able to replace my laptop and Photoshop enough for me to want to scrap on them, so I went with the Android tablet that was going to play nicely with my phone and that did everything I wanted it to for school. If you're already scrapping on your phone and are enjoying it, then you'll probably be able to find a tablet that will do at least as much as your phone can.
I know we have some app scrappers here. A few use affinity, I don't know if it's apple or Android or both. I'm not helpful.
Aha! Not the thread I wanted, but there was some discussion here: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/scrapping-with-photoshop-on-ipad.78698/ Perhaps that will help a little?
Hi! I use Pro create on my IPad. It’s double the work because you would need to create your shadows. However i love creating my own shadows so that’s not an issue for me. If you need help, feel free to message me.
Nicole of NBK-Design @NBK-Design uses an iPad. She has many videos on her Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/NBKDesignTutorials/search?query=ipad
My husband bought me a tablet a few years ago so I could scrap on it when I wasn't at home...and my scrapping program {GIMP} isn't compatible with it. LOL. I just use it to read now, but I would love a tablet to scrap on, especially from the baseball field! So, I'm no help, either, but I'm going to follow along on this for some input!
