MOC Day 12 | Mixed Media
Hello and welcome to Day 12, we are going to have some fun doing mixed media play! Some of you might be totally new to Mixed Media so here is a simple definition for you on what mixed media is.
mixed media
pl.n. (used with a sing. verb)
1. A technique involving the use of two or more artistic media, such as ink and pastel or painting and collage, that are combined in a single composition.
For example many Mixed Media Scrapbook Artists like to make their layouts more 'organic' by using different 'materials' on their layouts to create a more artsy layout or Journaling/photo less page. Materials like different Paints, inks, stamping, ink splatters, gesso, crayon, thread, torn papers, recycled mail.... the list could go on and on what you can use with your mixed media layout.
BUT for today's challenge we are concentrating on our background design being your whole design.
Here is my layout as an example
What Lisa said about her layout.
No 3D elements - check (gosh that took a lot of restraint
)
More than 5 mixed media items:
-6 different paints/paint splatters
-1 artsy bits numbers
-2 word arts
-2 doodles
And a layout from eyeore
lcpereyra has an example where she used the allowed Minimum amount of
embossing, she used a glitter style on her title. And this small amount is
fine with me.
To Recap your challenge:
1. Create a mixed media background with a plain white cardstock and 5 or more mixed media elements, Paints, ink, stampings, gesso, pencil or crayon. Embossing is also part of Mix Media but please only use a small amount of that technique on your layout.
2. Your page can contain ONE photo or be photo less
3. You cannot have ANY other types of elements on your page
4. You may add journaling if you wish
This is going to be a challenge I know for those that cannot imagine not putting any 3d elements on their page, but it is a challenge to push you outside of your comfort levels, and you might find you love creating your own backgrounds to then put your 3d elements on top of. If this really bothers you, Please then save your layout with the layers editable so you can go back after MOC 10 is completed to add what you wish to your layout. My hope is to push those outside of their comfort levels and experiment with something new. Have Fun!
Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:

BUT for today's challenge we are concentrating on our background design being your whole design.
Today's Challenge is to use mixed media ONLY to design your own background. You must start with a plain white cardstock and add a minimum of 5 paint strokes, paint or ink spatters, pencil or ink markings, crayon markings, stampings or gesso to create a mixed media background. Your page can be photoless OR have one photo. The challenge here is to create your own background not take one paint splatter from a designer and say that is your design.

Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:
- Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site).
- Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean.
- Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish.
Here is mine! I had fun playing with a Dublin street photo of mine!
