I never liked dolls when I was little. I always had stuffed animals. My favorite stuffed animal was a stuffed snoopy. I carried him everywhere and slept with him at night. I honestly am not sure where it is now. It may still be at my house or it could be in one of my boxes in the attic. I guess I need to find him now lol.

What was your favorite toy as a child? Do you still have it?

I really don't remember what any of my favorite toys were. However I do have one item I've had since I was a baby. This pink stuffed bunny. Around late elementary school I named her Rebeta, trying to make a name that sounded like "rabbit." :giggle It's kind of amazing that I still have it, considering I had about 50 other stuffed animals and many other toys and didn't keep any of the rest of them. Oh! I just had an idea what I should say was my favorite "toy." BOOKS. I was a huge reader growing up. I had my nose in a book every day! And I DO still have many of the books I collected as a teen, particularly my collection of Madeleine L'Engle books. Thanks for this question. I found this photo I didn't even remember I have, by searching my photo files for "Rebeta," and I'll be pasting this into my journal for a possible future scrapbook page. :love

Such a great photo and memory!

I have the rag doll my Daddy bought for me and brought to the hospital, though I don't think I have any photos with me with the doll.

I loved Barbies and dolls. I don't have any of my Barbies. They were played with so much and also kept in our playhouse with high summer temps and that rubber and plastic just didn't make it.

This was my favorite baby doll. I had her for years. I took her everywhere. We went to a family reunion and somewhere around here I have a photo of me with her and two of my first cousins right before one of the extended cousins pulled her head off. There was no fixing her. I was inconsolable. I never did like that cousin after that. LOL

I had a Baby Crissy doll and I loved her. I believe I got her when my other doll "died." I don't have her anymore.

Wish I had a photo of Chatter. I recall a picture taken one xmas eve, with me setting on bed with, that have memory of up on the roof top song, but think my sister took the picture from the folks pics, i was last to get my choose

I also had a doll, her neck broke and for years I tried to get her fixed, eventually I trashed her.
I still have some board games from my childhood and my Cindy doll, with furniture and clothes.

I had one of those monkeys as well! My photo is terrible though. I read that it was based off of a monkey in Howdy Doody.

I can still remember how heartbroken I was that my doll's head came clean off her body. Did your doll's neck break as a child or just as it aged? Do you have photos of your Cindy doll?

Aww, that's sad about the doll that died!

I had a Baby Crissy doll too! Or my sister did. I don't remember which of us it was given to, but I surely played with it a lot to remember it (because I have extremely few actual memories of childhood). However, I do remember my Mom encouraging/telling? me to sell it at a yard sale when I was in late elementary school. She said I could get another doll to replace it afterward. The replacement doll was a cheap thing, smaller, hard plastic, short hair instead of long lush Crissy Doll hair. I don't think I complained but I remember feeling so disappointed.

I remember pulling her hair in and out repeatedly, brushing it, and dressing her up. I don't know what became of her.

I think we remember these losses so acutely because they were (likely) our first experiences with loss. It still stings a bit, all these years later.

I honestly don't remember any one specific toy being my favorite. But Mom always said my favorite toy was the cardboard box that held my toys.

For many years, we had some of my old toys in the basement in a drawer in the dresser. Mom put them there in the 80's when my cousin would come to visit with her kids. The kids knew to look there for things to do. I have pictures of the daughter playing go fish with the fish shaped cards we had. My Barbie and Midge were displayed on a shelf for a lot of years. But when I cleaned out the basement and subsequently gutted it, I got rid of all of it. Stuffed animals had gotten wet sometime in all those years and smelled awful so they were pitched. I was able to salvage one that was given to me by a high school star athlete when I was in 6th or 7th grade. Some toys that were still in good shape were donated, but most were just pitched. Board games were upstairs and several years ago I offered 2 of my cousins any of them they wanted for their grandkids. What they didn't take was donated.

Oh my gosh! @weaselwatchr one of my favorite toys as a kid was a stuffed snoopy too! My Grandma gave it to me when I was born and I actually still have it! It's in my craft room because it still makes me happy. It's rather small and filled with little round beans, so it more like a bean bag toy.

My other favorite was a weeble wobble kingdom that I got for Christmas one year. I felt like the richest kid in the world that morning and loved playing with it for a long time!

Man, I loved, loved, LOVED dolls as a kid. I still have my Thumbelina and Ginny dolls, along with a china tea set, my baby doll bed and a few other things. I also loved my Tiny Tears doll, but she was made of rubber and eventually "rotted" for lack of a better wood and I finally tossed her out. I had Barbie, Ken, Francie, and Trudy dolls too, but have no clue what happened to them ... likely they went to my sisters.

Oh and TROLLS ... I had quite the collection along with a troll cave house ....

I have a couple of my Mom's childhood dolls too. When my dad offered up some of Mom's stuff a few years ago, my sisters insisted that I take the dolls, b/c I was the doll lover. I love dolls and toys ...

My grandma and grandpa got me a toy dog - a wire haired terrier that I named Ginger. I had Ginger until I was an adult. When I got married, I forgot to get Ginger and when I went to get him, my mom had given him away to some kid. I was so upset and wanted her to get him back! She wouldn't do it and said that she didn't think I wanted him anymore. DUH!!! But, I've forgotten all about that. Oh, yeah. :angry:rolleyes: I think she felt bad, but would never admit it. Several years ago, she got me a teddy bear which I still have. I love Teddy, too.

my mom had given him away

My Mom did something like that, I came home from school and found she gave all my barbie collection to the family next door as they were moving. Said , well you don't play with them anymore...

We had 4 of us girls in small house, so that happened to all us. I do still have all Karens toys. Wished had one of them smocked dresses she would make for us

Oh my gosh It was traumatic for me!! But on a sweet note, I loved smocked dresses! They were so beautiful! My dd had some. My mom actually taught herself how to smock.

President Reagan didn't have a TV show that I know of, but he starred in a number of movies before he started his political career.
