There's no way I could complete the MOC (31 pages in 31 days!) if I were looking after a baby. But: you can still participate, even if you can't do all 31 pages within 31 days (this is what I did 2 years ago: had a great time, learned a whole lot, even though I didn't finish it all). Maybe just scrap a few pages if/when you find the time, and then file away some of the challenges/ideas for future reference?
Throughout the year, I make copies of the photos I want to scrap (sometimes including templates) and pull them into a separate folder so I can easily grab what I want/need. During that weird twilight week between Christmas and New Year's (and this year I have the whole week off work -- yeah!), I go through and pull over all my to-be-used TLP kits (after weeding out the retired kits which happens this month?) into a folder on my hard drive. There's usually a sale during January so I wait until then to shop for new stuff. When a challenge comes up, I pop by my To Be Scrapped EHD folder and my TLP hard drive folder and hope I can make magic happen.
I'm toying with the idea of taking my laptop away with me over Christmas to do some more organising of my stash. I have 4 days/3 nights away with no internet and most evenings free as its just my mum and I at night (we are staying at my grandmas old house and she took both her phone connection and internet connection with her when she moved last month) but I'm not sure if its worth it
I would say @littlekiwi if organizing your stash is fun for you and the feeling of accomplishment is a huge payoff then do what makes you happy. If it feel smore like another chore you have to do - then rather not.
it’s not necessarily fun but for it to be a successful MOC I think for me, my stash somewhat need to be organised and if I have no internet for 3-4 days it might force me to do it. If I have internet, I tend to get sidetracked on there instead.
I think it would be an ideal time to organize and/or scrap without the distraction of the internet! I have been getting so distracted lately. I should just turn off my ethernet and just scrap or organize without getting lost on social media or here at TLP. LOL
So, if it were me, I would take it (as long as the space wasn't a big deal). The worst that happens is I don't use it. That way, if I wanted to hang out with my mom and chat, I could. But if she wanted to do her thing, and I was bored, I could organize. I totally agree, it's not really 'fun' but necessary isn't always fun.
I guess I just take it as it comes! Once I read the prompt I think about what I have that goes with it. Always check my stash before I use it. Need to incorporate some of these great ideas here but always end up waiting till I am working on a page. Wish I could be more organized!
I try slowdown scrapping to make sure I have enough photos and variety of photos to scrap. And I love moc...can't wait!
But I love shopping anyway. I always end up buying stuff because I need just some special something for a specific challenge.
So... this would be my first MOC. I think I knew it was happening last year, but I didn't participate. This year I'm more aware, and hope to have time, and might try. Where can I see the general guidelines now, so I can be thinking about all the ideas I've read and what to expect? I get the point - 31 days, 31 challenges, 1 per diem. All current products. What else do I need to know? Thanks!
Photos organized and backed up so that I can scrap on any device... I don't often sit in front of my computer these days, so Affinity on my iPad, or Project Life or Go Daddy Studio apps on my android phone. Kits all in their homes and backed up, for the same reason. Then I just take the daily prompt as I can. I haven't finished MOC in a few years, but I love the atmosphere here. My process will be check the supplies I want to use are in store as I use them...
There's a registration thread here: Registration Thread Even if you aren't sure if you will finish, feel free to register! Other than that, enjoy the ride! 31 days, 1 challenge posted each day, current in store products are the big things. Read the challenge each day, and maybe read it a second time to make sure you got all the guidelines.
Quick query - because I think I misunderstood the entire event! So, a challenge is posted each day BUT we do not have to complete the challenge ON that date? So the Jan 1 challenge can be completed on Jan 31st. Just everything must be completed by midnight Feb 2? That's a game changer (for me!)
Right. You have until Feb 2 to do all the challenges. They do not have to be done on the day assigned. Thank goodness!
Amen to that! I was trying to make it the "ultimate" challenge, I guess! That wasn't likely to succeed - life isn't tidy, even if it's easier this month than last. LOL!
