I found a life hack today to tap around the seal of the lid with a wooden spoon to break the seal.... worked like a charm! Am I the only one who can't open a pickle jar? Please tell me I'm not!
I’ve always hit the lid but that doesn’t even work for me anymore. My daughter gave me this gizmo-sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t!
I use the same thing that @Cherylndesigns uses . . . it's a round disk of thin rubber and it opens up any jar with ease! I didn't buy mine. It came in a swag bag my hubby got from work so it has his company's logo on it.
I have the rubber thingy and sometimes tap around the edge, sometimes running hot water over the metal lid helps - the metal expands more and faster than the glass. But mostly I make the googley eyes at hubby and hand it over. He opens anything like that very quickly and easily.
My tool is pretty specific... I have a husband that I use just for this.... and now a taller than me solid 16 year old too.
I don't know, I have one of those tall husband tools too! I'm working on the taller than me child - give him another year or big growth spurt.
These tools! It's fun to make him do things for me now... cause he's "strongman." They -hubby or kids - don't possess good eyes for finding things though...
I have a "punch" can opener and use the pointed tip under the lid's rim to gently break the seal, then I can easily open the jar. Similar to this one, but w/o the bottle opener on the far end. I also have the same T'ware pickle container as Courtney, but rarely transfer my pickles into it any more.
What is it with that? Like, why can't they find things in front of their face? I say way too often: If it was a snake, you'd be dead.
I had one of those. I said “had” because it’s mysteriously missing now that Aspen moved back to school.
Enjoy em while you can. Those boys grow up and move out and get married quicker than you expect. I can’t believe my son has been married for 2 years already.
I’m the only one in the house who can find things. My mom used to say “ if it was a snake, it would’ve bit ya”
This is funny because I've always tapped the edges & opened everything myself. I'm having some elbow issues (tennis elbow- ugh!) and asked my hubby to open the marinara jar last night & he said "Wow, you actually need me! I feel so important!" lol I'm pretty independent & impatient= I never need him for handyman type of stuff!
I tap it gently on the tiled part of my kitchen wall, if that does not work then I ease the tip of a butter knife ( not sharp ) under the lid and that breaks the air seal.
