I just read that the tv show All in the Family debuted this month in 1971. Those of you who are old enough to remember, can you imagine that show airing today? I don't think it would ever happen, but I loved it when I was younger. Another favorite of mine was Happy Days and I remember crying crocodile tears when it ended. Some others that come to mind are Alice, One Day at a Time (I wanted to BE Valorie Bertinelli lol) , Knots Landing...so many good ones! In college, I quit Lifeguard training because it happened to be at the same time that Knot's Landing was on :giggle. Oh the days when you had to wait a week or more between episodes and dedicated years of your life to a show. That seems to be the exception more than the rule these days.

Do you have any old tv shows that you remember fondly from your youth?

Yes, all of the above here, too. How about The Big Valley? Who here loved Dallas? "Who shot J.R?" Then the spin-off of Dallas - Knott's Landing - Jan - I was SO hooked on that one, too! SO many great shows!

Yes, I loved Dallas, too. It seemed like an eternity waiting to find out who shot J.R.! And remember the whole season where Bobby died, turned out to be a dream!

These are all awesome! I remember so many of them!

Others I liked as a kid/teen... I dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Family Ties, Different Strokes, Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Little House on the Prairie, The Brady Bunch, Giligan's Island, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island and Charlie's Angels to name a few.

oh and I can't forget I love Lucy and MASH! I used to watch those, along with All in the family and Happy Days with my mom. My mom always laughed at ornery Archie Bunker. :giggle

Oh!! Those are all so great! I adored them all!! Da plane, da plane!

Fun fact... Gilligan aka Bob Denver moved here to our little town in WV after he left acting. His wife, Dreama, is from this area and they started a local radio station named "Little Buddy Radio" that she still runs today. She is very active in our community. I met him at a town event years ago and spent quite a bit of time talking to him. They have a son with severe autism and started The Denver Foundation to assist special needs children and their families.

Yes and Yes!! I cried and cried when MASH ended and I still love Lucy!!

Well, these will date me but I had favorites like Captain Kangaroo, the Rifleman, Bonanza, Perry Mason, Rawhide, Sky King, and American Bandstand!

Captain Kangaroo made its debut on October 3, 1955. I was born the next day so I've always felt a kinship to him :)

Hawaii Five-O with Jack Lord was one of my favorites. That man was swoon worthy!

Wonderful World of Disney and The Lawrence Welk shows were a part of my childhood as well. The first time seeing Disney in color was mind blowing!

Edit to add that I lived in Toledo when MASH aired and it was a big thing for the town of Oregon and Tony Packo's Cafe during those years. Every so often someone from work would make a run to Packo's for lunch.... Yummy! They had a huge viewing party for the last episode and the local CBS station had a special about it as well. Jamie Farr was so proud of being from that area and Toledo and the surrounding area loved him for it.

My mother loved to watch Lawrence Welk! And I love Jamie Farr!! That's such a great story!
ETA: as soon as I read Hawaii Five-O, the theme song immediately started playing in my head lol

Yeah, that was an iconic theme song. And, I'm sorry but the reboot of Hawaii Five-O just isn't the same. Thought of another one... Magnum P.I.

I watched a lot of the shows mentioned here! I was a HUGE TV watcher because there wasn't much else to do in our small town. I remember being so excited when we got a VCR and I could record shows. The one I remember the most was recording the final episode of Cheers. I was in college and had to work that night and couldn't watch it, but when I got home I got to watch it and I thought that was so cool. LOL

Most of these are from the 70s, but there's a good amount from the 80s and 90s, too. I need to do a layout about this!
