January 5: Fill Up A Fourth Hi Everyone! It’s January 2021, and MOC 9 is underway! Hoping you are enjoying the challenges and having fun! Today, I am challenging you to Fill Up A Fourth. Squares have 4 equal sides and 4 right angles. For this challenge, I’m focusing on four equal parts of a square when it is divided. A Fourth! The challenge will be for you to scrap in ONE fourth only. Here are the squares divided into equal parts that you get to choose your base design from. Rules for this challenge: Create a 12x12 square layout. Choose a divided square from above – A, B, C or D. Choose a single equal fourth from the square you chose – 1, 2, 3, or 4. Scrap; Fill up that Fourth. ALL items used on your page must be in that fourth only. A single full 12x12 background paper is the only thing allowed outside of the chosen fourth. Clarifications: Photos and Journaling, if included, must remain inside the fourth you are scrapping in. You may flip squares C and D above - horizontally or vertically. For my layout, I chose D. I flipped the D Square and used #3 as my fourth! All scrapping is done within my fourth. Christa (@cfile) also created a layout example for us as well! Isn't it beautiful! She chose Square C, and then the #2 section! One from @SeattleSheri. Lots of lovely layering and bold colors! And that extraction! WOW! She used B, #2. And lastly, one from Annemieke! This sentiment hits home and I like the focus the fourth brings to her layout! For her layout, she chose A, #1. Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: 1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). 2. Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. 3. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). If you use product from other stores, your pages must contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).
For clarifications.... Notation: While templates are helpful, this isn't a template challenge. Please try your best with the challenge as it's listed. The spirit of the challenge isn't to find templates. It's a MOC challenge and meant to be inspirational within the listed parameters above. I'm not going to be holding up a ruler to make sure your "fourth" is exact. Question 1: Answer 1: For this challenge, yes, the requirement is to scrap a 12x12 page. Question 2: Answer 2: If you save for web, you can choose the file size that you want max for your layout. It would upload at 600 x 600. You will upload a regular layout like your others in your gallery. A square. Question 3: Answer 3: I do not have any template. There might have been one in the art journaling forum. I'll go look. There are guides and rulers in most programs that can help you measure our fourth. Just in case, a reference for guides that Liz has on her blog to explain what I mean - https://www.scrappingwithliz.com/2011/05/tips-guides.html. If you have the rulers viewable, you can just drag your guides to the middle. Question 4: Answer 4:
@jk703 12x12 is a requirement??? I only scrap in 8.5 x 11. But that size can be divided into quarters as well...
You don't, by any means, have the four options available as shape templates, do you? That would be SUCH a help. If not, I'm going to do what will looks like 1/4 but I'm not going to measure it out. Is that ok?

@jk703 My template from a past designer challenge for Kim Jensen is still available for free in her shop. The '"B" option of the template in the set has 4 square quadrants in the background. Just use what you want from it! It would help with one of the options for this challenge for those who need it.... https://the-lilypad.com/store/November-2020-Challenge-Freebie.html
