I really haven't done as many crafty things this year as I usually do at Christmas. I blame Covid and the fact that work is pretty much sucking the life out of me this year, but I did manage to throw a little something together for the members of my department at school. These are little dry erase boards for their desks. The bandana ribbon is a nod to one of our school's spirit symbols. I found the little picture frames at Walmart for 98 cents and used some scrap paper on the inside :)

Are you doing crafty things for Christmas this year?

I'm going to needle felt some ornaments for a group of friends, then try to make a fox for my sister, also needle felted. Lets hope it works!

Oh those are cute Jan!

I am crocheting like crazy trying to get gifts done! My son requested a large crocheted blanket in his college colors. It was going quite well until I started to run out of yarn and realized that the main color had been discontinued!!! I improvised and I'm back on track with it. We're together for another three weeks after Christmas, so I figure I'll wrap it up unfinished if I have to and finish it before he goes back to school.

I have an infinity scarf almost done for my MIL... I just need to sew the ends together.

I am just over halfway done with this marvelously squishy pocket shawl for my mother. It was a late add to the project pile, hoping to finish it soon as I need to ship it.

Don't even ask, but I crocheted a quick Santa hat for my dad's stuffed groundhog. Sigh... he thinks he's funny and has found an audience for his silliness on Facebook. The groundhog (Bob) goes on adventures with my father and shows up frequently in his photos... so I decided he needed a Santa hat... lol!

Thanks!
Glad you were able to improvise! I'm so envious of those who can crochet and do it well. I've tried...maybe I need more patience lol. I bet that pocket shawl is amazing!!

I haven't done a thing for Christmas crafts yet this year... I've been busy making hats and other warm things for myself because my friend and I aren't' going to the gym this year, so we've been walking outside and it's getting colder all the time. :giggle

The one thing that I make every year for the grandparents and my hubby is a 4x6 desk calendar and I haven't even started that yet. Eek! I better get on that!

Those white boards are so cute Jan! @IntenseMagic

I wanna see pictures of your ornaments Jan @QuiltyMom

That's so fun that your Dad has a groundhog with a FB following Tracie @tkradtke . I love that you made him a santa hat!

the girls are making small sewing gifts for friends this year. I still haven't started really, other than to make the Christmas Cards.

@Karen Here's my DYD page showing my mushroom ornaments!! Now it's on to making the fox for my sister. The artist from whom I purchase my wool is having a Penguin felt-along this Saturday, so she might be getting a penguin instead!

Those mushrooms are so cute!!! They really pop against the green of the tree! So... you knit the mushrooms and then do the felting process right? It's intriguing! So fun!

This is needle felting, so no knitting and such involved! The needle has barbs on it, so when you poke the wool it causes it to felt. You shape it as you go. It's rather addictive, and a great way to get steps on your Fitbit. lol!

Here's the artist I LOVE: Sara Renzulli of Sarafina Fiber Art. She is so kind and generous with her tutorials and teaching, especially during covid. Her tutorials are so fun to watch because not only is she an amazing teacher, she also creates the most amazing things! Check her out on her YouTube Channel =>> here.

@QuiltyMom I have NO DOUBT your work will come out in grand fashion! I still have yet to do needle felting. Have finished 3 weavings (Circular is homage to hubster's Cherokee roots), and have two Nuno (wet) felting bags up next. Digi stuff has to wait for January! :D

OH! That's ever more cool! I didn't realize that was the technique! I always wondered how you knitted stuff so tiny and got it to look right! I can't wait to check out those videos. I'm really intrigued!! Thanks for sharing. :agree

Those weavings are MARVELOUS!! And I've yet to try nuno felting, but I'm sure I'll get around to it one of these days. But THIS is on my list to make, whenever I figure it out since it's on Etsy. I'd much rather make it myself.

Maybe we should do a January swap technique challenge, lol!!

I don't do crafty things but my mom makes my sister & me a Christmas-related crafty gift every year. So far, she has done themed scrapbooks, recipe books, canvas art with my kids' handprints/footprints, a wooden Christmas-themed house, wreaths, mixed media art for the wall, ornaments... probably more that I'm not remembering off the top of my head. We'll see what this year's gift is!

She also does cute kiddie crafts with my son when he spends Friday afternoons with her since he gets out of school at 2 pm with virtual learning. He called her this week to specifically request some Christmas crafts for this week! She is a retired kindergarten/first grade teacher (and he's in first grade) so it's right up her alley.
