What's lockdown like where you are?

We got Cincinnati OH news and I heard today that Ohio does not expect the uptrend to start peaking or going down until mid may so I really wonder if I will not be working from home for awhile. I can work from home with no issues (other than printing something) but I have to say it is exremely isolating and I have discovered that I really like the seeing other people.

I've been watching the daily updates at 2 p.m. for Ohio and today's was sobering. Every day they have been saying we have not yet hit the surge in the state and the modeling is showing it very well could be mid-May with a possibility of 8 to 10,000 new cases PER DAY. As of now we are only at 1,137 positives reported to Ohio Department of Health. But they do keep talking about everything the hospitals are doing to prepare to handle the expected load.

On top of it all, the first confirmed case in my county was announced tonight.

I'm in a bit of disbelief that they have to enforce $1,000 (AUD) fines here to get people to follow the social isolation rules even with so much closed now. It seems like there's been a complete backflip in the way people seem to think and act here now compared to just after the bushfires (a few short months ago), i don't know what happened but it's only just starting to sink in to me what a sad reflection it is on humanity that doing something (or effectively nothing and just staying home) for the good of society and for the sake of the greater community needs that kind of enforcement.

i'm sad for you that you can't see your eldest DD but i hope Jacinda's clarity & tight restrictions have a more beneficial impact than ScoMo's methods - i get the economic repercussions for the country as a whole and having to weigh that against current and future health impacts which has slowed his roll out of measures but i guess politicians have underestimated the 'it won't happen to me' or 'but it's a sunny day so i'm going to go to the beach' mentality that is ingrained here and needs to be addressed.
Not a political measure, but Kevin Bacon's 'i'm staying home for...' hashtag thing seems like a good way of making people think about others, even if it's only on a small scale for each individual that can have a lot bigger community benefit to address thinking and behaviour.

But as to what lock-down looks like here, we aren't really there yet (esp. when you consider hairdressers are still open - that to me is really weird, glad i can just continue to trim my own fringe like i've been doing for years) but social distancing when each kid is doing online school in a different room and DH is working from home in a third room was taken to a new level yesterday. DH was experimenting with green screen backdrops as he's recording lectures at home now to upload for uni when remote learning commences, and DD was questioning the efficacy of her microphone so they had a mini zoom meeting from opposite ends of the house. (DS wanted to join in and then just kept trying to appear as a headless ghost in the background of DH's screen)

In Belgium it has been somewhat like everywhere since March 14 ... lockdown ... only to the store to get food ... pharmacies, newsagents also remain open. A walk, some cycling in the immediate vicinity should not ... visit with family and friends ...
Meanwhile, borders to neighboring countries have also been closed ...
Yesterday the measures were extended to April 19 ... but I think they will certainly be extended until early May ...

we have a very strict lockdown, in particular in my region (north italy, I live near Milano, and we're affected most than other countries).
We cannot go outside for any reason, just to shop food, pharmacy (just 1 person for each family) or emergency
Only people with dogs can take a walk (i want a dog so bad )
Some people of course can go to work (critical business, hospitals, food, transport..)
In my town, the mayor issued a special law, we can go to shop food only in some specific days based on your surname. For example my surname start with C, so i can go monday morning or thursday afternoon.
we cannot visit family or friends (of course). Kids need to stay at home all the time
I'm living like this since 10 March, and i don't even go to shop food, I order online.
It's difficult of course, i so need to take a walk outside.

Same as @LynnG - not that it’s a massive issue to be in lockdown for me. I’ve been in lockdown for a bit anyway while unwell and even if it wasn’t full lockdown yet I’d be doing it cause I have a cold. The major change at home is my mum is off work cause she works in hospitality/fast food but she’s being paid as normal so all good here. To be honest I’m glad our prime minister just shut us down with 48 hours notice and didn’t wait for things to get worse. @bellbird sounds like ScottMo needs to take a leaf out of his smaller neighbour and just shut things down. It’s very black and white what can/can’t happen here on alert level 4.

Lockdown in Dallas, people are stupid. Photographers think they should be essential and want to find ways to go out and still do business, but they can't (it's a fine of up to 2k if caught) and the whole photography community here is arguing with each other.

Dallas County has community spread confirmed and a lot of cases popping up.

People are out everywhere despite the rules that are much the same, stay home, essential trips only. But honestly there are SO many people in the DFW metroplex, countless gas stations and "essential stores" every half a mile or less. So it means they have way more people out than they should.

Toilet paper still can't be found ANYWHERE, and my husband has tried close to 20 stores last week. He now calls himself a hunter/gatherer.

Most days I do pretty well at staying positive and grateful. Not today. I'm irritated by unnecessary drama in my home and in my email and honestly had half a mind today to literally drop off the internet altogether. I'll be more rational tonight after a glass or three of wine. Is it permissible to start now?

Our state won't permit K-12 online instruction in lieu of in-person instruction because of equity issues (not everyone can afford internet).

Clark County just worked out the kinks on this. They are handing out chromebooks to kids from donated money, and they have Cox, spectrum, and someone else doing free/low cost internet depending on the income level. I think it's a sign that they just figured out that school will be closed longer than April 13.

If we leave the house, we have to send an SMS with our name and the reason.

Wow! Does the SMS go to the government? Is there a local leader in charge of monitoring? I'm curious how this works.

He takes my collapsible wagon that I bought for hauling paper scrapping supplies to retreats so that he doesn't have to touch a cart.

Lockdown is weird here. We are on "Stay Home" procedures.
There is an essential and non-essential list of businesses. Essential can stay open (grocery stores, construction, medical, etc) non-essential has to close (hair dressers, liquor stores, casinos). There's a lot of businesses not specifically mentioned, and overall, they are staying open. One of those is hobby/craft stores.
A few days ago, the governor signed a no more than 10 people gathering, and closed playgrounds, rec centers, etc. The Las Vegas City mayor is refusing, and has left open parks, which of course means everyone is flocking there.

Our movements are not tracked and we are not limited in anyway. We are supposed to stay in those guidelines. We walk around the block, and go to the grocery store. We choose to avoid going places overall as a family. Currently, my husband is the one who runs out and gets groceries. Some of the stores have a special time for hospital/medical people, so he's taking advantage of that. Most of the stores have a limit of one on things that have been hoarded around here, so the stores have stock. My husband is an RN, so he's working.

We ended up picking up my dad from the airport (I mentioned it in the Utah earthquake thread). We drove down Las Vegas Boulevard, this is after the casinos were shut down. I didn't Photoshop. And for those who've driven here, it only took 15 minutes to drive the whole thing! Usually it takes 15 minutes to get from one light to the next.

Yes. It's so surreal. I think they did that in Italy too.
They say they don't collect any personal data, but I'm not sure!
You have to show it to the police officers if they stop you. And there is a fine if you're not ok (like people driving 100 miles to go to the super market, when they have plenty of grocery stores in their area!)
Again, I'm grateful that our government did everything ahead of time, before it got out of control. Our health system was broken even before that!

Mostly the same here in Turkey! Travels between cities are suspended. Schools are closed including universities. Most of the shops are closed especially the ones in malls. Some street shops and restaurants are still accepting customers and some irresponsible people are still using parks to gather, picnic etc when they see some sunshine. There is an Italian mayor video around the net if you ever watched. He says "Do all of you love running suddenly?". It's the same here too lol!

You find a few people not respecting social distance here and there. Municipality goes around in cars from time to time and warns people to stay at home. It's really quiet out here.

There are no masks or Redoxon vitamins in the pharmacies around my house. Looks like people hoard to keep themselves safe. We needed C vitamin in the past few days though. My mother, me and my brother stay in the same house and two days ago mom got flu. We were very anxious that she got Covid-19. She was coughing constantly. I wanted to get some C-D vitamins and zinch to keep our immune system healthy but couldn't find in near pharmacies. Luckily she didn't had fever and now she's getting better. In the mean time we got a bit of her flu though I feel the need to check my body temperature now and then just to be sure.

Our district gave out Chromebooks at the beginning of the year for about 3 years now, but our internet provider is not Cox and I guess they aren’t helpful yet? In the past the laptops allowed kids to go to the local library for internet, but now that it’s closed :/

I'm in NYC and in my house my Hubby and I have been WFH since 12th March, when both our companies caught early wind of this. We are going out once a week to the local store and that's it. We have been taking it in turns to go on a walk each day. We seem to be able to get pretty much most things here in our local store, including TP and eggs. And because we were well stocked before, we are doing ok. It's just weird being trapped inside for near on 23 hrs a day!

Random: our library posted that they extended the routers to reach the parking lot so people could still use the internet! It made me happy to see.

I know Comcast is another cable internet offering the free. I don't know which other companies, because I only have Cox or centurylink here.

The three of us at home, hubby, daughter and me with three cats. The boys in Europe with their own lock down.
We may leave the house one at a time, in the car to buy groceries or medicine.
There are no restaurants are open, no take - aways, no food deliveries.
We may not walk or run in the street/beaches/forests etc.
the undersea internet cable has been damaged again so our wifi speed in dreadfully slow.
We have power though (no load shedding at present) and water (yay to dams at 70% at the end of summer)
Shops are stocked - even with toilet paper so that side of things is good.
I worry about folk whose income has dried up, many live from hand to mouth.

I rely on saying that God is good and that we will get through this too.

Yup, pretty much the same. We just went under a "Shelter at Home" order at 5pm today. Basically, just go out for necessities. Schools, libraries, restaurants have all been closed for the last 2 weeks. For the last few weeks, we have all been staying home with just my hubby or I going to get groceries. One of my daughters is still babysitting for a Pharmacist who needs to go to work.
