We did a bunch of Christmas shopping online this year and that means waiting for it all to be delivered.

Yep, this happened this morning. I was so hopeful it was the FedEx truck with my laptop, but nope. It was just the garbage truck!

My new laptop was supposed to be delivered last Friday but FedEx messed up BIG time. It was at a FedEx facility just a few miles from my home but never got delivered. After many calls to FedEx it's still not here. It's been in transit to another nearby FedEx facility for 4 days! That's their story anyways. :banghead

On Saturday we saw a news article saying FedEx is having major problems in our area with high package volumes and drivers walking off the job. One lady has been waiting over a week for her type 1 diabetes insulin pump meds!

While it's a hassle to wait for my laptop (signature required upon delivery) that's not half as bad as waiting over a week for medicine you need to stay alive! Hopefully everything I ordered will arrive soon, but at minimum in time for Christmas.

That got me wondering if others are feeling shipping pains this holiday season.
Have you shipped all your packages to family/friends?
Are you still waiting for packages to arrive?
 
I ordered very little online this year, but about half of what I ordered, I waited until too late and had to pay extra for expedited shipping to make sure it got here in time. Okay... it was just two orders... but man those extra shipping fees added up quickly! One was a photo book that I made for my in-laws... we have Christmas with them on Saturday, so I paid extra for guaranteed delivery by Wednesday.... it arrived today! So glad to have it in hand, as it's their main gift from us (plus I wanted to be there when they opened it vs. just sending it to them).

Hope they find your laptop soon!!
 
I just used my work email account to sign up for a free Amazon Prime scrip so I could get two-day shipping for a couple things I ordered today for the kiddos! :giggle

My kids are done & so is my mom's bday (on the 22nd). I still need to get something for my parents, sister, sister's BF, nephew, grandma, & aunt but need to wait until payday Friday. Half of those will be GCs so it shouldn't be too bad. I obvs won't be getting them online, though!
 
I ordered my DH a Saints Football team throw. I can only get it from the states and, because I live in the UK, I ordered it weeks ago. but it still hasn't come. So I too am rushing to the door every time I hear a van pull up :giggle
 
I haven’t ordered anything myself but I sure have sold a lot of theater gift certificates on the job this month! And two patrons have called saying they were getting worried because they still hadn’t received their’s after waiting a week. It must be so hectic at the mail and delivery places!
 
We usually purchase the majority of our presents online . . . and we are waiting for most of them to arrive tomorrow. <3
 
Most of my orders have been delivered. The last one is still not shipped. I ordered it on Dec 5th. The company is claiming high volume of orders and that it will be processed in longer estimated time than stated on their website. :blahblahblah I replied to their email to tell me if that means it will not be here by Christmas. I haven't gotten a reply yet. So annoying. :waiting
 
I don't order gifts but have done some online shopping lately. I ordered the prints from Persnickety Prints on Thursday. Delivery was to be on Monday. They came on Saturday. I also ordered some 12x12 sleeves to put the prints in on the 13th since I wasn't sure I had enough. Delivery was to be today (17th) but they came yesterday. And, yesterday I ordered some CM albums. They were shipped today with an expected delivery on Thursday.

My black Friday orders all were delivered before expected. All I can say is that I usually have better luck with shipping times during December than any other time of year.
 
I'm an online shopper. Amazon is my go-to. I keep thinking I'm done, then there's just one more thing. I make sure that I can get them delivered before Christmas.
 
Yeah, this is not my year. I ordered a pair of Clark's slippers for my DIL, and while they did arrive pretty quickly, there was only one slipper in the box :giggle. Now, I currently have a claim in with UPS for a shipment that sat at "arrival scan" in Hodgkins IL for 2 weeks :furious. I'm just glad neither was a major gift. The lost one was a couple of pairs of shorts and a couple of shirts.

I went through a huge ordeal with Dell last year when I ordered DS's laptop. I ordered it on Black Friday and then about a week later they cancelled the order for no apparent reason and told me I might not get it by Christmas. Believe it or not, the thing that helped the most was Tweeting about them and @ them. They responded immediately and got it out to me fast!!
 
I have a love......well more like hate relationship with all of the courier companies here so unless ordering online is the only option, I prefer to buy in store. If I was getting anything delivered I would have it delivered to where christmas will be as the couriers seem to be able to deliver just fine there.
 
I bought one thing from the US....it's still in Kentucky! I have no idea if it will get here in Brazil on the right time....
and another pack I bought here, on Black Friday, still no sign of it...:furious
 
I'm waiting on one item, but I just ordered it today and it's due to be delivered on Friday. It's a cell phone for my grandson, so I was waiting until the last minute to order it ... no point in paying for service when it's not going to be used until the 25th.

My second to last item arrived last night. FedEx delivered it to my office at 5:24pm. We close at 4:30pm, so the driver just left the box sitting against the door. <sigh> Thankfully it wasn't stolen as the box contained a $400+ iPad. I guess WM doesn't require FedEx to get signatures ...

What brand of 12x12 protective sleeves do you use?

I use Pioneer in my CM albums.
 
I order most online or went to the store for the rest. I need three things, and must get them on Friday. If something doesn't arrive, I wrap the picture, lol! Most came yesterday, and some today and tomorrow.
 
I ordered a driftwood Christmas on December 1. It's coming from a lake in Oregon and not even shipped yet, so I may not have a Christmas tree this year.
 
We don't buy much for Christmas as all our adult family lives elsewhere but I handle all the on line orders and did get anything I needed/wanted before December. I've mostly stuck to Amazon and Eddie Bauer since EB is the only store near me where I can return on line orders if need be. I used to order a lot from Lands End and LLBean for me or Dick but no more. Great service but no local returns.

Last week Dick ordered a book and I ordered an Amazon car phone holder he wanted and both arrived in two days. Love that fee shipping!
 
I have officially received all of my Christmas deliveries I'm pretty sure the FedEx or UPS guy has been here every day these past 2 weeks! They really seem on the ball (at least in our area) this year.

I made the mistake last year and didn't open all of my packages right away...just assuming all was correct. Well, about 2 days before Christmas I start opening and wrapping and I'm missing one of my daughter's bigger presents. It apparently was back ordered but I didn't pay attention to my notifications. So I ended up just canceling the order and having to go out shopping right before Christmas. This year I made sure to open everything right away.
 
I have received everything I ordered online already, except for one item that I'm pretty sure won't get here by Christmas. My son is on the high school swim team and has hinted that he wanted a swim parka with his name on it, so I secretly contacted the coach to find out where they order those coats and order one on December 5th. They said anything customized had to be ordered by November 29th to guarantee Christmas delivery, so I went in knowing it might not arrive, but I'm still hoping it will. :giggle If not, he'll have one more Christmas present in the new year. Ha ha!

@Scrapping with Liz I had that happen one year with not opening the packages as they came too... I thought I lost something somehow until I went back and checked my orders on Amazon online.
 
on a side note, I ordered a new kindle paperwhite for me, for xmas, and it arrived! but the shop was here in Brazil,so, I'm doing a happy dance here!
