Help! I've got it now I don't know what to do with it!

I've tried to like Bridge. I just can't do it!
I'm using Acdsee which works similar, but has a few quirks that make it work better for me. I wish it was free like Bridge though!

Really? I never thought it was in any way confusing. LOL It drills down through the folders just like the OS and the images are displayed by folder.

Acdsee is PC only I think. At least it was when I first started digiscrapping. (ETA I just saw that it is on Mac as well now.)

I don't tag my items - so maybe that's a difference as well. I keep them in their respective folders that I get them into.

You can open multiple files in PSCC.

If you want them in separate tabs just select (highlight) them in your files, right click on one of them, then choose Open In Photoshop CC.

If you want them on the layout you're working on, just select them in your files, then drag them over to your layout and drop them. This is what I do every time I make a layout. I realize it might be harder to do it this way if you have a small screen, but maybe temporarily you can make the PS window smaller so you can see your file window.

I'm a drag and drop scrapper, too . . . but I have two screens: one with PSCC and one with Bridge. I can drag one at a time (which is what I usually do), but I can also grab a few items. I scrapped with PSE and the bin until the last couple of years and didn't think I'd like scrapping without it. I just had to get used to it. Now when I go back to PSE, I'm like @bestcee and get aggravated. It's one extra step I don't want to take as when I drag and drop into PSCC, it goes right onto my canvas.

I can see how this method might not be as easy with only one screen and having to go from window to window . . .

I don't think I found it confusing. It's the layout.

Seriously, I switched podcast apps this week because of the layout. #quirks.

We all have our quirks. LOL To me the file browser in both look pretty much the same to me.

Wow, I love all of your help and suggestions!! I've been traveling all day and have just gotten a chance to get on my computer. I'm going to have some down time (hopefully) for the next few evenings, so I'm going to re-read all of this and I am going to spend a certain amount of time on PSCC and try to put some of your wonderful ideas and suggestions to work. I really appreciate all the tips and tricks and info that you have provided. I've enjoyed the usual "we've got your back" attitude of The Pad!! You ALL rock!! :yourock:yourock:heartslub:heartslub:heartslub

@cfile @Cherylndesigns I don't know if this works in CC, but it worked in CS2 and also in my current CS5. I'm using Windows 10. I go to File Explorer, find the files I want to use. If they are in the same folder, I CTRL click to select multiples in the same folder. While they are still selected, I drag them to the PS icon that is open on the taskbar, and they all open up, one by one, on my existing layout. (You will see a message when you hover over the icon, Pin to Adobe Photoshop... Continue hovering while your open Photoshop layout appears, then you will see the + sign which is the signal that the files will be placed, one by one.) I can then move them around, or hide them temporarily if they don't seem to be working for me at the moment. I remember watching an Adobe Photoshop video years ago when I first got CS2 that explained this process, and it was something I got used it. It also retains the file name with this process.

Yes you are right. I figured that out yesterday Marilyn.. thanks.. I was opening the folders directly in PSCC which is why I was unable to do the drop/drag method... I tried it a few times yesterday and also today... it is eh ok.. I still like going to my File> Place (which also maintains the file name) as i only like bringing in one thing at a time.. with the Place it will open the file and I can browse and choose what I want and then I go back and look again, as I am not one for using a bunch of items and have to move them all around.. I like doing one at a time, because it takes me a bit to place it where I want it :)

Thank you for your detailed comment Marilyn. It means alot that you took the time to help me :) Hugs :)

I had to chuckle, as you obviously know my penchant for having everything but the kitchen sink in my layouts. I usually pull in what speaks to me and quite often, accidents show up on my finished layout that I hadn't even thought of. You are so disciplined, and your layouts are lovely and well thought out. Now I know why. :heartlub

ha ha.. Thanks re my pages.. I do bring things in and then be like, ummm no.. delete.. LOL I just don't like a lot on my page to figure out where I am... so one thing at a time as I decide what I might like to use it how I roll.. it is funny how we all work so differently .. very interesting too!!!

It's fun to read about our different processes to get to the same place.
I'm like @mcurtt bring a bunch in and play with it. Of course, then I hide what's not working and use the delete hidden layers. Because if I delete as I go, I might have to go bring something in again when I charge my mind!

How Awesome Cheryl! I'm staying with my PSE....... just because I'm a cheap a$$ ........... :giggle

we will see, maybe someday I will change my mind. Think of the brain health that comes from this change for you! Learning new things is always a good thing for the brain.

I usually only bring one thing in at a time, but I prefer pulling it in from a separate window containing my digistash. Here's a screenshot of what my screen usually looks like while I'm scrapping. Photoshop filling most of the screen and my Finder (files) window off to the side. So I have my stash continuously open, I can easily scroll through it, and I just drag the items over and drop them onto my layout.

This may have been covered already, but y'all are talking about drag-and-drop or right-clicking and choosing to open via PS ... All I do is double click .png files and they open up in PS because I set PS as the default program for .png files. Or I can use CTRL and choose as many as I want. Same with tiff files--that also gives me a preview image of TIFFs, which is nice. (.jpg files are set to open in the photos app, which means papers are drag and drop OR I double-click a paper to see it bigger on my screen via the Photos app; then I choose "Open With" and select PS. I use far fewer papers on a layout then I do elements, so this isn't a problem for me, though I used to have .jpg files' default app PS...maybe I'll switch again?)

This is a great idea!
Question: Does it open in a new tab? Or in the main window?

Does it drive you nuts with photos when you have it as the default jpeg? I like to view them in a photo viewer sometimes.

It opens in its own little window on the main screen. If the element is small, it opens at 100% size. If I open many elements at once, they just sort of cascade across PS. It's easy.

Does it drive me nuts? That's a good question. :) I admit I've switched the default app if I'm using A LOT of papers and want them to open directly into PS. But usually I like to look at patterned papers before I open them in PS so that I can tell if I like the pattern. And same thing with photos: I like to look at them to tell which snapshot(s) would be good for scrapping. And sometimes I just like looking at photos, so double-clicking to have them open up right in Photos works for me.

This made me chuckle too. “Everything but the kitchen sink “.

Yes courtney I heard about you hiding layers. Lol. I agree it’s so interesting to be finding out how everyone works. Several of you have said that there were different ways to do everything and I’m starting to get that.

It’s so true Barbara! I do love to learn new things and have made up my mind that I will learn this. I’ve had so many discussions with Christa @cfile and she’s convinced me that there’s another world waiting for me in Cc. I can totally see it already. I’m so happy you are all either using it or interested in it!

I may end up doing that Michele. I thought that would bug me but so many of you do it that way so it must be a cleaner way to move files around.
