Help! I've got it now I don't know what to do with it!

Really @cfile ? You can't drag and drop? Is your workspace set to floating windows or tabs?
upload_2019-2-6_2-31-9.png

Also it will only allow me to choose one at a time even holding ctrl, so I am wondering if it is the way it is set up?
With file place? Or in windows itself? I use the multiple file thing all the time, not just for scrapping. I hold ctrl+click with the mouse to select all kinds of multiple files. Like deleting from my downloads folder, or moving folders, or combining folders.

My screen is the same as yours.. I figured out what the issue was.. DUH :) - Thanks for the screen shot but that wasn't it.. LOL!!!

NOTED: I just figured out why it didn't work for me as I was doing File >Open which only allows one file at a time , instead of opening up the file outside of PS CC and then dragging in. I tried that and it allowed the drop drag method.

I am going to sitck with my File > Place Embedded as that works best for me, but at least I figured that out re drop/drag

That re ctrl click is fine in my folders... I was using the open inside of PSCC and that doesn't do the drag drop.. only if you open the file outside of PS!

Yep! That is so true! I never use file >open for that reason.
I never got used to file >place so I'm glad there are multiple ways to do the same thing!

Absolutely.. I so agree with that Courtney.. :) Hugs and thanks for the screen shots.. at least we now have trouble shooted in case someone else has an issue :)

I figured that out finally, Christa. It's just having no workspace + not being able to open multi files is totally befuddling me. I trust though - if you say I won't need it - I'll be patient.
To clip in PS CC here is the info I posted in the blend technique tutorial:

(To clip in PS CC & PSE right click on the layer in the layer pallet and choose Create Clipping layer from the drop down. [Short cut is PC=ALT+Ctrl+G; MAC=ALT+Cmmd+G])

I have never used PSE except to help my mother-in-law who does use it. She loves that work space too. I don't use CC, but use PSCS5 and I know that when I first loaded this newer version of photoshop it had my one 12x12 filling the whole screen. I switched to what Courtney showed so I can have multiple files open in their own windows. I'm away from that computer now, but I'll try to come back and show a screen shot for what I do. My BIGGEST helper and my replacement for the workspace you guys love in PSE is my 2nd monitor. I have photoshop on my big left screen and then I will have up to four windows of file explorer open on my 2nd screen. I will have different kits or folders of pictures open in each of those four windows. then I can find the papers and elements I want (CTRL-click) them all and I drag them all into photoshop next to my 12x12 canvas. They all open in their own window kind of on top of each other. You can do CTRL-ALT and plus or minus to make the whole window bigger or smaller too so they all look like little thumbnails. Once they are open you can drag them individually into your layout and close them when you are done. Or you could bring them in one at a time too since you can see the preview in the file explorer windows.

This all sounds way more complicated than it is... maybe I should record a quick video for you tonight. :)

I'm not sure how much this will help, but when I hover my mouse over my PS tabs (they're called buttons, I think, in Windows settings) in my taskbar, it shows all open files; I can click on the file I want (in this case the "grow" metal element) and I'm taken to that element within PSCC. I can also close files via those tabs. This isn't a bin, but it does act like one without taking up screen space. If you're running Windows 10, you should be able to set up your taskbar by right-clicking the taskbar. Choose Taskbar settings>combine taskbar buttons and choose "when taskbar is full" or "never," depending on your preference. I chose "when full." It took some getting used to but it works well for CC.

Side note: this isn't how I usually set up my PS. I keep my 12x12 canvas to the right and I have all my open items to the left, so I can drag them onto my canvas, but I wanted to show you how the screen looks even with that pesky paper in the way. :)

Excellent Sara!!

oh and Cheryl, with PSCC you can use multiple styles at the same time. after you apply a style if you wanted to apply another, hold down your shift button and select another style from the style panel.

Thanks, Patsy! I really need to learn this. I KNOW everything is so much easier than it was in PSE!! Thanks for the vote of confidence!!

It's not that it's much easier or harder. It's just different and once you get used to those differences, you will love it. It's so much more powerful! You can do so much more customization with Photoshop.

Use "Browse in Bridge" and you can drag and drop multiple items at the same time AND see them!! :)

I don't remember when it happened, but Bridge was a part of PS (I think it was PS5 or 7) and then they made it a stand alone app and it didn't work the same as I was used to. I got SOO upset until I got used to the new way. It's essential to the way I scrap because I like to use pieces from different kits.

I just use the place embedded and I am ok.. I think there are many ways to do things in PS CC but the best is that everyone does it the way they are more comfortable... I started with PS7 and the Bridge would freeze up on me so now I only use it when I am looking at a PSD file that I haven't made a jpeg of yet.... Bridge reads PSDs so that helps me when I need to find an unfinished page :)

I had to do a lightning conversion to PSCC last year when I attempted MOC because Microsoft did a massive "creative" upgrade to Windows 10 and Digital Image Pro suddenly no longer worked. I finally wound up dropping out of MOC because I just couldn't make the jump into light space! That said, I started doing the tutorials that are offered, free, when you open PSCC. They are short and sweet. I learned a great deal. There are a gazillion tutoriasl in Creative Cloud. Exploring the site is rewarding. Lots of things to use free, too - fonts, actions, etc, all in one place. I'm not an expert yet, but learning - at least as long as it doesn't crash every time I double click the gradient bar to create a duotone gradient! LOL!

This is all sounding so encouraging! Thank you all so much!!

I missed the workspace for about a week. Then I adjusted and when I open PSE to do tutorials - it drives me nuts to have the workspace! I never would have guessed that could be possible!
I love the sound of that!!!

I've tried to like Bridge. I just can't do it!
I'm using Acdsee which works similar, but has a few quirks that make it work better for me. I wish it was free like Bridge though!
