Help! I've got it now I don't know what to do with it!

I always just do file >place embedded which opens up my files and I grab paper and elements that way one at a time. No need to have a bunch of things open and cluttering workspace :)
I figured that out finally, Christa. It's just having no workspace + not being able to open multi files is totally befuddling me. I trust though - if you say I won't need it - I'll be patient.

I am one who likes to open virtually an entire kit in PSE and play around with different things. I struggle having a similar working process in PSCC.

I thought it was just me not being able to open multiple files because I didn't know how PSCC works. Uggh! I usually open everything I think I might need, then start playing.
That's something that I don't like AT ALL!!!

You can open multiple files in PSCC.

If you want them in separate tabs just select (highlight) them in your files, right click on one of them, then choose Open In Photoshop CC.

If you want them on the layout you're working on, just select them in your files, then drag them over to your layout and drop them. This is what I do every time I make a layout. I realize it might be harder to do it this way if you have a small screen, but maybe temporarily you can make the PS window smaller so you can see your file window.

Thanks so much, Michele! I've got SO much to learn!!

My suggestion is to stick with it for a month! You will get frustrated, but when you do take 5 minutes to write up the issue here, and then you will get answers. You need time to acclimate to the differences.

As for workspace... I use my desktop. I copy the products I want to possibly use on my layout to my desktop. Then I have all the little thumbnails on my desktop, which I then drag into PSCC. I didn't like how it was working any of the other ways - each opening to a tab, or all of them in my layout at once. So, I ended up doing this way. It's odd, but my workaround from a number of years using PSE. So, 3/4 of my screen is PSCC, and the other 1/4 is the thumbnails of all the products on my desktop.

Ooh! I love this idea Jenn! I use ACDSee so I'm used to dragging all my files from my image basket to my bin in PSE but I could just as easily drop them onto my desktop.

I have a Windows PC, and I also got an app (Quick Eye) that I can press the space bar and the thumbnail will enlarge so I can see it better. This way, I'm not dragging everything into my layout unless I want to use it. This was a carry over from my Mac days and pressing the space bar enlarged many things for a better view. There's always a work around, you just have to find it!

Great suggestions, Jenn! I think all of these would be good for me to try! I'm really bumming because I can't see my files. I was hoping it was just me doing something wrong, but it sounds like it's just the nature of PS. Thanks so much.

I love that suggestion! I have to try to figure that process out. I think it would be so helpful!

Jenn, thanks for the heads up on Quick Eye. I'm looking at that right now. I've never heard of that, but I'm going to get it.

I had to do a lightning conversion to PSCC last year when I attempted MOC because Microsoft did a massive "creative" upgrade to Windows 10 and Digital Image Pro suddenly no longer worked. I finally wound up dropping out of MOC because I just couldn't make the jump into light space! That said, I started doing the tutorials that are offered, free, when you open PSCC. They are short and sweet. I learned a great deal. There are a gazillion tutoriasl in Creative Cloud. Exploring the site is rewarding. Lots of things to use free, too - fonts, actions, etc, all in one place. I'm not an expert yet, but learning - at least as long as it doesn't crash every time I double click the gradient bar to create a duotone gradient! LOL!

you can open them all up and have a bunch of element windows open and then drag them onto your layout but there will be too many windows.. it is the same as in PSE but not in a panel at the bottom... it just is that you have to look for the element or paper that is open and drag it onto your working space.. that is why I do the File > Place so it doesn't get so busy with open files and it has you look at all your elements in a kit at one time as it goes directly to the file and lets you choose what you want. :) It is better and you will find it better too :) once you get used to it :)

The biggest problem I'm having is there's no "workspace" like on PSE. At least it there is, I haven't figured out where it is.
I am just curious what all of you do WITHOUT the workspace in PSCC. I feel so lost without it.

I missed the workspace for about a week. Then I adjusted and when I open PSE to do tutorials - it drives me nuts to have the workspace! I never would have guessed that could be possible!

ha ha.. me too Courtney re the tutorial part :) I still do my way and so I ignore that bottom thing. LOL I think what drives me crazy is having too many items to close when I want to shutdown... with all that stuff open it takes longer to shut down too! :giggle :)

So there is NO workspace!! WOW, I don't know how I'll ever get used to that! Can I not pull multiples files in with the "place embed" either?????
If you want them on the layout you're working on, just select them in your files, then drag them over to your layout and drop them.

I'm like Michele - I'm a drag and dropper. I have the file open on one screen, and hold ctrl (windows) to select multiple items. Then I drag them over to the workspace.
Drag Drop multipls.PNG

On the laptop, my screen looks like this: (On the desktop - supplies on one screen, Photoshop on the other. Netflix small behind the supplies :giggle)

Once I have everything I want on the workspace, I then minimize the supply window.

See for me, and I have windows, it doesn't allow me to drag ... If I open the folder i cannot drag on to my workspace ... I get a circle with a line when I try to drag over so that is why I do the place option. Also it will only allow me to choose one at a time even holding ctrl, so I am wondering if it is the way it is set up? Weird why I can't do that, but I was never able to. No biggie.. just going to continue on the way I do with File>Place Embedded grabbing elements, papers etc as I go :)

NOTED: I just figured out why it didn't work for me as I was doing File >Open which only allows one file at a time , instead of opening up the file outside of PS CC and then dragging in. I tried that and it allowed the drop drag method.

I am going to sitck with my File > Place Embedded as that works best for me, but at least I figured that out re drop/drag :)
