WE ARE IN AN EMERGENCY STATE RIGHT NOW..... WE CAN'T FIND BIANCA'S ELF, CHINEY! I know she is old and big for that, but she still believes in the darn magic of Christmas. He was supposed to come last night but we CAN'T FIND HIM! He is not in his usual hiding place, I can't seem to find him and I can't use today to find him because kids have a SNOW DAY! Please send me finding vibes!!!!!!!!! She is heart broken, cried this morning and she has been super down all day.

I just did, I hope St. Anthony hears us. I am in the brim of crying now too, because she is devastated!!!!! We don't do elf in the shelf. We started the elf before the elf in the shelf even was a thing. Our elf helps her during the season not to be sad. This season she gets very sad because she wants to be with her cousins and family and we are all by ourselves here in this BIG state. She misses everyone so dearly, so CHINEY is more a coping mechanism for her.

I'm sorry, Dalis! I know how tough it can be on kids to be away from extended family, and we as parents want to help them however we can. I'll think Positive Elf-finding thoughts!

oh Dalis my heart is breaking for B.. I will keep her and Chiney in my prayers that he isn't just visiting with someone else who needs him today.

By the way, if you have Netflix, you have got to see The Christmas Chronicles... it is with Kurt Russell.. it is so good.
 
Oh no! I put a call out to my friends on facebook for an elf. Last year, Brody hid a little stuffed elf all over for Jamie. So, this year I wanted the real one with the story. One of my friends had multiple because they kept losing them. Our very own Lena is sending me hers & my friend Sarah is giving me the book. I hope Chiney turns up soon. I know how special these elves are.
 
Oh no, that stinks. Poor Bianca. I hope Chiney turns up very soon. I know you want to hold on to the fact that she still believes in the magic of Christmas a little longer - they all grow up way to fast these days. Hopefully he reveals himself soon!

Oh Dalis I hope you find your elf. Last year I wouldn't hide the elves that our kids made when they were little with felt and stuffing and chenille stems for arms and legs, thinking the girls are far too old for that (14 and 16!) so every morning I was the one surprised to find them up to no good, like reading my book or in the fridge. I also refused to do the advent calendar (the same reason) but got a present of a new origami every day from my youngest dd. I have prepared for the advent calendar this year, that will be a surprise in its own right. I guess you don't have an age limit on a desire to be surprised. I know it's no help to you, but I am thinking of you and Bianca and hope you will find the elf soon and an explanation as to why he/she was missing. Better bring a present. :)
 
Can you plop the kids in front of the TV/movie with snacks and tell them to stay there until it's done? That'll keep them out of the way for you to look. Or you could say you're missing something ... make it up. Like a sweater or earring, maybe? I hope you find your elf soon!
 
Oh no! After a few years of scrambling- we decided to put our elf (blue eyes) in with the fall decor box so that in the fall we 'find' him & can set him aside! In past years- I have found him in- my underwear drawer, on top of my desk (hidden behind a picture frame) and inside the box he came in (ha! Figures I'd forget that I actually put him away where he belonged!!!) I'll cross my fingers & toes for you to find your elf!!!

Chiney used to be there until last year B found him stealing a pair of undies from my daughter to wear because she had no clean underwear!!!!!!! That was a big mess!
 
He is nowhere to be found!!!!!! I am going crazy!!!!!!!!! He has a place where he should have been but he is not there.
 
Could you get someone in your family to write an email about how chiney was visiting them? Maybe that would cheer her up a little, and buy you finding time? And it might make him feel more special this year if he comes bearing hugs from relative?
