So far, so good.
Our weather went from 75 f to 17 overnight this week.

My boys immediately began the sniffles.
I got a bag of Mandarin oranges (we call them cuties here). They are like candy to the boys. One in morning, one in afternoon
and
then fruit smoothie in the evening.

I'm a freak with hand sanitize and bleach in my cleaning! lol

What do you do to keep the sickies away?

I swear by running a humidifier. It's a pain to remember to fill, clean, etc., but I've noticed a big difference in our health - and skin! We're less itchy, among other things.

The other thing I do is hydrate hydrate hydrate. Herbal teas and water. My doctor told me to cut a 1/2" slice of fresh ginger and keep it in a mug all day long, refilling the hot water when needed. I'm going to try that this year.

My kids go to public school, which means there is no way to stop them from getting sick. So I try to teach my kids good hygiene. That's all I can do. And we always try to eat healthy and stay hydrated.

Thanks for the reminder about the cuties. I started eating those like crazy last year and it made a huge difference.

We just try to wash hands more, run humidifiers, get flu shots. We have 5 kids so I just prepare myself ahead of time with knowing that someone is probably going to bring something home at some point. I did start homeschooling my younger kids last year and it’s amazing how much that cut down on sickness.

Take your vitamins, wash your hands, and ... you know what to do.

I am debating on the flu shot. Everybody but me got the shot. I usually escape the flu even if family members get it. So that makes me hesitant to get it. But if I don't get the shot and I get the flu, then hubby can say, "I told you so". Hmmmm

School is like a big petri dish of germs! We make Asher wash his hands - fronts and backs, with soap, the second he walks in the door. We also keep hand sanatizer in the car, but nothing beats soap and water, in my opinion.

I just got the flu shot this morning. I debated back and forth since I'm not sold on their efficacy or the rationale behind them. I haven't had one in 4 years, so I thought I'd get it this year. I'm supposed to get them every year due to my asthma, but haven't. I only got it now because I've started to experience some respiratory stuff this fall, which I usually don't. Oh well. The deed is done!

I get a flu shot every year but the biggest thing that seemed to cause us not to get sick to much was remove the carpet from our house. We removed carpet out of every room and that first winter I had no cold/bronchitis. I usually got bronchitis every year but have not had it since we removed the carpet.

As soon as I start sniffling I take them.. also take them before getting on a plane and use the sanitizer wipes on everything

I guess we are on point then ... because I started buying the cuties last week. And we are all making smoothies all the time. I have that Ninja blender and it has the little individual cups too. So everyone can make them to their taste/liking whenever they have the urge. I was never a big flu shot person but I've started to get them lately. Deft'ly sniffles season! Yuck!

Watching this thread b/cos oh the school germs! Both kids have been snotty sick & home over the last wk & a half & are now in the aftermath cough stage - I can't imagine adding humidity to the air though, mum gave us a dehumidifier for summer & it's getting about time to use it

After 30 years teaching in public school, I have an iron clad immune system lol. I say that and now I'll probably get sick. I did get the flu shot, but haven't taken the 13 year old for it. We love cuties, too and eat them all the time. We also take vitamins and wash hands lots.

I always say, wash, wash, wash away all those germs! But what am I talking about, I was so sick last winter.... twice... so this was the first year I did get a flu shot. Hopefully it works!

Around here Hand and Foot Disease is making the rounds! Say What!? Glad I don't have little ones at home anymore.

I also get the tea pot going and brew up green tea, drink a lot of that.

A gal at my work just brought in her "cold killer" tea- It's muddled oranges, lemon & ginger with some sort of tea- I can't remember but I"ll get her recipe for you! It smelled super yummy this morning when she brought it in!
