Trick or Treat smell my feet, gimme somethin' good to eat!

I'm not sure why we say smell my feet, because I sure don't want to smell anyone's feet... I just want ALL THE CANDY... hehe!

Tomorrow is Halloween and we're prepping for the trick or treaters. We used to get tons of kids, but the last couple of years we have only gotten about 30 come by for trick or treating. I don't know if it's because of all the trunk or treats or just that the kids in the neighborhood are growing up. My youngest is 12 and she and her friends aren't sure if they will go trick or treating. I think they should go and have fun. As long as they aren't causing trouble in the neighborhood, I think it's perfectly fine for them to go gather up some free candy.

How about you... do you get lots of trick or treaters? Do you give treats or play tricks like Donald Duck does in this video?

Our tot'ers seem to be dwindling as well. I always buy too much candy and we usually are out tot'ing ourselves so we aren't home to really hand it out. I don't like to leave the bowl out because not all kids follow the "take one candy" rule.

When we first moved into our home my husband really went all out. We had only been in our house a few months and he was super excited to decorate. Halloween is his birthday, too, so it's kind of his favorite. He had hay bales lining our walkway with different decor set up. At the end of the walkway he set up this spooky scarecrow looking guy. Well, on Halloween he had a bunch of friends hiding all the way up our walkway and he dressed in the clothes that were on the dummy and sat there where the dummy was. He would randomly scare kids as they were walking up. I don't think the neighbors liked us very much that night. LOL! He didn't scare the little, little ones but ones he thought were old enough to appreciate the scare. I for sure thought we would get some complaints later on. It was all in good fun. :shrug

Trick or treat in my town is always the last Thursday of the month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. I haven't done it for over 20 years. Heck, might have even been longer than that because we used to turn all the lights off in the house even when Mom was alive (she's been gone almost 22 years). Especially the last few years when she was sick.

I am also in a neighborhood that does not have sidewalks or street lights by the roads so it is quite dark. Honestly, I'm not sure that many of my immediate neighbors do it either. I didn't look this year since I've been recovering from surgery but in past years they have not had their porch lights on.

Really an unknown since it is a Weds -- but as DD said - no T-or-T means more candy for us!!!

p.s. the bag o'candy is already about 1/3 gone - don't tell anyone...

We typically average between 150-200 kids. Some years we had so many that we had to make a second run to the store for candy. We're not sure about this year because we don't have any working streetlights in the neighborhood. The power company has been "working" on them for two years... and they promised they'd be done by Halloween. Not yet.

And I just realized I don't have any candy yet. Yikes!

We don't get any at all. We live in a gated community. Plus, there really aren't in kids in our neighborhood, so Asher can't even go trick-or-treating here. We always take to somebody's house though, he's going to his aunt's tomorrow night. They live in a neighborhood where there are lots of kids. We took him to an outdoor mall this past Saturday evening and the kids all walked around and the merchants gave out candy. He had a great time.

I think your hubby's got the right idea... make the most of it and have some fun. I used to go all out with Halloween decorations too, but this year we are getting a new roof put on because of a hail storm so I can't decorate. The guys are working on it right now and there's tarps and shingles and debris everywhere. It kinda looks like a haunted house right now.... bwahahaha! I'm not sure if they'll be finished for Halloween tomorrow, but I'll make sure they clear the walks so any T O T ers can get up to the door.

More candy for us is right! Shhh.... don't tell my family, but I bought an extra bag of my favorites, just for me... hehe!

We used to get about 200 kids, but I think last year we got 30-40. I used to buy 2 of the 250 count bags of the fun-size candy bars. One for the trunk or treat and one for the trick or treaters at the house. This year, I almost forgot to buy candy.... ooops! Thankfully, the local grocery store was having a deal on the mars fun size bags last week, so I got 6 of the 20 count bags and hide some of my favs so I would have something for when the cravings hit.

We used to go to grandma's neighborhood when our kids were little. She always had a halloween party and then the kids would go trick or treating in her neighborhood. Sure do miss her, especially around the holidays.

At our first home, we'd get barraged with kids. We'd buy bags & bags of candy. One year was particularly insane, I am guessing kids got bussed in. DH had to run out to buy more candy, and in the interim, I was handing out dimes (it was a LONG time ago). We moved in 1993 to the home we are living in now. We live out in the middle of nowhere, our nearest neighbor is at least 500 feet away. No streetlights and a long driveway = no trick or treaters ever. We turn on our lights, open the doors, usually have at least one bag of candy just in case, but we always end up eating the candy ourselves.

My 16, almost 17yr old DD claims there are no Almond Joy bars in the mixed chocolate bag we got for TOTers - even though they are pictured on the bag. Hmmm - I am wondering how she knows that...

Our house is decorated (and pretty much the only one decorated on my street). I'm not expecting trick or treaters as my neighbor said they hardly get any. Most everyone goes to 3 specific areas for trick or treating, some of the subdivisions and the trunk or treat events. We will likely hit a couple of the specific areas and maybe a trunk or treat. Both my kids are TOT, even the teen :)

Our subdivision get hundreds of trick or treaters because it is private and there's no traffic and such, but here at our house we might get 5 max lol. We live on the back side of the subdivision at the bottom of a pretty steep hill, and I assume that most just don't want to walk back up it when they leave :giggle. My sister, who lives on the other side, gets 200+ some years. I always buy candy, but I make sure it's stuff we like!

Not a big thing here but even then we don’t get anyone cause I live down a long driveway off a busy road.

We get a decent number of trick or treaters and our bowl of candy is always empty at the end but I don't know how many because I'm the one who walks with the kids and my husband is the one who stays home and gives out our candy. We live in a non-gated subdivision of more than 200 houses, and share a road with another subdivision so I bet some especially energetic kids sometimes do both neighborhoods. I haven't noticed a change over the years. I'm always surprised to see so many kids at halloween though because the kids don't play outside much so I don't see them most of the year!

chuckles... I've been guilty of taking all the good candy bars outta the bowl I have for the t-or-ters.
