I did look at the storyteller washi but didnt feel it worked with the kit that great - I'll have a dig through my washi tape folder and I might find a plain washi that will work with the kit or I may replace washi with stitching

How about grabbing a template (I know Scrapping Liz has tons) with a washi and just clipping a paper to it?
 
@littlekiwi Jennifer, I like to just make my own washi with paper from the kit I'm using. You could use one of the sets Dalis and Anne-Marie showed or find a piece in your existing collection like you mentioned. Anyway, clipping a paper from the kit means it'll for sure match your page and you an play around with opacity if you like. (I usually do, lol.) Jan had a Why It Works post in August about washi tape with a video by Cheryl; maybe that'll help you, too.

YAY, thanks! I know, I "borrow" tapes from templates or other kits all the time and then clip a paper to make my own. LOL!!!

And you posted about templates right before I posted my reply; I didn't even realize you'd posted until after I hit "post reply" lol! ;) I love your template idea. It inspired me to check my template stash for shapes/tape/etc!

I've found at least 4 kits that I forgot I owned that I am excited to scrap with. Thanks.
