Decluttering and Downsizing

I need to start downsizing and decluttering. I'm really seriously hopefully moving to Florida early next year and can only take so much stuff with me. I really need to pare down on the "stuff" that has no sentimental value to me. I also know I need to get rid of some movies... I have hundreds and I never actually watch any of them. Oops.

Movies are so easy to collect! I saw one storage system that allowed you to get rid of the cases, thereby saving tons of room. But the system was so expensive that it wasn't cost effective. Good luck with downsizing, too! Florida sounds like fun!

I use CD sleeves, but I just don't need them, you know?

I just purged 6 66qt tubs for donation to my parents church yard sale. If it was worth less than $10 in my eyes, it's going to them. Felt pretty good getting rid of so much.

@krscraps Yay for you!!! I'm sure it felt marvelous to donate all of that! Woot!!! :banana:dancebun:circles:clappy

Just think of how much the new recipients will love the stuff.

------

I went into my son's closet yesterday and pulled out a couple old Halloween costumes, along with a few old sets of toddler clothing(!) to bring to the consignment store. It's a small pile, but it's something. I tried going through the two small boxes of baby clothes, knowing that neither kid wants them, but I just couldn't do it. I can bring 12 items twice a week to consign, but if I make it at least once a week I'm on goal.

Just hopping through...

I use DVD sleeves. It took a few hours, but now our movie collection is beautifully pared down. You can kinda see it here:
I never thought about using those, and talk about a space-saver! We use a CD binder for our DVDs. I put my CDs into a big binder and figured Why not do this with our DVDs too? Series are still in their cases, as are kids movies. My kids like to look at the stacks to find what they want to watch; plus, I figure in a few more years I'll end up donating a lot of them anyway, so might as well keep the cases. With the series, I have an empty binder I could move them into but just haven't done it yet. We watch so few of them that I keep thinking we should donate all but our faves (or ones we can't find via streaming).

something like this I was doing until last week.... my hoarder soul makes it SO difficult!!!
