Technique Chat | Sept 18 @ 9:30pm EDT/6:30pm PDT

Oh wow... my login finally worked, but it was definitely not The LilyPad.

Here is one using papers from Forever Joy - Orange You Glad

Thank you to everyone who joined (or tried to join)! Here is a recap of tonight's technique!

As much as I like clean white space, it can sometimes feel a little plain. My go-to technique—texturizer! It’s so simple, really!

For this page, I wanted waves. I had recently used a wave patterned paper by Bella Gypsy, so I pulled that up. Once you open the paper, you’ll immediately Save As a Photoshop (PSD, PDD) file.

Go ahead & close that out. Go back to your original page. With the white space layer highlighted, go to Filter>Texture>Texturizer

The texture usually defaults to sandstone or burlap. You’ll click the dropdown next to it & click “Load Texture”. This is where you’ll pull up the file you just saved.

Adjust the scaling (size) and relief (depth) to your liking.

You can even go back & do the technique again to double emboss.

Post a paper you made by 730p PDT on 09/19/2018 & I'll send you a gift!

I could not get into the chat, but I am glad you posted this technique. I really love it...and I need to remember to use this.
Here is the page I made!

So I guess everyone so far who has done this has been using PSE?
I used PSCC and there was no Texture item in my Filter menu. :(
But I googled and this article https://www.gavtrain.com/?p=3176 says they took some of the filters away and you have to turn on a check box in Preferences. Whew!
Now Texture is showing up.

I wonder why they'd take it away. Weird.

thank you for giving us time to join in outside the chat timezone. This is done differently in my software, but I'll have a play later.

I used this paper from heART by Pink Reptile Designs for my texture. Cool easy technique. Thanks!

so you found it Michele? If not it is in Filter Gallery > Texture then Texturizer

I've used 2 papers from Kristin Aagard's Animals Kit. In my software the technique uses the pattern emboss effect.
