Grilling Season | pad patter 7.2.18

I wish we could BBQ for the 4th, but it's just too hot to babysit the grill :( some burnt ends sound really good right now LOL

Well...my husband will grill all year long so it's a good thing we live in California. Even when it isn't nice out he will grill. He's been known to take the Weber into the garage and grill. Also, he will not grill on anything but a charcoal grill. My mom even purchased a Weber for her house so when we grill there he doesn't have to use her gas grill. He says that's cheating. Haha!

The charcoal does give a great flavor. My BFF and her husband won't use a gas grill either, but we're too lazy at our house and have a natural gas line that goes to our grill. I love that we don't ever have to go swap propane bottles.

We bought a grill in 2002 for my daughter's first birthday party. In the following decade + a few years we used it maybe 5 more times. I finally sold it a few years ago. We don't miss it. :shrug

No need to keep it around if you don't use it! I can grill hotdogs, but I haven't tried cooking anything else. I don't want to try or it'll become my job and having hubby grill is one of the things I love about grilling season. :giggle

I've never heard of boiling the brats ahead of time, but I'll tell hubby so he can try it!

We had a bunch of people over for Memorial Day and I did this to save time. Otherwise, it takes my grill about 30 minutes or more to grill one batch of raw ones. With the boiling, you just have char the outside, so more like 10 minutes.

We grill a lot! My kids favorite is to make pizzas and cook them on the grill. I hate using the oven in the summer because it heats the house up too much, so just about everything gets done on the grill! We probably won't be grilling for the 4th because we are going to the big celebration in town that lasts from 1 in the afternoon to 11 or so. We won't be there the whole time, but I'm probably not doing any cooking lol.

my neighbor does that grill in the garage trick!

I wish we used our grill more often, but we sadly don't. I treat the grilling like my hubby's domain, but he really isn't interested in cooking usually, so I just cook most stuff inside.

I leave it to my husband, too. Getting the charcoals right is like a fine art. I'm not that artistic. Haha!

I hear you! Fortunately, my husband enjoys cooking in the kitchen, and my oldest daughter even more, so I get breaks from making meals. :)
