You guys!!! I'm ridiculously excited about my hubby's new car! He put his order in (before the car was even revealed!) March 31st 2016 (YES! 2 years ago!) which I made a layout for moc at the time- Fast forward to April 15th of this year- he got the email to order/customize his car. We ordered it on April 16th. We received our VIN number on May 7th & originally scheduled delivery for May 24th. We live just under 300 miles away from the nearest service center, so home delivery was an option (they put it on a covered truck & deliver to our house!) We were planning on going with that option, but then we found out that the sales tax exemption for electric vehicles here in WA state expires on June 1st. We weren't sure if the car would make it in time- so it was worth the money to fly to Seattle & then drive home to save $3,400 in taxes! After getting multiple assurances our car would be available on the 24th, I booked our flights & marked the calendar! 2 more weeks of waiting after the 2 years was brutal! BUT THEN- the delivery specialist called & said the car was in early & we could come get it. Crap! Of course our flights were non-refundable, and the change fees were stupid. So we just ate the $180 for those tickets & purchased new ones. Monday (the 14th) we got the kids on the bus to school, then the hubby & I had a friend drop us off at the airport. We had an easy, quick flight to Seattle. My mom & stepdad picked us up- drove us to Bellevue & where we had lunch & a couple hours to kill. We then went to our delivery appointment at 2pm! Our car was ready & waiting with an almost full charged battery!!! EEK! After a little intro & figuring everything out- we were on the road by 2:30 home! We stopped once to charge (20 mins to go from 50% -> 85% battery & only cost $6!) We got home at 7:30 just in time to catch dinner with the kids & inlaws. This car is amazing & we are SO beyond happy with it- no more gas, oil changes, etc!
This is so cool! I love love the layout too. Do you have free recharge stations where you live? I've seen a few free ones here in San Antonio.
OH WOW!!! A Tesla!!! At one of the outdoor malls near our house, they just put in Tesla charging stations. How exciting!!! I love your pictures.
We have quite a few generic charging stations (and the car comes with a couple different common adapters) but we had a 240v outlet (similar to a dryer outlet) installed in our garage. He parks it & plugs it in. We set the limit so after the battery is at 80% (they don't recommend charging to 100% unless you are going on a trip) it will stop charging. I'm interested to see how our power bill will be affected! Thanks! It's crazy how many charging stations are around that I never noticed before! Thankfully the trip we take frequently to western WA to visit family has multiple locations with the superchargers (fast, but have to pay- but still less than a tank of gas in my SUV!)
Very cool! We have some charging stations in our town that have been there for many years and i just think it's so cool to have a full electric car!
that's so cool and exciting! love the look of it. keep us updated as michele said on how you like it!
Very cool! Love your layout too, Amie! So exciting when we get new cars! We have a bunch of charging stations around. I see them all over, even Ikea and some of the Wawa's around here!
How exciting! you both look so happy - but of course! That's great to have your own charging station. Smart move!
Very cool! Have fun! My friend's husband has an older one and loves it. The company is great at service too, like when his battery died and refused to charge in the middle of a trip. They gave him a loaner and a new battery for free.
I feel like Fredericksburg, Virginia is lagging behind. I don't know of any charging stations around here. (I realize they could exist, I just wasn't aware.) I know my county (Spotsylvania) lags behind with digital things. It's only in the last two years I was able to start getting water bills digitally, and we still have to get our property tax bills on paper, just to name a couple examples.
That is one thing about the company- their customer service is awesome! My hubby's aunt has a model S (the expensive one!) and she has NOTHING but great things to say about them! Actually you do have a charging station! The great thing is they are adding more every month so pretty soon you can go ANYWHERE!
Here is the current map of North American charging stations- the Red is the current Super chargers (fast charging for travelling) and the gray markers are future super charging stations. Our battery can go 310 miles, so we can basically drive anywhere we want!
One of these is on our One Day wishlist. One of our friends is the President of the Tesla Owners of Australia so we get updates constantly. Charging stations are pretty rare here though...
